Dear Sony CEO Kazuo Hirai –
You have to overhaul you Camera department members of your
Marketing Engineering camera teams. They are implementing too
many proprietary connectors and sufficating your users and
your entire DSLR SLT Models platform
4 Current DSLR SLT Models – You locked in too much
highly proprietary connectiivity technology in your A99 & A58 models
that are forcing your DSLR SLT Models platform to be NON Viable.
FLASH – Two of the four current SLT models that have been released with a new highly proprietary hot shoe for flash.
1) Only one TTL flash in the industy works with that new shoe
and it is less that half the power GN91 of models your just discontinued
2) Highly Proprietary Connections KILL OFF great THIRD party innovations
to your entire DSLR SLT Models platform
Can you help you users here. Open up your platform connections of the shoe, work with others, cooperatively, please, release new flashes immmediately.
Thanks
PS I contacted your own Sony Chat sales help line for product sales
I got a salesperson on the Chat line for products adapter number
After asking me to hold with fluff answers and delays for 10 minutes.
They provided the parts department 800 number.
You do not have to go very far to understand
why your newest A99 flagship is not selling.
but in the meantime can you help us with a
new power DSL flash. We have work to do. Thanks
I’m just afraid that his response will be as that of non-understanding people: “we have adapters for the flashes with the old hot shoe” … not taking into account the many complaints of those who’ve used the adapters – such as “the flash slides out and falls of!”
I think you underestimate the size of Sony. Kazuo Hirai certainly isn’t involved in decisions like that.
Really Impressed by the “marco” shots of the RX1. Awsome details and sharpness. If I just had the money for it ….
marco = macro
Those aren’t macro shots, they are crops of close-ups.
That’s why I put macro in ” “.
Oh gawd, the “A77 1080p video is upsampled 720p” nonsense again. How many times was that debunked again?
The guy is a tool that compares 24mp downsampled stills to video output and draws conclusions from that. Without realizing that practically no video DSLR can obtain such quality 720p output. Lineskipping plus blurring to mask moire and stairstepping takes away measured resolution, hence why so many DSLR’s are suffering from this.
He counts fake detail (moire, merging lines, lines changing direction, see his own examples) as detail, which is what the makers try to avoid.
I had Panasonic GH2 (non-hacked) and compared it to A33, A55, NEX-5,6,7. Panasonic indeed has noticeably more detailed and clear video. And Panasonic 1:1 mode has even better quality.
It’s a smaller sensor, not A DSLR and most importantly, no line skipping. Compare it to a D7000 or 600D and you’ll see what I mean.
But even a video frame from the GH2 in 720P cannot match a A77 still image downsampled to 720P. Which shows how silly his “proof” is to begin with.
I have the A77 and the video is indeed very soft, not happy with the sharpness. My RX100 does much better.
Yep, smaller sensor, less line skipping.
I’ve shot video extensively with the NEX 5n, RX100, NEX 6, NEX 5r. Rx100 looks like real 1080p, but the sensor is approx. Super 16mm size.
NEX5n looks like smooth 720p. NEX 6 and 5r look like 720p with awful aliasing/moire (like a Canon 7D in 60p mode). Lower your expectations with these cams. The Canon DSLRs don’t do 1000 lines either. In my experience, web audiences and prosumer clients don’t really care or notice the missing resolution.
If you need 1000 lines, go with the Panasonic GH3, Sony FS100, FS700, or Canon C-series.
Exactly. Until recently, all high resolution APS-C and larger sensors found in DSLR’s and such had to resort to line skipping and a very basic (low on resources) blur filter to reduce aliasing and moire. Not to be confused with upsampling from 720p…..
The new Toshiba sensor used in tge D5200 and 7100 seems to have made quite a bit of progress in this area (less or no line skipping).
… but trades it for banding, sadly.
+1!
My comment pertains to the Mitros bit. I just attempted the same scenario and had no experience like his. My label is razor sharp and doesn’t have the same issues his did with the a77. I call question to his processing.
The only reason I clarify is that I think a lot of people have really poor post skills and don’t properly understand what they’re doing. They get all tied up with line skipping and pixel binning but don’t actually get it and then want to blame the product.
I earn my living making digital media and if you told me five years ago that I’d be able to shoot a quality (remember hdv crap) piece with a $600 camera?
The a77 vid quality is very, very good. I just don’t understand how something so simple becomes subject to all these weird tests that have nothing to do with actually creating something!
I can understand needing video in a pinch, but did anyone seriously buy their SLT looking for blu-ray quality video? Moot point.
If you want video, just save and buy a video camera. Simple.
