Whats this site called again?
PeopleWithLotsOfTimeOnTheirHandsToWasteOnTheInternet.com?
When the Panasonic GH4 or GH5 or whatever it will be called…it will blow this camera out of the water. Sony has a history of crippled products.
Ah yes, the numbers game. Have you actually used any ‘GH whatever it is called’ enough to make such a comment?
I have, and if you haven’t here’s a quick test you can do to see if you can tell the difference in bitrate.
Open a tif photograph in Photoshop. Reduce its dimensions to about 1920×1080 pixels. Click save as, and save it a number of times as a jpeg, with quality set at 70%, 80%, 90% and 100% of best quality. Open each image again and sharpen them so they look as close as possible to each other, and save as tifs.
Now ask someone to order then in image quality order, lowest to highest, and see if they get them in order.
To save you the trouble, you will find that bitrate is far from proportional to image quality, and you have to far more than double it to get even a noticeable change in actual quality. Things like proper focusing, dynamic range and color correction are infinitely more important, an you may even find that increasing bitrate only increases the ability to capture noise, so high bitrates actually look worse if you are running with a hot camera or in less than ideal lighting conditions. Further, most DLSR video is actually shot ‘soft’ to get the DSLR video effect (low aperture, 24-30fps, 1/50s shutter), so high bitrates just give you high filesize and longer post processing overhead for no good reason.
That’s my experience anyway.
Sorry, typo: ‘DSLR film effect’.
Wonder if the iphone 5s having slow motion video recording. Will it soon or this time will be available at sony camera too? A phone now can having slow motion recording why not a camera? i think very soon?
I’d rather they put a phone in the RX100 and be done with it.
Is the FDR-AX1 using an E or FZ mount?
This is a typically handheld run’n’gun camcorder with built-in lens, like all cameras before video DSLR-boom. Lots of people don’t need big sensor. What do you expect?
Ahh Thanks,.
photos of this romeocolombo guy are pretty good
