This is the first in a series of my wife on our wedding day – yes I had to shoot my own wedding, she wouldn’t accept anyone else. Shot with Sony a7r.

Stefan Grosjean‎
Sony A7S @ ISO20’000 (!), 1/40, FE 24-70 @ 24mm, F4, OSS on
“I stood in Venice, on the Bridge of Sighs;
A palace and a prison on each hand:
I saw from out the wave her structures rise
As from the stroke of the enchanter’s wand:
A thousand years their cloudy wings expand
Around me, and a dying Glory smiles
O’er the far times, when many a subject land
Look’d to the winged Lion’s marble piles,
Where Venice sate in state, throned on her hundred isles!”
~Lord Byron
That’s how I like Venice the best: Middle of the night, cold weather, heavy rain, high tide, black water … and no people. That’s when the ghosts of the unlikeliest of all cities come back and whisper about the dark ages.

I noticed the lovely photo of Richard Timewell’s, HK Harbour Lights photo had a Junk sailing in the foreground. I think I got the same Junk sailing into port with the sails down last Saturday. This was taken with the A7mk2 and the 28-70mm kit lens that comes with it. I have been happily surprised with the performance of this lens.

  1. a couple of the pics look more like paintings…sorry, i still want a picture to look like a picture…way overdone with HDR

  2. I wish we could scroll over the pic and have an “expand” option. These are pretty solid pictures this week. I’d like to partake of their full out awesomeness on my monitor without having to switch over to FB.
