  1. I don’t understand how this helps grip… I get some extra space I can wrap a pinky around, and that’s about it?

Maybe it helps to make the camera taller?

  2. that looks like its designed by Hasselblad 😀 or someone just found it somewhere.. but its a great uglyfier for sure!

  3. I wonder just how many people willing to spend $2,800 for this camera and then put what looks to me like a 7th grade woodshop project on it?

  4. Ridiculous, Sony breaks through walls to make this camera as small as humanly possible, then people slap this thing on the bottom to increase the size.

  5. We can get crazy wood decorations.

    BUT

I can’t get any third party TTL – Flash or lighting to hook up to the

new hot shoe on the SONY nex6, RX1, A99, a58 or new nex7 models
because Sony will not work cooperatively with any third party
to open up the Pin outs of their highly proprietary shoe

Doesn’t SONY understand TTL lighting is critical in photography.

    Sony Wake Up –

Great, how about a decorative leatherette case a greeen.

  6. Pass on implementation, keep trying. I have one of the Jim Buchanan (I’m guessing no relation to JB Camera?) “PalmGrip” for my NEX-7 and I love it, but it’s cast/machined aluminum with a nice matte black finish. It makes it feel more like a street shooter camera than a compact camera, a nice place to grip with your pinkie finger. The PalmGrip is $100 though, so $80 for a wood one is not out of the question, just one that looks like it came out of a high school wood shop is not worth $80.

  7. I wouldn’t buy this grip design for any camera because I don’t see how it’s an improvement in ergonomics, function, or aesthetic. I suggest scrapping this idea and rethinking the design. Think, “high-quality, premium, revolutionary, sophisticated, etc…” Keep trying and good luck with your endeavor.

  8. I just picked up my RX1 today and they sent me one of these to try out as a test sample. While the appearance threw me a bit originally, it fits the camera well as well as the hand and gives a nice pinky hook/rest. Feels pretty darn good in hand in fact. I’ll use it for walk around, but I also have purchased the RRS bracket for travel and use with my tripod.

  9. Sorry, Jimmy, you won’t be getting that A+ in woodshop. It’s an F from me. Vulgar in all respects–especially in its disrespect of the wood it’s made of.

As for ROI–they won’t even get their 80 cents investment back.

  10. How can i say? Those Chinese made versions are much better than this.

You can find a very good hand-made version on taobao.com

  11. Where are the ad photos of a person actually using it (not sure how it would be useful) ? Is it intended as a vertical grip ? I see no point in this, and has the esthetics of a brick.
