After tomorrow (june 27) at 6-7am London time Sony will announce the new RX1R and the RX100MII. A new source sent me the following mail:

“have just received confirmed information that RX100MKII will come with these optional accessories:
Grip Attachment, Made to match your RX100 or RX100M2, made from a hard-wearing elastomer and polycarbonate-like material to handle everyday wear and tear
Filter Adapter, Filter adapter for Cyber-shot™ RX100 and RX100M2 cameras with guide ring, base ring and remover, Works with a lens cap, Quickly connects to a 49mm filter and MC protector.”

Be sure to be online after tomorrow! Let’s see if there will be some kind of unexpected surprise…

  1. Very nice accessories ! Especially the filter adapter (how on Earth will this fit on the lens ? Glued like the MagSafe filter ring ?)

It’s clear by now that the RX100 will still remain in the market after the RX100M2 launches. I mean, all the accessories also work on the RX100, so it seems that Sony probably has some plans to keep it at a lower price point.

I sold my RX100 for the M2, but the 2.3mm extra width is a bit bothering. Hopefully the new Exmor R sensor is worth it (that is, if the manual does not contain a mistake and there is no new sensor 🙂 )

  2. Hot Shoe MIS for Sony HVL-F60 Flash overheating has still Not been repaired.

NO Other Sony Flash Options or Fixes, or Firmware updates in sight

No Even a SONY extended warranty for the Sony HVL-F60 Flash

    SONY – Support your Users

    1. You should just have an alert set up so that every time you see a new post in SAR, this message (or something similiar to it) gets mosted. After all, this is what, the 100th time (only a sight exaggeration) that you posted thi message. Yes, people want this fixed but do you really need to infuse every discussion with your retort?

        1. Just return it or sell it, and get a different flash.

This is not Sony support. This is SAR — what is the point complaining about a flash problem here? You’re only annoying innocent people.

  3. So the rumor is Sony is not and will not fix the flash problem? Thanks Al and Lotus for giving us the most useful rumor of the week!

  4. I hope some of these accessory rumors are true, because they would add value and function to the camera. But I don’t know… Is any of this mentioned in the leaked Japanese manual for the MKII? If not, then I suspect these items are fake.

    1. Also want to add that even if this rumor is fake, we still have these accessories by 3rd parties, i.e. Franiec grips, Magfilters etc. So the MKII will have all these things anyway, just maybe not officially from Sony.

Regarding the grip — I’m really surprised Sony didn’t even add a small textured bump to the right side of the MKII. The RX100 is so slippery. Strange that they left it that way on MKII as well. Hmmm.
