I finally found at least one person using the new and expensive Hasselblad Lunar. But it is not a rich Sheikh or Russian petrol-company leader. It’s famous filmmaker David Lynch (wikipedia bio)! You can see him using the camera at Rob Sheridan’s blog. One more thing, the resulting video is horrible (from a creative point of view): you can watch it on youtube.
I guess he was the on buying all Hasselblads that were for sale on Amazon last week 🙂
Thanks Dario Cotti for spotting this!

Wow, that’s pretty embarrassing, being caught with a Hasselblad Lunar. He may not be an oil baron, but he is probably rich.
lel, wat a fgt.
The Lunar was 99.9% of the budget of that video. The rest of the video was made for the remaining 15 bucks.
But I’m glad to see Trent is back, with a respectable return to form.
+1 Nine Inch Nails come back is the only positive thing of this news!
wow, someone actually owns one :/ no thanks even if I had 350 million in the bank.
Maybe it’s a smart investment. If Hasselblad stops selling them altogether in a few weeks, they might become collector’s items! 😉
Good luck finding what to put it next to.
The camera is a scam – but I actually love the video, he made with it! 🙂 Complements and enhances the impact of the music just greatly.
A very pleasing discovery 🙂
He was obviously given one by hasselblad for publicity.
Exactly what I was just about to post.
In any case, the “singing head” part of the video (shown in the stills) is so post-produced that any camera could have been used – it’s not like the Lunar was used for this based on some misinformed superior quality reasons.
Yes, they have also been sponsoring him before.

Destroying your reputation for dummies:
Step 1.
“Publicly acknowledge you own a Hasselblad Lunar”…
He probably got one for free to sponsor them. I’d take a free NEX-7 any time, even if Hasselblad shat all over it.
He could have just used any smartphone instead
Yea because phones are exactly like a NEX-7.
The only good thing David Lynch has ever made is Twin Peaks S1.
Sting would disagree with you.
DISCUSTING
It only makes sense that the king of surreal cinema uses that surreal concept of a camera.
I thought the Lunar came with a proper eye cup (that would really benefit video shooters, but more than once a week I wish I had an eye cup for my still photo work).
At the bottom of the post, there is no mention of the Hasselsad.
I wonder why?
Maybe he realized that it is just a fancy NEX 7 and not an original Hasselblad as he may have been lead to believe.
WTF??? Why??? only if its free and does not overheat like the nex-7 and even then I would put it in another case so nobody would know….
Seriously, who cares what other peiple buy or are offered to use? If they don’t lose sleep over it -and I doubt they do- why should we? Live and let live.
On another note, some more Honami specs leaked with pictures and screen dumps. 20 MP stills sensor confirmed and… drum rolls… 4k video.

> the resulting video is horrible (from a creative point of view)
It shows that even a money-waster like Lunar can be a wasted further in the wrong hands… Most of it could have easily been shot with an old camera phone. I expected David Lynch to put together something more than the typical fan videos on YouTube. Time to wait for parodies.
I was hoping for something that showed off what the Lunar could do, maybe whatever tweaks Hasselblad added. Ah, well.
Wow, that was some ignorant post on SAR.
Calling a collaboration of two arguably most genious creative people living horrible from creative point is strange at least.
Wow Moris! I see you don’t like opinions 🙂
This is in my opinion a video that sucks. But this doens’t mean that David Lynch is not a great author! I studied cinema and saw all his movies. Some of them are amazing. But that video for me sucks. It doesn’t mean that other people will not like it. That’s the wonderful world of art. It’s fluid, non alligned and that’s how it should be.
He’ll take that as a compliment anyway.
> But that video for me sucks
That’s an opinion.
> the resulting video is horrible (from a creative point of view)
And this is a bold statement.
“for me” is a key.
At the beginning of the video there is a warning not to watch the video if you have epilepsy as it may cause seizures. What does that tell you about a video?
Andrea. Listen.
No matter I also didn’t like the video, I would suggest you to put your personal opinions in the comments not in the body of your posts. You do not want to lead your readers to your perspective. Let them understand your rumor posts their own way and then discuss it in comments personally.
Even the most creative artists have failures. I personally didn’t enjoy it either. Camera shake and strobe effect were over done.
Yah, trying too hard to be edgy but ending up only being annoying and trite.
He though he just got a very good Hasselblad Deal~!!! He might be thinking:” OMG, I just got myself a Hasselblad at only $7000.00! What a deal and as if it is a steal!!!”
Lynch + Hasselblad = Barf
Lynch’s work is odd.
Lynch could never dream up something as supremely succinct as “I want to f@&% you like an animal”.
Lynch’s career was over years ago.
After he uses it he can sighn the camera and sell it to collectors for a lot of mony.
It is after all one of the worlds rarest cameras.
David didn’t have to buy those camera’s. He was probably PAID to use them.
That video has David Lynch’s signature. Masterpiece for me. For sure he was paid to use that camera.
He’s not a filmmaker, he’s a brain changer
Rolling Shutter…
I see Canon at most of photos.
