(SR5) Multiple Sony announcements (August 19, Sept 3 and more).

There will be definitely multiple Sony announcements the coming weeks:

– On August 19 will announce the new A5100 E-mount camera
– On September 3 Sony will announce the new QX30 (30x zoom lenscamera)
– The “heavy stuff” will be announced right before Photokina. This will likely include the new RX and A-mount cameras and the many(!) new E and A-mount lenses.

  1. OK, I remember when A99 was about to be introduced. We’ve almost heard every specification about a month ago but as of today, we’re not still able to tell if the new A-mount will be an A99 successor or an entry level full frame, if it will carry A77mkII AF system or if it will have 36mpix A7R sensor. This is strange

    1. It seems likely that the a99 will continue to be sold alongside it. The price will probably continue to decline to a more budget-friendly price point for a full frame camera.

      1. Yeah I think they will continue selling A99. It is still a good camera. The most strategic move can be decreasing A99 price to $1.590 and introduce A99mkII with $2.490. However I’m not sure if they can put the technology which would justify the price difference b/n these two models. Anyways, the prices for Sony Turkey would be double of those I mentioned above 🙂

        1. Yep, I thought the same thing. Sony just can’t seem to bring the cost of the a99 down enough to pull off the 2 body strategy. Witness their crummy refurbished ~$1,700 deal which absolutely an egg on U.S. eBay. That’s one reason I expect the a99II to come in higher than anyone expects. Then they’d discount the a99 just a few hundred dollars around $1,899-1,999 range like the Nikon D610.

Unfortunate for Sony, without a refresh of the a99 as entry-level body I don’t see that strategy as a winner. Even then, they need more price separation because I don’t think they can go head-to-head with Canikon as a value proposition given their mediocre lens and flash selection.

          1. Sony will not produce the A99 & A99II concurrently, only sell off the A99 inventory until supplies are exhausted.

        2. It can be $3000 and they can justify it with: full frame AF coverage, faster/more accurate AF, a large buffer, faster processing, 14-bit continuous raw, better high ISO performance, xavc 10 bit 4:2:2 video codec w/ picture profiles & s-log (conspicuously absent from a77-2), better firmware / logical menu options and wifi.

If it gets all of the above my preorder is in. If they recycle the a77-2 AF module and simply update it with an a7r sensor and wifi then I’ll probably get an a7s instead

Internal 4k and 36mp sensor would be icing. I would rather Sony increase the price rather than cheap out on common sense expectations as they did with the current a99 (buffer, processor & AF coverage).

    2. While I expect an a99II to be announced, if you follow Admin’s dribble of rumors closely it’s not even certain an a-mount body or lens will be announced at Photokina. Today it looks highly likely. A while back it was 50-50 or so. Forget specs.

I get plugging leaks to maintain trade secrets. However, this close to Photokina it’s not like Canikon can quickly respond by pulling a new body out of their a$$. Everyone’s got a hand of cards and there’s no reason to hold them to the bitter end because all bets are long since on the table.

You’d think they’d be leaking like mad to build excitement and interest in Photokina. As it is, I’m just pi$$ed off and discouraged. About 2 weeks ago in the midst of riding the SAR b.s. rumor rollercoaster I got such a strong impression Sony was going to pull another fast one and stiff-arm a-mounts, I bid at eBay on several a99IIs. I got within $20 of sniping one. Not exactly the reaction the marketing geniuses at Sony are looking for since they only profit on new body sales. I also strongly contemplated jumping on a Nikon Rumors post of a fire sale of D800s for $1,999. The only thing that prevented it wasn’t SAR rumors – again, I suspected the worst at the time – but my love of my collection of cheap Minolta glass I’m not ready to quit playing with.

        1. Other than OVF what is the A99 lacking compared to the A900? If it is an OVF then you should have swapped to CaNikon years ago.

        2. No it wasn’t just a replacement, but a new design concept that advanced the technology by leaps and bounds. Don’t expect an A900 like design from Sony, it’s not going to happen.

