Its the 35mm 1.4 month!
For $2,200….its some 3 grand cheaper than the Summilux…could Zeiss’ version be a better lens? Could this be the real Loxia we (I mean I) were waiting for?
Zeiss 35mm almost 2300 dollars! I can’t believe it- that price is simply insane. It’s making this luxia (albeit slower) lenses look like a steal.
have you seen the price on the leica-M 35/1.4 – zeiss is actually a bargain! I’d love to know if this lens and the FE 35/1.4 recently announced are the same layout. Really looking forward to see if either can produce the famous 35/1.4 distagon rendering (from the SLR lenses)
I am buying one. I think it is worth every cent.

Just how much do you think the mosnter Sony/Zeiss ZA Distagon 35/1.4 is going to cost? 😉
half?
Dream on! 🙂
Half of it is Sigma ART 35/1.4.
Even the 24-70 f/4 lists for 1200 Euros!!

That sounds intriguing! 🙂 Why would anyone want a lens with color shift?
It’s nothing you can’t correct in LR or other softwares and it’s a great lens for B&W.
Have a look at what it gives with my sony A7 :

Maybe it is correcting the color shift of the old version somehow… probably too much to hope for. Waiting more for a Loxia 15mm or 18mm or 21mm… a proper prime built for the FE mount. Although, the 40mm Heliar is marketed as “Pancake lens for Sony E” and pictured with the close focus adapter. So maybe we get a surprise on this 15mm as well. Will be seeing it in Photokina on Saturday… and try to test it, if they let me. And if the lens does not smear, it is even usable with a lens profile (like the 12mm is in fact on my A7R, but hard to get the exposure right with such a heave vignetting)
I hope so!
It should have then read “Asphärisches Superweitwinkelobjektiv ohne Color Shift” 🙂
That is why the confusion.
wow for that price the zeiss had better be good! the almost perfect sigma 35 goes for $900.
different lenses for totally different systems. Rangefinder lenses will always be expensive due to their rangefinder focus coupling and calibrations. And its no Sigma plastic toy
Perhaps. An yet, for about the price of this lens, you can buy a FF camera and sigma lens and be good to go for a 35 1.4. Seems excessive.
Is everyone calm now?
OK. My hopes are bit higher now.

The circle of confusion at 0.33 is a bit generous thought since 24mp COC should be at most 0.030 as per DOFMaster recommendations (which I agree with) so imagine a COC of 0.020 or so for 36mp.
This mean the DOF of this lens is razor thin…pixel per pixel.
Yup! But there are no sample pics from Zeiss to demonstrate that. Though there is (atleast) one picture that shows the 10 bladed aperture diaphram at work.
I so sold on this lens. 🙂
The thing is, I almost completely expect the DOF to be razor thin.
The RX1, at f2 on the 24mp sensor, the DOF is really thin so at 1.4 you definitively get razor thin.
That being said what remains to be seen is how the bokeh looks like.
Also, I am hoping for a flat DOF without field curvature like the Summilux 1.4 shows. That alone can ruin this lens for me.
Voigtlander just announced a 10.5 .95 for M43rd’s. Dang, I think that’s more interesting than anything over here right now. Just saying, .95! That’s going to be a real killer.
Should be great on the new GM5. Enjoy! 🙂
Hurrah praise be to the lords.. finally a lens worthy of being in my grubby hands
The Voigtlander Nokton Classic SC 35mm f:1.4 is really a great lens in combination with the Sony A7 ! I got one on ebay and it’s one of my favorite lens on this system. Great for video too !!

“Aspherical super-wide lens with color shift”
http://voigtlaender.com/15-mm–f-4%2c5-super-wide-heliar-2014.html
Anyone know what this might mean? Would be amazing if this helped the color issue with these lenses on A7 cameras. A truly compact ultra wide? sign me up
I have the voigtlander 35mm f1.4 sc but the new zeiss does look interesting (much more so than the new sony/zeiss 35mmf1.4)
the new summarit lenses are not a huge improvement if you compare them with the old ones.
or do you see the big difference? i would really like to own the 90mm though.
These 35/1,4 ZM & 35/1,7 CV seem awesome. Although I prefer light-weight plastic to heavy brass, these ones are still smaller + lighter than those ZA stuffs.
I’ve hold my plan of CV40 and/or 35lux. When saw the crazy hugh 35/1,4 ZA I was close to despair and almost decide to save money for a 35lux. Now I have a one-stop-cheaper choice. 🙂
Just checked out the spec of new CV15. It’s much bigger than the current one. Maybe it’s the way they say “w/o shift”. I’ll keep my own one I guess.
And for that old-style CV35… I just hope the design of focus ring has been changed since the 50/1,5… I used to own one 50/1,5, I really like its optical parts but the focus ring is far too tight so I had to sell it. The ZM lenses are usually much like silk 🙂
