(Reposted) $8,000 off on the Hasselblad HV! It’s now cheaper than the equivalent Sony package!

Note: I posted this deal info on Sunday but I just noticed the links were not working. So this is a repost with the correct links.

The Hasselblad HV (with Zeiss zoom lens) got a $8,000 price drop on the Hasselblad HV at BHphoto (Click here). And this makes it actually good deal! You pay exactly the same price for the current Sony A99 with the Zeiss 24-70mm lens. But the Hasselblad kit also comes with that cool High Performance Hard Case with Foam Interior (picture on top) and a second battery. Now tell me the truth…you didn’t see that coming: Hasselblad being cheaper than the Sony equivalent!

  1. Don’t buy it even if it is cheaper than the equivalent Sony packaging, because I guarantee the corporate bean counters who came up with this awful product will not take that into consideration when looking at the fact that you bought it, and we’ll just end up with more of these abominations. Consumer response needs to be an unequivocal, no-matter-the-price, no.

  2. The only way this will ever work is if the camera they are moulding it on is a current model and not an old body. At least then people will have an up to date camera with luxury materials!

  3. The only good gear worth its price is that beautiful Zeiss 24-70 SSM f2.8 II T* coated mid-range zoom! Body is a history. A-mount is dead. A7RII is new body for all Amount lenses via LA-EA3 and upcoming LA-EA5 (for screw driven lenses). Period. All A-mount users convert or die liek Canikon dinosaurs.

  4. My prayers have been answered. I will cherish it, stick it under my pillow and keep it dust free for all the days of my life.

  5. Foam?? When the lens is stored in the sealed case outgassing from the foam will cause cloudiness on the inside glass elements. Similarly, it will coat the inside of the body’s translucent mirror. Think about it.

    1. A99 II should definitely come in September or somewhere there, it will be 3 years since A99 was announced.

      1. Still a great camera. I expect the A99 to drop to 1k or less when the A99II announced. An absolute steal for those interested in actually taking pics with it:) I hope to pick one up if the A99II is astronomically priced.

    1. Absolutely – A mount is not dead. How could it ever die? It’s technically superior like Betamax to VHS or token ring to ethernet or…. oh dear…. 😉

      1. Token Ring was never superior to Ethernet. It worked somewhat better in the eponymous topology it was designed for, but was not expandable to anything else.

    1. Let me see how many I can guess from the photo.

      Top row (L-r) 70-400mm, 70-200mm, 70-300mm ?, beercan, 135mm STF,

      Middle row(L-R) – Zeiss 24mm f2, Zeiss 24-70mm f2.8, No idea, Minolta 28-85mm, 85mm f2.8 SAM, Not sure.

      Last row (L-R), Two A99 bodies, 16mm f2.8, Minolta 50mm f1.4

Any mistakes ? And which were the two lenses I couldn’t guess ?

Excellent collection of glass BTW ! 🙂

      1. Thanks!

        Top row
        You’re right

        Middle row
        1635Z, 2470Z, minolta 35-105, minolta 28-85, 85F28, 50F1.4

        Last row
        A77II, A99, 16F2.8 Fisheye + minolta 28F2.8

        I have two more lenses:
        1650F2.8 DT
        18-250 DT

        I already have an A7II + 28-70 + LAEA4

  6. Sounds like a good deal but who would buy A99 at this point. If you are going to buy Sony camera in that price range now, you would go with A7 series.

  7. True. You can however get good camera foam – high quality stuff, I think inert gas is used to make it so any nastiness as it ages is minimal. Good cases should use it, so perhaps we can assume this would as well. Frankly many cameras have it inside them to do things like act as mirror dampening etc… some of my old film cameras had it around the rear door for light seals…. I’d still only keep kit in these cases for travel though, as there’s probably a greater risk of issues with moisture damage (fungus etc) unless you keep fresh desiccated gel in the case as well.