      1. There are 3 possibilities,
Admin dribbles (with serving few real content/rumors and a lot of filling material) so he has as much as possible clicks on his site.
(Likely for the $ake of his pocket$)

Admin dribbles because there are really few rumors around, caused by Sony closing and shut down their open windows. (Less leaks around in general)

        Or both of it.
That would explain the fall of SAR in terms of serving real rumors (always around dinner time CET)

        Just my opinion

        1. Yeah, I don’t want to criticize Admin because I’m a guest at his house and I realize it takes a lot of work to keep this site running and interesting.

However, it’s quite clear he’s pushing clicks and emphasizing monetizing links which I’m okay with within reason because he should get paid for all this work (though I wish he’d quit emphasizing the questionable grey market ‘deals’). Yet, it’s also curious he’ll talk about sitting on leaks because they aren’t confirmed yet the last spew seems to include the shadiest of the shady unconfirmed single anonymous sources.

What’s unclear to me is if Sony, in the past, deliberately fed SAR more leaks or they just got serious in plugging unofficial ones. Currently, SAR is just a good consolidator of breaking Sony related links. About 2 weeks prior to official events/announcements I get the impression Sony deliberately feeds him some details to lead us all obediently by the nose.

Canikon isn’t much better following their rumor sites. The only reason I think they’re making bigger leaks leading to Photokina is they have less to announce at the show than Sony does.

    3. Their was a patent for mirror Lock up .
      Infomation about A6000 OSPD & A77II STL 79 PD Combined .
Infomation about it having the A7r 36MP with extra sensitive corners to aid light loss .
It will have WIFI / NFC .2 card slots . It will likely have the same Body with the same actuating screen with new white magic LCD .

Only thing we dont know can it do all this fast so it can be used for sport .Id say no .Unless thy introduce a new Bionz prosessor 36mp files are tooooo big at 12fps

      1. 12fps is very unlikely. At the time of A99 launch a SONY rep said it was difficult to design FF SLT mirror which did not vibrate. That is why A99 has got 6fps only.

        1. The rep was giving you a line of BS, that’s the most ridicules excuse ever concocted. The limiting factor is data rate throughput, write speed and processing power.

        2. The A77II Is stl and handles 12 FPS .But ye Id say the prossesors have not hit the speeds needed to prosess 36mp pics that fast ….

      2. I have hopes up for hyper a99ii frame rate, too. Will any manufacturer finally deliver a light weight full frame alternative to 1d/d4? Also Intrigued by the recent nikon rumor of high speed full frame as well.

    1. Many do want Sony to launch alot of high aperture lenses (and long telelenses) for E-mount. I am sorry to say that this is not the a very good operation segment for E-mount. The smaller diameter E-mount wasn’t designed for this. If you want it – you’ll better use A-mount.

Of course it is possible to design high aperture lenses for E-mount, despite its smaller mount diameter (as you know, such lenses are available from third party manufacturers), but they would be either big and heavy or not so good IQ.
      .

    1. And then the internet would be awash with complaints that the framerate dropped… What effects are you seeing from the minimal amount of compression? I can’t see ANYTHING at all….

        1. Learn to use this thing the kids are using called a search engine and look up my stance on the significance of the effect.

Unlike you, I have done my own numerical analysis on the raw data too. You’ve only just read about it LOL

  2. I really hope that they will introduce a top FF wide angel zoom lens. Somewhere between 12-28 mm f.2,8. And a one that has contrast as a high advantage

  3. The A99-II (NOT with A77-II’s AF), 24-105 f/4 and ZA135 SSM are the bare minimum they need to announce to make users believe they are serious about the A-Mount, not just NEX.
Photokina is not so far away now…

      1. No, it isn’t. A-mount isn’t dead at all.

I have heard rumours, guessings and speculations about it only, NOTHING ELSE. Have you?

And a message for all you doomsday prophets – I don’t think it is very likely that e.g. an A99 II will show up already at Photokina. I’ll expect Sony want to collect more experience of the A77 II before it will launch their next FF A-mount camera.
        .

        1. The comment was meant to be facetious, there was a lot of ‘chicken little the sky is falling’ hysteria on the blog prior to the A77II being announced.

