There is some confusion about the shipping date of the new A7rII. Sony officially stated the camera will ship in August. But different stores give different dates:
USA:
July 28 at BHphoto (Click here)
August 30 at Amazon (Click here)
Europe:
August 7 at Cameta Germany (Click here).
August at Wexphotographic UK (Click here).
Asia:
Late July at CameraPro Australia (Click here).
Let’s see what store placed the correct “guess” on the date 🙂

Still no preorder link for Europe, even on Sony Store!! 🙁
3,198.00 dollars and 3,500,00 euros?
this is crazy 🙂
3.198,00 dollars and 3.500,00 euros?
this is crazy 😀
Unfortunately, not entirely: If you divide by the USDEUR exchange rate and, for example in case of Germany, multiply by 1,19 for a VAT of 19%, you get about 3460 EUR. Close enough. Other European countries even have higher VAT rates.
Especially now with the USd at 1.13 for 1 EUR.
I assume that being an import camera or fooling pre-orderes.
If 3.198 $ is a confirmed US price, we can assume the same value in €.
£2518 here . . .

Don’t know anything about this retailer however.
CVP is legit. You can see some of their vans roaming London and they are at trade shows too. Video specialist.

Also that price seems higher even than on Europe.
Lets pray for the Euro do depreciate.
I would like to know if the a7rII has iron out the compatibility with HVL-60M flash or others that has the MIS.
Adorama reporting latest from Sony is shipping end of August. I would like to wait for a price drop but it may be awhile. Plus it won’t drop until I buy it so I will do you all a favor and get it asap.
Did admin. get a tally of how many pre-orders were placed yesterday? Inquiring minds want to know!
Also when will we know who won the rebates?
I can tell you Barry – admin did 🙂
£2599 in the UK.

I’ll bite for that!
I won’t. Wait a while. Wait for the reviews. Wait for the firmware updates. Wait for the deals. Let’s face it, that’s still a bucket load of cash.
I spoke eoth B&H.
The shipment dates given by any of these companies are not actual dates. They are just projections . The fact that different companies give differrent dates has no bearing on when these products will actually ship.
I just did it and pre-ordered one… hopefully it’s worth the money but I need it asap for holiday in September…
the first rumors said the Sony Axxx or A7000 would be released first and then A7R II a bit later ….. Seems like the heat issue postponed the A6xxx replacement. Then to not get hated more, Sony decided to release the A7R II
Adorama said 7/28 yesterday, but has August 30th today. Not sure if that means present availability based on new orders, or if it’s a revised ship date for all orders. One thing I’m pissed about is that I was #13 on the list at Adorama for the A7R2 and #2 for the RX100M4 and they cancelled my order and gave me a new order number two days later. They’re promising to put me back to my original place in the queue, but with this kind of uncertainty, maybe I should have ordered at B&H.
Exactly the same happened to me. Except they wouldn’t tell me my place in line. They did tell me that they expected to start receiving cameras at the end of July. But as someone pointed out yesterday, there isn’t necessarily any correlation between when they receive units and when they are allowed to ship them to customers.
As far as my orders were concerned, I just heard back from Adorama that my original order was cancelled because the telephone salesperson took my order 2 hours before online sales were available, which he was not authorized to do. I was a bit suspicious at the time, but didn’t argue when he volunteered to take my orders then and there. So that order was cancelled and re-made sometime afterwards, thus losing my place in line.
Does B&H also show your # ?
I doubt it. The salesperson told me my place on the phone when I was trying to make the orders. Anyhow, that turned out to be a waste of time. I should have just ordered online.
No preorder on the US Sony store. How is that OK?

