  1. This really ticks me off. I paid full price from Cameta back on Jan. 20th and a mere 7 weeks later, the bottom is already dropping out of the price?!? Grrrrr …

    1. Be happy with the pictures you take. There is always going to be a better deal down the road, but the moments you lived through aren’t coming back.

How would you react if Sony release A7r II with 10 fps and superb tracking and AF in dim light by end of year…

      1. Ambivalent, unless it also has IBIS. My legacy lenses want IBIS. In all seriousness though, I would have jumped on the $1437.00.

    2. I don’t believe the bottom is dropping out, these Ebay sales usually have strings attached (no in country warranty, grey market, used etc) Your better off and safer buying through a reputable source. Enjoy your camera.

      1. lol “if it is too good to be true…” bla bla bla. Problem here is you people don’t even know what price is “too good to be true”. You think 1400 is a cheap price for that camera, well it is not bad I would of picked up both, but it is not that good. $4 would be too good to be true. BTW I have purchased from popflash many many times, they are legit.Their store is 30 min drive from my house. “Your better off and safer buying through a reputable source” yeah……World or should i say Sony needs people like you. the $2k msrp is the value of the camera in your head right now, you just need to think who placed it there, sony or you.

        1. I suggest you buy one putting your money on the line then let us know how you make out. In other words; put your money where your mouth is. Or perhaps you’re a shill sent here to promote a store you work at, don’t waste your breath.

          1. Did I not state that in my comment?! ” I have purchased many many times”. over $4k worth of Zeiss actually. But you can not possibly believe that right?

So…an ebay seller with 9000+ 100% feedback is no joke. hmmm..looks like 9000+ people put their money on the line. If this deal was not sold out in 1 min you bet I would of got it. If your looking to buy, you missed a good deal, deal with it. Don’t give me that “I got ripped off at a reputable source but I got warranty baby!” Oh, and do I fucking sound like i work at a camera store? lol

    3. As others have suggested, this is most likely someone taking advantage of the huge (but temporary) Employee Discount. Only a few units at these prices = just a few friends who will join the scheme.

    4. I paid 1500 for a a7 like new from a seller with receipt a month ago and just a few days ago I could have gotten one for 1200 because the seller was in my neighborhood. Since ebay and paypal take about 150 plus you have to ship and pay insurance. The seller would have ended up with about 1100 so my offer of 1200 was accepted by the seller but someone purchased the camera before I got back to the seller to confirm. I guess this is what I get because I normally wait for 6 months to a year before I get a new product. Soon the a7 will be a 1,000 camera.

    1. All Sony Employees get 50% off MSRP for A7 and A7r till the end of March. Limit 2 per employee, but you can get your colleagues to buy it for you as well. So it’s not too good to be true. This person probably knows someone at Sony and is gaming the system which I don’t appreciate since I do work there and don’t want to see Sony stopping these deals due to some greedy people.

      1. This is probably the case as a friend that works there got the 24-70 for 600..which makes it well worth it’s small flaws and quirks

          1. They way they are contracting their workforce not so sure that would be a good option lol

        1. Not sure if it was 2 of each or 1 each, the posting on our intranet just said limit 2 per employee. This is the biggest discount we’ve ever had though so i’m sure they are tracking it somehow.

      2. By “greedy” you mean people taking a legal opportunity to bag a bargain how shocking , where you greedy and took the opportunity to save a $1000 lol

        1. No by “greedy” I mean purchasing for the sole purpose of reselling it on ebay/craigslist/etc to make a profit. I’m pretty sure I read somewhere that the company policy says that you are not to resell any products purchased with the corporate discount and if you abuse the system you will lose your discount.

Not saying that this ebay person is actually doing that as he may have another source. But there’s no stopping me from ordering 2, and asking for the 50 people in my department to order 2 and resell them all, but if everyone does that then they will just stop giving us discounts.

As of right now, i added 43 A7r’s to my cart which was the cart limit on sonystyle and it is lettting me checkout for $49,449.78. And i can guarantee i can sell each and every one of those for at least $400 profit. Now is that greedy?

  2. it’s because 20 out of 30 or so Sony stores are closing. The employees are buying Sony a7 and a7r at 50% discount and reselling it for a profit to pad themselves for a few week while they go find a new JOB. Support them and buy it!

  3. Wow… and you thought Panasonic’s camera prices dropped fast. That’s almost $1k US drop since launch.

  4. The used market price of A7R is average 1635 USD in Hong Kong. If 1,437 is possible, the possibility is it is a refurbished item, or simply sold in cost (70% of retailing price). A7 body is about 1,200 USD in used market. A7R is damn poor because the shutter shake and high high density pixel effect that scare away the users who want something quick and snappy.

  5. Ducking Hell Sony!
It’s not even 6 months and my camera has lost 40% of its original value.

Who here is going to buy the next Sony Camera at launch day instead of waiting for 6 months???