  4. Admin, have you got any info on the E mount lenses?

I’ve noticed the 55-210’s price dropping here in the UK. Perhaps a revised long zoom is coming? If it is I hope it is a bit smaller. That 55-210 looks silly on a 3n lol.
A 60mm or 90mm macro lens with IS would be nice too.

      1. No, some of us aren’t midgets and prefer ergonomics/handling to gear head miniaturization. It will never “pocketable” with a lens that size, so there’s no benefit in making it smaller and more fiddly.

How ridiculous looking and would a RX2 with the same size or bigger lens (if faster) on a Panasonic GM1 or Pentax Q body? That’s pretty much what you’re asking for. Then there’s the potential IQ loss you get from bodies that are too small and light.

      1. You really are foolish if you think you’ll be able to reliably hand hold 36 MP in a body that small and light. Many D800/810 and A7R users had a rude awakening.

  5. “… and the many(!) new E and A-mount lenses”
*keeps fingers crossed for some new APS-C E-mount lenses (tele primes and faster versions of current lenses).

    1. “and the many(!) new E and A-mount lenses.”

I’m still laughing at that now. “Many” will mean one FF A-mount and a few FF E-mount. “New” will be a refresh of the existing A-mount lens with a higher price tag…. 😀

      1. So what, A mount now need one FF and that is A99II, few mount later A88 would be fine. Some lenses need refresh ( 35f1.4, 70-210f4, 135f2.8 etc……). In my opinion, Amount missing 85f1.8 (somethin betwen 85f1.4 and cheap 85f2.8), solid flash sistem, better service suport.

      2. I am not trusting the indication “many”, too.

But honestly, what lenses else than refreshes of existing ones are you waiting for?
I interprete your nick that you are an advanced APS-C a-mount’er.
There is the Kit lens 1650/2.8 SSM, there is the 70300G, The SAL 35/1.8 (besides it plastic-fantastic-design a fairly good lens), SAL 50/1.4 and the SAL 85/2.8.
If too low end, you need to upgrade to the ZA’s.
Or going to 3rd parties, which have some really good lenses in their assortments.

        1. There is a whole bunch of missing f4 zooms and primes.

On APS-C, not having a DT 24mm f1.8 to match the DT 35mm and DT 50mm remains bizarre too for example.

Frankly, there are too many gaps to list here if you prefer Sony stamped on your lens and not Sigma, which might or might not work on future A-mount cameras!

          1. Agree to the brand own ones.

But that will become difficult. I think, Sony is not going to refresh the amount low-end. So the APS-C amrket is left to the A77/A77II users who have the headaches of either go for existing budget lenses or HQ which are the ZA/G’s.
They have a whole bunch of DT lenses. Except for the 35 and 50 primes there is no big-enough-market existing to validate the design of new lenses between the existing budget DT’s and the HQ’s.

          2. The market doesn’t exist because they don’t have the lenses. Make the lenses and people will come, just like Canon and Nikon.

        2. Well, but a refresh is just what some of those lenses need, because many are horribly outdated (20mm 2.8, 28mm 2.8, 50mm 1.4 (non za)), or overpriced (70300g vs tamron 70300, all rebadged minoltas)

  6. Sony has been definately more tight lipped than in the past. Specs are definately more hard to come by than in the past. I remember selling my 850 months before the announcement of the 99. But this time around the info is not forthcoming to act .

    1. With the slow down is camera sales the stakes are higher than ever, Sony is wise to keep things ‘close to the vest’.

    1. LOL you’re right sir, that’s probably what’s gonna happen.
They will rumor 3 cameras, bring out only one, with amazing features such as

  7. Guys, I can definitely say that several sources I personally know have confirmed that one of the new lenses will be a new FE 35mm f/1.8 OSS Sony branded (not Zeiss). Price is said to be much more affordable than Zeiss. Sony is now trying to get more casual users into the FE emount system and not targeting just solely enthusiasts.

        1. Sony is not going to waste resources developing mediocre lenses for full frame cameras, third party companies will fill that void. APS-C E-Mount is a totally different beast, cheap cameras & cheap lenses for casual users.

