Sony teaser for a new “lady-friendly” Cybershot camera :)

Finally Sony started to tease something about the upcoming new cameras. But the teaser is quite…unusual 🙂 Sony China posted that image promising there will be a special new “lady-friendly” camera. It will be a cybershot camera ideal for taking self portraits that should work just like the [shoplink 27808 ebay]Casio TR-150 (here on eBay)[/shoplink].

You should not laugh at it. The market for “lady-friendly” cameras is growing fast in Asia!

  1. If selfies are a “lady friendly” feature, then the NEX 3N, 5R and 5T are already “lady friendly.”

That being said, I find it hard to believe that a selfie is a photography style that can define how women use of a camera. It almost says that vanity is a feature of women photographers.

    1. I prefer this review from Mr J Stevens:

Normally I only use pens designed and created for real men, in colours appropriate to such instruments of masculinity – black like my chest hair or blue like the steely glint of my eyes, or the metallic paintwork of my convertible Mustang sportscar. Imagine then the situation I found myself in when, upon taking delivery of another shipment of motorbike parts and footballs, I reached for and grasped not my normal BIC pen, but a `BIC for Her Amber Medium Ballpoint Pen’ (evidently ordered by my well-meaning, but ill-informed girlfriend whilst my back was turned). I knew something was wrong when I had to physically restrain my hands, gnarled and worn from a lifetime of rock-climbing and shark wrestling, from crushing the fragile implement like a Faberge egg. Things only went downhill from there.

Normally my hand writing is defined and strong, as if chiselled in granite by the Greek gods themselves, however upon signing my name I noticed that my signature was uncharacteristically meandering and looping. More worryingly the dots above the I’s manifested themselves as hearts, and I found myself finishing off the signature with a smiley face and kisses. Obviously I had no choice but to challenge the delivery man to a gun fight on the rim of an erupting volcano in order to reassert my dominance. Had I not won this honourable duel this particular mistake might have resulted in a situation that no amount of expensive single malt whiskey and Cuban cigars could banish. I leave this review here as a warning to all men about the dangers of using this particular device, and suffice-it-to-say will return to signing my name with a nail gun as normal.

    1. I thought all mirrorless came with a built in vibration that makes your images go all wobbly at the knees lol some call it shutter shock

  2. I can never get over how awful and condescending some Asian marketing and advertising is toward women. It’s not even subtle.

What next? A Vaio computer with a makeup mirror and a sandwich maker instead of a keyboard?

    1. Well it is neccessary to seperate gender in every aspect of life to keep the male dominance going. Give toys to the girls and equipment to the men. Hate that, too! (And I´m not a woman)

      1. You are mistaken. From a ladie’s POV, MEN are the ones who have TOYS. Women have…. accessories 🙂

    2. In one of their many “why our camera division , loses lots of money ” speeches. Olympus , blamed the lack of uptake from females as a major reason so maybe its not as daft as it sounds lol

      1. Ok – perhaps a gender gap in your customer base is a legit business issue. Solving it with obvious pandering is not a good solution. Why not try to own or grow the female enthusiast market in a serious way rather than do “Let’s remove all those confusing buttons and features so we don’t mix up their pretty little heads and make it pink and covered with ribbons”

      1. I would say that a more subtle, “Makes the bloggers at Salon.com angry” sexism in marketing is favorable vs. a straightforward “women are incapable of serious thought or photography” approach.

  3. Are we sure it’s about a Cybershot camera? Sony is about to release a selfie friendly Xperia smartphone , maybe this is it and had nothing to do with Cybershot.
The leak of the phone come from China and seems to aim this market particularly.

  4. People who take “Selfies” are narcissistic Brainwashed Idiots.
Please don’t make any cameras that help them be and do that.
