I’m not sure if all the 300 cameras are on that pallet, but if so it would mean that this nice stack is worth almost a million dollars 🙂
That pallet has 80 cameras and he’s holding one 🙂
How did you figure out the count?
I counted 320 cameras – if you look closely, each box says QTY,QTE:2 and there are two pallets he is standing next to, each with 80 boxes.
RingFoto: Worst company ever. Amazon is so much better in any way.

Is this shot with an a7RII?!
Very flat contrast and not in focus, maybe because of the bad light? 🙂
Check out the noisy shadows, it’s clearly taken with a 5Ds.
🙂
Can I pick up a camera in the center of the pallet for free?
Nobody will notice anything…pls
I just received mine at my retailer’s store. 🙂
Can’t wait to finish work.
I haven’t been so excited since my purchase of my former A99 in 2012. 🙂
The guy on the photo is right to thumb up – he’ll make 300 customers happy today. Hehe.
It’s August 5th already- A99II rumors should be hitting before the end of the month.
Not happy enough with A7RII?
I have a feeling I will once the price of the A99II is announced.
I’m not holding my breath…
there was no rumor of 42mp camera until it was announced. there will be no info or useful rumor until a99ii/a9 is announced, before the end of the year.
Somehow I don’t think an A99II is coming. I think Sony is done with A-mount.
It just doesn’t make sense to do that. Anyone who would buy one of their updated lenses for over 2k so they can adapt them onto the A7 series cameras- is a complete crack head. You would have to absolutely be insane to do such a thing. If Sony thought that was acceptable then they don’t deserve to be in the camera business.
No, I think it is coming. Whether it’ll suck or not remains to be seen. One body won’t do it either, but that’s probably what we’ll get. I think it’ll be proceeded by soft marketing and another 3 years of support.
A year from now when there is still no updated a99 and sony has not introduced any new a mount bodies or lenses, come back and we can talk.
If they don’t pump out a body they can take my cameras, lenses and accessories and shove them up their Sony universe A mount a…..
I get the market is tough, but man- they haven’t even tried with A mount.
Well, maybe they realize that they can do better with on-sensor AF systems and that the SLT design always leaves them with a permanent 1/3 light penalty. Maybe they should start making truly mirrorless A mount bodies. That might be interesting – only problem is that they are stuck with a certain flange to sensor distance due to the mount. I say a better solution is to make an A99-like e-mount body and make a really excellent A-to-E mount adapter (better than the current one). Then you can have your cake and eat that sh** to.
300 A7rIIs? That is a million bucks right there. I wonder what kind of discount they got with investment like that.
Seems like normal business.
Hell, my local Best Buy doesn’t even have the A7II out on display yet; they still only have the Mk I.
Yes, I thought this BestBuy thing was strange as well. My local best buy has only low end aps-c sensored DSLRs and an A6000 on display – and that is the highest end product they have in the store. I have never seen anything full frame on display. And I live in a very large US city, in the residential area. Strange.
LOL, my Best Buy only has the A7S. Like, wtf?
I checked Best Buy. The 3 closest stores accepted orders for 3-5 day delivery. When expanding for the metro area (Orlando) of the 9 stores, 2 had in stock for delivery today. These are also very “updated” stores rather than your standard Best Buy. Like all Best Buys have created “mini-stores” in the computer departments with dedicated floorspace for Microsoft, Apple, and Samsung, these two have dedicated “mini stores” in their camera department with dedicated displays for Nikon, Canon and Sony. Displays are a thing of beauty with the backside enclosed and displaying high end glass (including f2.8) which they have in stock as well as flash. The front side table has cameras specific to that brand set up for hands on.
My local store even has a Sony display, but it’s primarily the APS-C bodies, along with an A7 mkI. It seems they must vary a lot from store to store.
I think you described what every Best Buy has. A small display that “caps” the end of an aisle hiding the back of counters that make up 2 aisles. Typically, it will have 4 Sony cameras, mostly A6000/5000/3000 and a couple of lens, including the 55 1.8. What I am talking about in 2 stores locally is a freestanding display dedicated to Sony. The wall front is the Sony logo readable from across the store with the back side stocked with at least 20 lens, including A, F and FE glass, and the entire flash line. Jutting off the front side is a table at least 10′ long with cameras displayed on both sides. Repeat similar displays for Nikon and Canon. They created these about the same time that the Sony Store closed in the mall and according to the Sony rep that was in Best Buy, this “botique” concept is what Sony is trying to evolve to. Let’s hope it expands to more Best Buys. Makes sense that they would be the first to have the new models.
Is the BestBuy eBay auction actually in stock? It doesn’t say the quantity.
i cancelled my b and h order as I called them this morning and they said they did not have enough to cover my order. Bestbuy does not have any cameras available for pick up at any of my local stores. Amazon shows 1 to 2 months right now.
That’ll change. Give it a week.
I am trying to buy locally at camera stores, who knows maybe they will have some stock.
I’m wondering about my b&h order as well. Their website is still showing “pre-order” status last time I checked this AM. I’ve not gotten an email from them that my camera was shipped, either. I will try to call them later to see if I get the same message you did. 🙁
you can call them on 800 number and they guy with straight up tell you if your order was covered or not
check your CC as well. Mine showed the charge this morning (west coast)
except in paying taxes for their earnings (i’m talking about amazon).
Any BH shipping confirmations. I ordered first 3 minutes.
Just checked my credit card and saw that it was charged today; my order status on B&H is now “order sent to warehouse”.
Mine says shipped. I also ordered as quickly as I saw it was available.