          1. Wow, you really have fallen for the Sony marketing haven’t you. So you think lenses for FF have to be perfect and super expensive otherwise they aren’t pro enough for you? Keep on buying into that Sony FF system idea with your overpriced slow f/4 Zeiss zooms made out of plastic! Good goyim!!!

          2. What alternate universe do you live in, excellent quality lenses are not cheap. Be it Sony or any other manufacturer. If cheap crappy lenses are good enough for you then stick with your flawed strategy. Most advanced users and pros don’t want to buy the same lens twice, lessons learned. Perhaps someday you will learn this lesson, but only if you pull your head out of your as*.

          3. If Nikon and Canon can make excellent FF primes (Some of which are top 10 on DXO) for $300-500 I’m sure Sony can too.

          4. Alternate universe? Sony 85/2.8 amount is incredibly sharp, pro grade quality and very cheap. The sigma 30/2.8 emount lens is as sharp as the 4x Zeiss version but just doesn’t cover enough of FF. And lets not get started on all the other cheap FF glass from other manufacturers. Sony can very well make some cheap FF glass, but they don’t want to because they are too busy milking idiots like you who think FF is strictly for pros (yet ironically you only take pictures of brick walls and resolution charts). Ugh.

          5. Really, seems the FE kit zoom and the Zeiss FF zoom quality is not really top class quality judging from various reviews.

          6. Thing is Sony are capable of making good quality cheap lenses. Their 35mm and 50mm SAM APS-C lenses are optically fantastic even if they are made of plastic and are cheap. If they could do something similar with an FE lens that was be great for people who may have splashed out on an A7 but still can’t afford Zeiss glass.

    1. would be lovely, but not likely, especially since they are about to release RX2. 35mm f/1.8 oss on FE would seriously cut sales of that one.

  8. Is there an a6100 coming?! I want an APSC camera with XAVC and full-sensor readout! The chance of that showing up at Photokina is the only thing stopping me from buying now.

    1. You can’t get full sensor readout at 24mp. Not to mention the heat issues they will have with such a small body. That is the exact reason why the A7s is 12mp so that they cna do a full sensor read out. A6000 is way too new to be updated.

  9. At some point I would love to hear whether Sony is going to finally replace the highly defective F60 flash. I realize that a flash is not as glitzy as a new camera, or some new lenses (if sufficiently unique or useful), but for many photographers who do events or other extensive use of flash, we have been anxiously awaiting an answer to the problems Sony created when it released the F60 (and then failed to provide a fix to its defects).

    1. If the Sony flash doesn’t meet you needs sell it and buy a Metz flash, they now make models that match the latest hot shoe configuration. Problem solved, no more tears.

      1. Nope, Metz is not the answer for event photography, for me at least. Some don’t take battery packs, and the one that does requires a proprietary pack and the cost of the two isn’t worth it. Frankly, the new Phottix Mitros flash is a more interesting option and possibility. Assuming Sony does not do right by its flash users.

    1. Depending on where you are locate on the globe.

In the past two years they improved these times. Before that it sometimes took up to 6 month.

  10. A99II is just a defensive move to protect A mount customers from moving på Nikon/Canon while building up the Ax FE-line. Ax FE is Sonys strategy now and it is here all innovation will show up.
A mount will just be a brush up of bodies and lenses.
You want to be a part of the defense or score goals?

    1. You are claiming you know the strategy of Sony exactly.
But do you really have any idea at all?

If you know ANYTHING more than what you are thinking, guessing and speculating about, please give us PROOF of that.

      .

      1. He’s out of his mind. The DSLR and CSC are two different completely camera segments. One has nothing to do with the other.

Sony is designing, and launching professional 400mm lenses, and 36mp 12fps bodies for the A-Mount, while the e-mount is receiving basic f/4 zoom lenses that most A-Mount users would never buy for their systems. We prefer our Zeiss or G-Series f/2.8 zooms.

Sony’s new approach (the mark system) is a very mature approach, and allows for faster updates.

Plus Sony’s A-Mount system generates far more revenue for Sony than the e-mount.

