Last week, I told you that Sigma would hold another lens announcement event. Now it’s official! Sigma Germany has sent out a newsletter inviting photographers to a product announcement event on October 24.
It’s unusual for Sigma to issue this kind of major public invitation. Could something truly stunning be about to be announced?
We previously heard that Sigma was working on the world’s fastest full-frame autofocus lens—possibly a 65mm f/1.1 or even f/1.0. I hope to receive more information about the new lens—or lenses—soon!
The long wait will soon be over! Multiple trusted sources confirmed Sony will announce the new 400mm and 600mm GM lenses on September 15 at around 3/4 pm!
This morning, I told you that I was back after undergoing treatment that forced me to stay offline for three days. I couldn’t get in touch with my sources, but now I have good news: both the 600mm f/6.3 and the 400mm f/4.5 will be announced soon, so don’t worry.
And a source has just shared this first image of the 400mm lens with me for you. 😉
As you can see it has bit of a 300mm GM vibe without the drop in filter option. What do you think about this?
Sony 400mm GM for 3000€ (+-) just like the Nikkor lens
Sony 600mm GM for 4200€ (+-) 300 Euro less than the Nikkor lens
Sony 8-14mm G for 1.700€ (+-)
Thanks to the source for that info! I think the price is ok for that kind of lens! It’s as expensive or cheaper than the equivalent Nikkor lens. But it’s also much lighter and I suspect also optically superior!
And here we have the first leaked image of the new 8-14mm f/3.5 Fisheye G zoom lens! Let me know in the comment system if you spot something interesting on the image…I certainly have 😉
So, both Sony lenses will be lighter and more affordable than their Nikkor equivalents! The Sony 400mm GM is expected to cost around $500 less, while the 600mm GM could be approximately $1,300 cheaper. However, I’m still a little skeptical about the pricing information. It sounds too good to be true, and it’s possible that the source was referring to the wholesale price.
At last we are also going to get the Sony 8-14mm f/3.5 for around $1,499. But this is a fisheye zoom and honestly I couldn’t care less about this one 🙂
Overall that’s going to be a great release from Sony. What do you think?
