This lens is a great value at its normal price…for $200, it can’t be beat. I love using this on my A7 (though the focus and aperture rings turn the other direction from most A-mount lenses, which never fails to mess me up when I’m trying to focus quickly, :p )
The nikon version turns the way you want.
If you’re willing to play Rokinon Roulette. It seems like there are so many bad copies of these. I just got a 14mm f2.8 and Rokinon themselves said oh I just got a “bad copy”. These bad lenses probably never go away and just end up being sold and re-sold..
So based on this one anecdotal incident you jump to the conclusion that all Rokinon lenses are somehow suspect. Not a logical conclusion, in fact worthless dribble.
Damn, someone is grumpy. No this isn’t based off of one, if you read the forums or researched buying these lenses you’ll find this is a VERY common problem. Many people are choosing not to buy these just based off the fact that it’s too much of a hassle to buy and return, buy and return to find a copy that works.

I already have an 85mm prime.
For only $200, can somebody chip in here and tell me a reason to consider picking this up? Does the lens have a special look, or does it do something (even something small) better than other 85mm? At $500-$1000, I wouldn’t consider it, but for $200 I’m looking for any sort of fig leaf for my naked lens lust.
It’s a budget MF prime. If your 85 is as good or better than you don’t need it (unless you want the cine version for follow focus) or need a back-up.