        1. Well, this is not “just a rumour site”. Andrea works VERY hard to make this site to something previosly thought being impossible – a quality rumour site!
Shouldn’t we at least refrain from making public such thoughts that are based solely on what we believe, are imaging and are just plainly making up in the temper we just linger on?
Admin hardly ever publish anything he rates as SR1 or SR2. Writings that are fully made up and are not based on anything at all, not even the smallest rumour or something, would be assigned to SR0, a rating so low that it doesn’t even exists!
Why would all other readers here have to waste a lot of time wading through huge piles of SR0 crap all the time, in the hope of eventually find something of value?
It is very disrespectful to all other readers.
And it is very disrespectul to Andrea, and his quality ambitions.
If you don’t have any idea what you are talking about, DO NOT make somthing up to preach and proclaim!
          Instead, just ask.
          .

          1. Thanks for the diatribe…. Did it really take you 5 days to come up with that load on drivel…

    2. You’re no General Patton

That is the dumbest thing I’ve read all day. CSC camera systems have grown, world wide, but in Sony’s camera division the A-Mount is the real star, and it is growing, faster, and earning more that the E-Mount.

The A-Mount has an uncanny ability to generate revenue, and profit which is why Sony is designing $7000.00 lenses vs the $1000.00 lenses for the E-Mount.

If consider yourself an “Professional Alpha User” and you not using a Full Frame A-Mount, then you’re probably just another troll.

      1. Dude don’t assume what people are or aren’t just because they have an opinion that is different from yours. And yes Full time photographers/ Videographers are using FE mount….

  11. From Sony Digital Imaging Management Team:

“Dear customers, we are pleased to announce the return of Minolta iISO hot shoe. The Multi Interface Shoe has been a complete MIS, and will now be accommodated through a new side port, as it should have been all along. Not that it matters because MIS accessories don’t work/lock on all cameras anyway, and no one is really buying them”.

“Third party flash and slave manufacturers will be abundant as before when iISO was standard, and they might even make a flash that doesn’t overheat when looked at. Companies like Pixel King and Phottix will be secure in their R&D costs and confident to move forward keeping our system equal or better than the competition… since we at Sony obviously cannot”.

“A big thanks goes out to all our loyal customers for their participation in this NSA experiment mandated upon us by the NSA. The US Government contracted with us to determine just how much trouble and confusion we could foist upon our customers before they turn away and leave our brand for another that provides customer security for legacy investment”.

“Carry on. And don’t forget to Make.Believe like nothing ever happened”.

    Kazuo Hirai
    CEO and president

    Sony Corp.

      1. For what? Mounting your dumb slave? Real smart Christopher. Make dumb slave native, and require adapter for smart /flashslave? Real smart Christopher.

Let’s destroy all third party components as well, all for the sake of the most fragile hot shoe MIS in history. Doesn’t even have full sleds, but rather four plastic feet… while the competition is full metal sleds.

Ermmm… what exactly do you like about the MIS Christopher? Perhaps the need to keep track of two more caps in your life… one for the flash, and the other for the camera shoe? Real smart Christopher.

Really, I want to know… how does the MIS benefit the Sony tog? What accessories do you have for it that couldn’t get otherwise with a side port, without destroying loyal legacy investment?

        1. Well first off – I would never call myself (or ever use the abbreviation) a “tog.” Second, I can and have used standard pocket wizards on an a99 and a7r cameras ( no adapter) thanks to the standard shape of the MIS. I can and have used Canon flashes on an a99 and a7r/s ( no adapter and no overheating). Third, I like the universality / consolidation of the MIS across alpha (a&e), rx and video lines that the MIS has brought about – I have used my f20m flash on my a99 and rx100-2.

Finally, I own and use the Sony MIS XLR adapter, which is the best solution for using quality microphones on an SLR – with phantom power (no clunky 9volt batteries needed!), which is something no hot shoe is capable of on any other cameras around.

Thus for all of the above varied uses I very much like the MIS. Sony isn’t going backwards to iISO or OVF/flapping mirrors. If you don’t like it, Canon or Nikon will be happy to serve you.