Very cool web site!!! Selling a few lenses and cameras myself, mostly on eBay 🙂
If anybody interested in the A7r or the A7m2 – simply reply to this message. Also have the Sigma 50-500 A-mount for sale (had no chance to use it much…). All gear is in “like new” condition.
Thank you Oleg ,, and good luck selling your gear
Wow, going off the deep end huh. I’m sure it’ll be worth it:)
Oh yes… Since “my precious” works nicely with the Metabones mk4 it simply opens new horizons (along with wallets 🙂 for the Sony users: most likely the Sigma 150-600 Sports EF is going to replace the 50-500 A 🙂 I was also thinking about giving up on my 24-70 ZA and getting the 24-70L EF instead, but after checking the eBay prices for a used ZA decided to stick with the ZA (~$1000 diff compared to the new EF). Resale value of the A-mount lenses sucks these days.
…and nice website by the way. I like the layout.
Thanks 🙂
the problem is the layout is making the website to load slowly
Great work Virus X.
thank you Ryan
Care to share some prices you’re looking for? Thanks.
I didn’t decide yet , I will check prices first to give reasonable prices depending on market
are you interested in one of those lenses ?
Yes. 16-50 2.8 since I picked up the A77II.
$370 including shipping charges is fair price IMO , what do you think ?
Fair price and I’ll definitely give it some consideration. Thanks!
Ha – guess you’re not interested in my Sigma 500mm anymore?!?! I’m switching too, but will try using that lens with the LA-EA4, for now.
LOL .. you caught me :p
I found a great deal on Sony 500mm f/4 :/
with LA-EA4 adapter the lens will work just great btw
bingo… folks comparing prices usually forget about the VAT rates that make thing much more expensive than they should be…. Of course we still get hit with sales taxes in the US that can be pretty high too only you don’t see those listed on those price figures just the pre-tax price.
Stop taking us for fools…. Everyone knows you can easily get almost anything without taxes in US. Just on B&H for exemple, so in Europe 3500 euros vs in US 2814 euros (3200USD). Looks like 700euros, almost a grand, difference.
And in most states when you buy something from another state on the internet you are required to pay a use tax which is normally that same as your local sales tax. You might not do it, and might not ever get caught… but sometimes when a state does an audit of your state income taxes they actually look at your credit card statements to see if you made out of state purchases that you should have paid taxes on.
B&H ships internationally I think, just order there.
Well, you wanted nanny state, so, there you have it. Stop whining, you people asked for it.
I wonder how fast and by how much it will fall in price post launch. It’s too much right now for me to justify, also without any serious reviews out there.
I’m not the sort of person who yields to hype. I can see it’s a good camera, but is it 2,599 Pounds good?
I’m not sure. I have a specific travelling need. I’m a good enough photographer that ibis doesn’t help me as much as a novice. It doesn’t still your subject, it doesn’t blur water, it does a lot for unprepared shots. For me, I’m not convinced worth the weight. I’d rather see some properly sealed lenses with gaskets, or some lenses with gaskets that have sealing.
Mirrorless cameras are extremely cheap to make. I’m aware of development costs but sony have always ramped their prices high on all of their products to start with. To me, it’s not £2,599 good and it might work out cheaper if I buy it in the USA when I’m next visiting. I’d see this differently if sony weren’t so quick to drop their prices. Their pricing strategy has kicked the nail in the coffin as far as me pre-ordering it. I am definitely buying it at some point.
I’d be happy to still spend the same amount of money with sony, only I’d put it towards their native glass. For this money, I’d expect it to come with a free lens, or another charger and some batteries. A £499 lens doesn’t cost them £499 to make obviously, so if they included a lens, I’m sure it’d make a lot of people happier and they’d still profit.
I think those that know about this camera and know about photography, and know they want this camera, will be those that want to pre-order. I think once that period goes, there’ll be few people that go into a shop with the intention to buy a camera, and want to spend that much.
People can forget the development costs. That’s not why this camera is expensive. The contract with nikon more than pays for that. People need to simply look at sony’s history. They’ve always operated this way
So basically, you’re playing it smart:) Yes, the enthusiasm will settle a bit after release although I don’t consider this product hyped all that much- it’s legitimately desirable. Grey market- I’m thinking 4-5 months. Save quite a few bills that way.
1. Sony store sucks compared to other websites. I only like it because I can get 25% off.
2. The a7IIR is the #1 best seller mirrorless on amazon right now. Ridiculous.
“The a7IIR is the #1 best seller mirrorless” Considering the price, that’s surprising.
nice to get employee discount, but sony probably wants to sell the camera to full price paying customers first. camera stores get less than 25% profit margin.
there was a lota pent up demand for this camera so most people preordered within the first day and therefore #1 on amazon.
How do I get employed there for 3 hours?
I really wish Sony priced this bit more aggressively. Going price for new Nikon D810 in Europe is around 2800 Euros, which put current pre-order prices for A7rII (around 3500 Euros) quite above it. Yes, the IQ will be better (resolution, high ISO, DR) due to better sensor. Yes, is much smaller and lighter. Yes, it has EVF. Yes, it can be used with adapted lenses.
But Nikon has dual card slots, likely faster AF, faster tethering and wider lens choice, many of which are cheaper.
Perhaps Sony will adjust the pricing once early birds get their pre-orders, but if they don’t, this might be a tough sell for many.
it’s true here in usa and europe. but now that there are more millionaires in asia and they are the biggest consumers that often don’t care about price tags as long as they get the latest and the best.
This is quite a change from the very aggressively priced A77II though…
Maybe they just want to cash in on the unique sensor and unique stills/video capabilities in one body, before competition catches up. In that case pricing should be adjusted as D900 (or whatever the name will be) and 5D4 get announced, which probably is not too far away.
True, but it is an affluent middle class that is critical to Sony. How many millionaires are there in China that want a camera vs cellphone and how many have free time to use such a camera? I don’t know the answers, but I do know that stockholders/board members would be pretty unhappy should Sony give away unique technologies that required a good bit of R&D money.
