    1. BUT, it does not work with Sony cameras. So far I’m shit out of luck because I use Sony cameras and an iPhone.

  1. Does this APP only work on Android phones, not iPhones?!? If so, I will have to wait for the iPhone version. 🙁

    1. as the name implies it’s only for Android….

In a german forum the software company behind rcdroid said explicitly that where will be no iOS version.

      1. Thanks. Oh well..I hope Apple makes a similar APP, sometime soon. Such an APP would help me take photos of hummingbirds.

        1. I’m into mobile development too, and I can tell you that the method used by RCCdroid (USB-OTG mode) is impossible with standard iOS-Systems now and (due to Apples philosophy) in the future. With a jailbreak it could be possible in theory, but Apple uses a different programming language, so you can’t port code from RCCdroid

          1. Humm… Good idea. I just looked on eBay and found one for $20! I don’t suppose I even need to sign up for service. Thanks A77II (BTW that’s my current favorite camera) I still use my A900 if I need extreme wide angle.

  2. Is anyone using this?, is it better than Sony’s smart remote?, which isn’t bad they just need to bring more controls into it.

  3. It’s a USB connected deal. The Playmemories app is wireless and does more stuff.

Not sure what this is for.

          1. There should be little difference. They’ll fix it, although they do not seem to be nearly as good as Fuji in responding to software problems.

          2. That’s simply not true. They’ve released multiple fixes for the mobile app. It’s far better that the first version I used (the first cut was pretty unreliable). Maybe there’s a shortcoming of the A77II but it works fine on the three different Sony cameras I use.

  4. Where is it save the images on the card or on the phone? Last time I checked Sony (shame on you) did not put an option to save it on the SD and transfer it to the tethering device.

  5. That’s a pretty fugly app. And looking at the app comments, the developer has some pretty piss poor customer management skills.

    1. The UI looks pretty uncool, but the members of the german sonyuserforum cannot complain about the support of the developer team. Some of our requests have been realized in a few hours.

  6. I bought the Pro Version and had to buy the OTG adapter like it required. This is Not a good product. The Play memories with A7II works wirelessly. This one needs a USB cable. I don’t know why Sony Alpha Rumors would even list such a product. I got taken on this one.

  7. I kinda like this app. I use it on my a6000 with my galaxy s5 active. The interface is a little lacking and i have problems if I try to preview each image from my phone after they’re taken.

I believe it has a little more functionality than the wireless Play Memories wireless app. An On-The-Go cable is required but it’s a really convenient cable for other uses as well (reading from hard drives and flash drives).

Also, this app can save to either internal phone memory or SD card.

I’d say it’s definitely worth $5 even if you need to buy the $5 OTG cable.

Also, does anyone know of a system that can simultaneously do a timelapse interval ramp and a bulb ramp? Preferably one that’s somewhat customizable. I’d like to do a timelapse that quickly intervals through a sunset and then does a long interval for the night sky.