          1. I am in complete agreement that Sony completely dropped the ball in making the MIS a seamless transition. Thanks to users who complained about the terrible adapter, I stopped myself from purchasing an f58 flash to replace the atrocious f60 flash.

The adapter should have been an easy accessory that just works and fits without ever falling off ( beyond serious abuse of course).

The f60 flash has been a study in frustration for me so I can certainly empathize with where you are coming from. It is absurd that Sony has not replaced both the adapter and the f 60 flash by now with accessories that actually function.

    1. I wonder if Sony will even wait post Photokina for any a-mount announcements and focus on the e-mount “heavy stuff.” Trying to read between the lines of the SAR rumor rollercoaster I get the sense the a-mount has shifted to the caboose and is about to be decoupled from the express heading to Photokina Station.

What seems a certainty is any a99II won’t be out quick enough to interest me as a pre-order. Which is both good and bad news for me.

      1. I cant log in so I have to post as guest for now.
Its a discrace how Sony has been treating A mount users.
Incedently…I cancelled my Tammy 150-600 preorder.

          1. Well, no camera manufacturer has come out with an aps-c sensor greater than 24mp or a full frame sensor greater than 36mp so it’s not as if Sony has left users behind while the competition has raced ahead in resolution.

          2. You’re making too much sense and not being dramatic enough.
That’s not what this board is for. Here’s what you should really be saying:
It’s likely that Canon and Nikon are going to release 1gp cameras at photokina, likely stacked 10 deep with colors human beings can’t even see and capable of shooting perfect images in absolute darkness so Sony’s forsaken all of it’s users. Additionally, Sony hasn’t released the exact version of an obscure lens that only I want, so it’s clear that they don’t want my business, otherwise they’d cater to me directly.
Additionally, there aren’t enough lenses for E mount, but I’ll get outraged when they release a new one, and the lenses for A mount aren’t good enough because they aren’t all brand new.

          1. Sigma is expected to anounce a new 300-600mm lens in Sept.
So far the specs are still a well kept secret but there is a very good possibility that this will exceed the quality of the Tamron.

        1. It’ll be interesting to see if Sigma does indeed come out with a 300-600mm lens and if they can get it out in a Sony mount faster than Tamron despite Tammy’s considerable head start. I suspect a Sigma announcement will put a fire under Tamron’s lazy butt.

      1. Since it’ll probably cost $7,500 can I politely ask Sony add the designer Zeiss blue label? Goes nice with white. (All in jest, of course)

      2. I’m looking forward to that lens. I hope the price isn’t shocking or I’ll just end up buying a Sigma 500mm F4. But, a 400mm F4 hits the sweet spot, much smaller and a perfect match with a 1.5 teleconverter without sacrificing IQ.

        1. I just don’t want to upgrade my Jobu Jr, and I’d really like to have the ability to use AF with 2x TC on it.

It’s hopefully going to be a sold for a reasonable price or I’m going to keep my 400mm Minolta.

    1. 12fps, faster AF, and its designed for those of us who already own professional quality 500mm f/8, 500mm f/4, 400mm f/4, 300mm f/2.8, 70-400mm, 70-300mm, and 70-200mm, 24-70mm f/2.8, 16-35mm f/2.8 Zooms, 135mm, 85mm 50mm 24mm Zeiss lenses, and Sony’s 16mm, 20mm, 24mm, 35mm, 50mm Prime lenses.

        1. Wait for it.

The new camera are likely SDXC UHS-2 ready (5x faster), so the data transfer bust speed is more than adequate, and only a new SLT has the AF speed to provide this level of performance. This is why Canon created the Pellix/SLT technology in 1968, and had 10fps film cameras for years.

We’ve already seen the A77/A77II demonstrate what SLT is truly capable of.

Plus this is where Sony is taking the A-Mount. Sony is not just looking to outperform Nikon or Canon’s mid range DSLR they’re going for their top of the line.

          The A99II is a 4DS/1DX killer.

          1. Its more than obvious why they’re so secretive. An A88, and A99II capable of 12fps is going to absolutely disrupt the market.

Nikon, and Canon’s only claim to fame are the performance levels the 4DS/1DX are capable. Sony’s probably intends on taking that away from them.

