There’s also a new Light Painting App available.
It’s available for two months now:

Not working on my a99. Please update a99.
First of all I think the name is kind of misleading because everbody’s first thought is that you can do tilt shift effects in software with this app (and the first shot is even done with a tilt shift lens – not helping).
Second, I do a lot of timelapses and I would never rob me of the fun of doing a proper post from raw files. Letting the camera do white balance,crop-panning, downscaling etc. is so much inferior to having a proper workflow that starts with a raw processor. Timelapses are fun, because you can do 4k raw-quality videos with a point and shoot like a rx100II. I do not own a sony camera that has apps, so I cannot tell first hand, but this app seems only good for dumming things down.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xcEkzIgjNNg This Timelapse was shot on earlier mentioned camera in a heavily light poluted city. This would not have been possible with an in camera app that throws away most of the raw data
You are missing the whole point of this App. It is obviously not aimed at users like yourself. This app makes more than basic timelapse video accessible to most users. How much time does it take you to do all the post processing? And it would certainly take much longer for inexperienced users. I think many users would appreciate the simplicity in getting great looking timelapse video. Don’t be so quick to dismiss something especially when you are not the target user.
I appreciate your point. It really takes time to process everything, but then again the functionality of this app is only a very small step up from what my smartphone can do. The effort Sony puts into those apps sometimes seems disproportionate.
and how your smartphone can catch a star trail?
this apps are using full photo res and just crop and shift them, its most welcome for me, i dont have to bring my motorized slider to have the same effect, just bring the 10-18.
YOU have whole time in this world, i am not.
and this app makes FULLFRAME cam as easy as your “stupid smart” phone camera.
where did you get a small step up from smartphone to Fullframe?
did u using a medium format smart phone?
Smartphones can catch star trails by image stacking, no big deal. Panning through the crop of the image gives a completely different effect than having a motorized physical movement of the camera(I envy you for having a motorized dolly ^^) . It might at best mimic a rotation. And I am well aware that a smartphone sensor will not rival a full frame sensors(having only a 1″ sensor cam myself I am painfully aware of the iq difference that comes with sensor size). But the sensor size cast aside smartphones can do a lot of crazy stuff today if you are willing to trade off ultimate iq.
I would rather have a feature rich intervalometer app than having this use case driven apps is all I want to say
“I do not own a sony camera that has apps…”
Exactly. Otherwise you would know that with this app you can have it give you both the raw image files as well as a completed movie file.
Ok, nice to know. Can it do continous shooting in the meaning of having ie a 3 second exposure and directly start the next exposure without a delay without any gap?

Does the timelapse app meanwhile support the silent shutter mode of the A7S?
I can’t get them, region is not supported. this is sucks.
Is this already available for download or not? I can’t find it for my a7 nor my a6000…. and i already own and bought the timelapse app …
