Nikon announced the new Z5 IIc at BHphoto, Amazon, Adorama, Fotokoch, FotoErhardt, Calumet, Clifton, WexUK.
In short, this is basically a Nikon Z5II with the EVF chopped off and a $300 discount. It looks a bit like a Sony A7C II without the EVF. I’m not sure whether Sony should offer something similar. On paper, the ZV-E1 is a more direct competitor, but it’s simply too expensive for that role.

In the past years Sony used to announce very important camera in the last quarter of the year. Here you can see the list:
- — Sony Cinema Line FX6
- — Sony Alpha 7 IV
- — Sony Alpha 7R V
- — Sony Alpha 9 III
- — Sony Alpha 1 II
- — Sony Alpha 7 V
But 2026 could become an exception. The problem is that the DRAM shortage is affecting the entire industry. Even big companies like APPLE are struggling.
Back to Sony:
- Sony still can’t ship the Sony FX5
- Sony has registered NO new camera in Asia
- I haven’t heard about any new camera event planned for Q4
Of course, I hope a miracle will happen and that I’ll hear some rumors about a new camera soon. But I’m a bit skeptical. Even if Sony planned to announce a new camera (the A7S IV?) in November, it might be forced to delay the launch by a couple of months. 🙁
Sony lenses:
When it comes to lenses we shall see no delays. We might get those lenses before Christmas:
- The 28mm G (probably /1.8 and a successor of this very old 28mm NON-G lens)
- The 40mm G (probably f/1.8 as we already do have a slower f/2.5 lens)
- The 16-28mm f/2.0 GM
Stay tuned folks, hopefully I can give you some solid rumors soon!
As you know Sony recently announced the new 7 inch monitor (at BH here) and the 5 inch monitor (at BH here). Newsshooter talked to a Sony manager about these new products.

Asobinet spotted the patent for a new 50-130mm f/2.8 Full Frame lens. The main selling point here is that this would be a more compact and more affordable f/2.8 mid range zoom.
As usual there is no guarantee this will make it into final mass production. But do you think they should make it?