          2. If Nikon, and Canon loose the sales of their HALO cameras they’re going to be in serious trouble over night. A sub 2K camera (A88) able to outperform a 4DS is going to really hurt them.

          3. Its hammer time.

Canon, and Nikon are already in trouble on all fronts:

The A5000, is A6000 taking away low-end DSLR sales.

The A7 Series is taking away a mother-load of entry level FF DSLR sales from Canon, and Nikon.

            The A77II is already hammering away at the semi-pro market and;

The A88, and A99II are posed to hammer both their entry level, and high DSLR markets.

If you combine the Sony SLT, and CSC sales you’ll see a significant increase in their market share of the overall interchangeable lens market last 24 months, which will continue to rapidly grow. Within five years Sony will be the market leader.

        2. I guess A99 II will be 36Mp 8fps max
The processor is not fast enough to process the data,
unless sony put dual bionz x in the A99II 😛

      1. If the lens rumours are correct Sony may finally be getting serious about being a Pro camera manufacturer. For both mounts.

    2. They’re two different camera systems, designed for photographers that absolutely different needs. Its like asking what’s the difference between a Hummer, and a Toyota Prius.

It would take pages upon pages to explain it.

    3. Faster AF, Better AF-C, Higher FPS, IBIS, better Grip, better control, etc
The most important is it will fit all my A-mount lens 😛

  12. Anyone thinks A99ii will do internal 4k video? If it does I bet Sony will try to cripple it with aliasing or somesuch… Then release a 12 MP A88 in 6 months

    1. The Alpha One is going to be the 4K A-Mount camera. Its probably the first camera to house the 50+ mp FF sensor.

It’ll make the mp count of the A7r look antiquated, the 12mp of the A7s look childish, and the 12 fps of the A77 look slow.

      They’ll probably dedicate a (16:9 strip / 32mp) for 4K.

And they’ll probably sell plenty of 300mm, 400mm, and 500mm lenses to operate it.

      1. Your dreaming :)… They can’t put a 50MP sensor in it, as they are busy selling 50mp MF sensors to every Medium Format manufacturer. Overnight they would destroy their own market…Not going to happen.

        1. My 24MP camera can film in 1080p (about 2MP).
          Why woudn’t a 50MP camera be able to film in 2160p or 4K or even 8K ??

          2160p / UHDTV: 3840 × 2160
          4K: 4096 × 2160

          1. It can via sharpness-reducing line-skipping / pixel-binning. I didn’t say it cannot be done, it can but it’s not ideal.

      2. more then 12 fps in a 50mp sensor? I.like sony and they are good and all but that is like star wars tech.

      1. The A99II is designed to be a high resolution still camera, the GH4 falls into a different category and is not in competition with the A99II.

  13. A99R .36mp .5fps .1080p Resolution hungry .with mirror lock up .MF alterantive large prints.

A99 .24mp .8Fps .1080p Entry level .Alredy in production getting cheeper to produce.

A99S .12mp .12fps .4k Pro sports & wildlife negates light loss in large focal lengths
& Stl light loss.Features Industry leading AF .Internal storage for 4K Clips and Continuious
    12 FPS J pegs

    1. the A99s should havd a built in vertical grip. And sony could probably do more like 16 fps. If they did all of these things it could be a serious competieitor for the nikon d4s and the Canon 1dx which sony really needs.

    1. I have the Zeiss 16-35mm f/2.8, and it’s an incredible lens. Its practical glued to my A850. Its heavy, and an absolute brute to handle, but most of the pictures I’ve taken with it, are outstanding.

I’d pass on the Sigma and save the extra pennies for the Zeiss.

  14. I no longer care about resolution. 36mp is still chump change. compare that to a 130mp monster field camera using multistich and an a7r. For those of you serious about landscape the affordable digital answer is already out there.

    1. I think you need 34MP to film in 8K resolution… that would be a nice option.
Thought it might take a while before 8K monitors and projectors are avalible.

  15. If they release some more decent Primes for E-Mount, i will probably get the A6000 or A5100 instead of a M43 Camera.
