Math Photographer tested the first Chinese Full Frame AF zoom lens every made. The new Thypoch 24-50 f/2.8 you get for $649 at BHphoto, Adorama, FotoErhardt, Typoch Store (use code “Andrea” to save 5%).
He thinks this is an exceptional budget-friendly zoom lens that delivers build quality, internal zooming, and image performance comparable to high-end Sony G Master lenses at a fraction of the cost.
I got some wild hints about a Sony event coming in mid-October. I don’t know if it’s for a new product launch or a launch event for the official Sony FX5 shipping start. As you know, Sony did indeed register a new camera in Asia. However, with the current DRAM shortage and the difficulties with the FX5 shipments, I cannot see how they could announce a new camera and ship it within a reasonable amount of time.
If you have more info about this drop me a message using this contact form or contact me at sonyalpharumors@gmail.com. Thanks!
Amazon completely removed the preorder option on the Sony FX5 (click here). They will only bring preorders back once Sony officially confirms the ship date. Other stores list October dates, but those are just guesses.

Sony India posted this image on Instagram. However, on closer inspection, it’s clearly AI-generated—and contains a ton of bizarre details! I’ve highlighted just a few, but you can have fun finding the remaining quirks yourself.
Companies increasingly rely on AI tools to create promotional images. It’s one way to save money, but it can also produce some rather embarrassing results 🙂

Thanks to the tipster!
The new Sony 8-14mm Fisheye G lens will start to ship out soon. On top you can see the lens in a stereoscopic rig setting. Sony deliberately limited the lens diameter to 63.1mm, allowing the two lenses to sit almost against each other. At 8mm, each lens produces a circular 180° fisheye image. The two recordings are synchronized and converted into stereoscopic VR180 footage for headsets such as Vision Pro or Meta Quest. Cool!

Here are two new reviews of this lens:

B&H Photo currently lists this lens as a “Top Seller” but has not yet postponed the start of shipments. Let’s hope it stays that way!
