This seems like a pretty cool addition to the lineup. At first, I was perplexed as to why something that incorporates an EV dial, pop-up flash with ability to bounce it, and excitingly, the ability to add Sony’s amazing EVF, wouldn’t also include the ability to capture RAW photos. But now I think, that this camera is nicely positioned to bridge the gap, if there ever was any, between Sony’s consumer point-and-shoots and their prosumer/pro RX line. Giving you a more involved experience with your photography, while still aimed at people more interested in scene modes and applying in-camera picture effects than a RAW shooter. I love to shoot RAW mostly because I don’t like the idea that the camera is making all the editing decisions for me. I like to be very precise with the overall look of my images, even if that means spending much more time post-processing a photo that I could similarly get with an in-camera photo effect.
I’m glad Sony will be able to satisfy essentially any type of consumer out there in the market with this addition, and the eventual FF NEX, but I worry Sony is also spreading their resources far too thin to really fill in all the holes us NEX and SLT users still face when it comes to lens options. I understand their interest in wanting to come out with video-specific lenses but let’s come out with some premium NEX zooms already! I’ve been so antsy for the premium standard zoom to come, I’ve actually been considering going with Fuji’s X-E1 and their amazingly fast lens options including their recently announced, moderately fast, telephoto zoom.

directsourceliquidations selling RX1 on ebay has an abysmal customer service record, I could only cringe in horror reading negative reviews at ebay about this merchant, nice price point but useless considering u are rolling dice and might end up in consumer hell if they send u used stuff when u buy new, among other nightmare scenarios, read it for yourself, GHASTLY reviews !!