Why do UK/EU customers get shafted with price? $3199 = £2050. Yet to buy in a shop in the UK you’re looking at £2599. Why?
taxes? market? shipping? IDK..
Well, add on the VAT and it’s £2460.00.
VAT of course. I forget that in the US you add VAT to things after the fact. That makes more sense 🙂 thank you.
we don’t add VAT because we don’t have it : )
still no universal healthcare : (
Yes, mine is shipping now. You can call B&H or look up your order and it will tell you that it’s processing and order has been sent to the warehouse.
Best Buy is carrying them today and two of them in my area have them in stock. Tempted to just go get one today but I guess I can wait until Monday to save $200 in tax.
Mine is also shipping from BH, Went for overnight shipping because I am leaving town Friday morning. Still saved over 200 in tax with the overnight shipping.
For those of you who have legacy lenses (I do not, since this will be my first FF camera), can anyone recommend a long-reach telephoto that will work on this camera – say up to 400mm for wildlife/safari/bird photography? I don’t mind using an adaptor, but the Sony 70-200mm just is a little short for some wildlife photos, so I am holding off on investing in it, and hoping that there are some other longer-reach choices that will be compatible with this camera.
I cannot judge the spped for wildlife, but I was using the Sony SAL 70400G2 on my A99 and on my A7II via LA-EA4. On the A7II AF was not that speedy than on my A99, but sufficient for my style. Center was perfect at any setting, borders and corners well, with little improvement stopped down 1 stop.
During my A-mount journey I tried the 150-500 and the 50-500. I disliked both for mediocre AF performance, the 150-500 was usable, but the 50-500 was a pain in the a….
A Nikon friend checked the Tamron 150-600 at Photokina last year on his D800 and was considering a buy due to his hands-on.
A Canon friend is currently absolutely mega-happy with his new 100-400 MK2.
I guess I will try that on my new A7R2 with the Metabones MKIV.
Seems to be the best choice for adapted lenses on A7 series.
Thanks – I didn’t look into the Canon 100-400, but I will. Do you think it is superior to the Sony 70-400? Would the LA-EA3 adaptor work for the Sony 70-400 on the A7RII? – I’m not sure I get the difference in the function of the two Sony adaptors right now.
Just as a note, there are plenty of good performing Canon lenses on the used market if price is an issue… Full Frame too.
I walked right into Best Buy and walked out with an A7RII. No preorder. I feel blessed and lucky. Happy Birthday to me.
Amazon had mine back ordered, had pre-ordered it over a month ago – cancelled that and managed to snag the last one through Focus Camera, where I purchased my previous a7R. Thanks SAR.
Yeah, same here – had preordered on Amazon, but no update on shipping estimate, so cancelled and picked one up from Best Buy, along with a 55mm f/1.8. It’s my first Sony body, and the first non-Canon lens I’ve bought in years, and can’t wait to start testing.
When you say picked up- like, you walked into the store and they had one?
Yes. Only one location (out of the 20 or so within 4-5 hour drive from here) has it in stock. And that just happened to be the one closest to me.
Life is all about timing, being at the right place at the right time. 🙂
Congratulations on finding this still rare camera, hope you enjoy it. Please share your observations good or bad with the group.
I’m actually suprised by the reviews of this thing. Usually you already start hearing about the flaws- but thus far, no such thing. Every personal review so far seems to be praising it- saying it’s even better than they thought. 3200.00- ouch, but dang. This just might get the WOW award this year.
One thing I don’t understand about the a7 lineup, why the FPS so low? I wish they had a speed demon model.
to cut cost and leave room for higher end models.
Technical flaws it will surely have minor ones I suppose – depending on particular needs of the particular reviewer.
Considering the whole there is a little surprise (positive as well as negative) when unboxing it.
On the nice side there are some accessories – you get two batteries, an external batterie charger and a cable holder for HDMI cable fixation.
On the sad side – the box feels a bit cheap / unspectacular (compared for example with the NEX7 years ago, or currently with a Zeiss Batis box). The USB cable is a really cheap one, so are the ac cables. And instead of the UK ac cable I would have preferred the PCK-LM15 (display protector).
Don’t get me wrong – this has of course nothing to do with its capabilities in terms of stills and video – but it is still a nuisance.
I paid ahead of 3k€, in that sense the accessories should be of better quality.
They have been listening to our feedbacks and they fixed some of the problems from the previous generation of the A7 series. A good company always listen to their customers and this is why they deserve our support by buying their products and recommending it to others.
Now if they can only increase the battery life capacity. They have billions of Yen they can put into Research & Development for this technology. And a flash system with built-in radio transceiver, HSS and heatsink. Imagine the A9 camera than can control a flash wirelessly and “internally” w/o using an add-on transmitter? And they can also add the depth of field metering from the Batis lens OLED UI directly into the camera’s screen. It would been easier to look directly into the EVF than take off your eyes from it just to check out the meter.
Oh and I’m still waiting for the updated Carl Zeiss 135mm f1.8 II w/ SSM from you Sony 😉
True, we don’t have VAT, we have sales tax. While VAT is included in the posted price, sales tax is added at the time of sale. With an average 7% sales tax, add $224 and the purchase price becomes $3424. Of course, you can avoid sales tax with B&H and a few others, but those walking out Best Buy with the camera today didn’t, and recently, Amazon started charging sales tax in my State. Of course, if you bought is for business, where the entire purchase is a deduction, if audited by the State, you better show that you paid the sales tax…or they will collect it through the audit.
Big Thanks To SAR for the heads up on this as i was able to walk right into to a local best buy on launch day and take them for my trip this past weekend to disney world!! This camera after this is AMAZING!!
