This deal sucks compared to the Australian deal a couple of weeks ago. A7S with 28-70 kit lens and metabones4 or laea4 adapter (adapter only for Australian customers) for only $1989 ($1613usd). Im going to sell the kit lens and the adapter in brand new condition for roughly $500-$600aud so I will have my a7s for $1400 😀

People did not know that $ sign was for australian dollar, so your $1400 cost is about 1100 US Dollars. I was thinking about buying A7s+kit zoom lens and one adapter=USD $1500 during Christmas from Australia. In the end I decided to wait for the next Gen Mark II A7s that can do 4K internally and with in body VR like a7 II.
Your right, I edited it so it should be clearer now. Pretty sure the adapter redemption from Australian sony stock is only available to Australian mail.
As with all sony gear in 6 months to a year there will be another body that sets the bar higher.

As with all sony e mount cameras the price will continue to go down. Its all a matter if you can wait or not.

6 more months and it will be at 1/2 price. I’ll be able to afford a spare A7S body.
I suggest people buy when they are financially able to, and start capturing art and enjoying a camera that fits their needs.
Technology depreciates as soon as it hits the market and rarely increases in value after release. If it doesn’t work out, sell it. Consider it as a long term rental.
HOWEVER…If they come out with some mega-super firmware upgrade where which makes the camera shoot 4k internally… I take back the whole depreciating part…But at least you’ll have yours.
My 2 cents. And it may seem contradictory, but there will probably be another price drop when the A9 is released.
The internal processor in this camera isn’t capable of encoding 4k in a sustainable way. If they activated it, it would produce too much heat/use too much power to make it viable. The A7Sii will no doubt have it, and likely be out before the year is over.
But you’re right, if it’s a good camera, it’s a good camera, and just buy it now based on its current virtues.
I totally agree. Super-mega feat of engineering. Im hoping the showgun drops a bit, it will still be beneficial when the a7sM2 is released. I dont think it will be this year… I feel the a7rII will be though.

I’ve still got my Nex 7 which is a great camera, but have been shooting more with my RX100 MK2. I agree, the a6000 is a great camera. Much of the APS-C vs FF depends on how you use it and what you like. I travel a lot and don’t want to lug around a lot of gear, so the Nex 7 with a 10-20 (15-30 in 35mm) and the RX100 covers 15-100mm with one small and one pocket camera. Biggest benefit is I don’t have to carry extra lenses or change lenses.

It is bigger in itself than a slow 21mm lens directly to e mount might be, but less expensive in combination with the 28mm f/2 presumably…anyone know what speed aperture it becomes with that on? I have fast 28mm and not so fast 21mm which are both fairly compact but adapted longer than that, and this is looking very similar indeed :I

On my new patented ‘tri pad’ for shutterspeed ISO and aperture control, there could be displayed the area which would give the stopping for a subjects movement in all possible combinations so you can FIX it to taste, and show a more general light and hand steadiness/focal length reading for similar purpose as well 🙂

Those modular slider options along bottom and side of screen could also be used to set the WB and to select the framing of aspect ratio crop for lens 🙂
I have an empty Budweiser bottle, i can turn it to any orientation: its sort of analog you might say in that way…I can photograph it with my Sony A7R but a lot of the trolls can’t do that test, therefore i have every right to be here on Sony Camera related site and can prove it, they or rather all but three truly verifiable people on this site may as well be trolls, and one of those three might be: might be trolling Sony!

You all dream of a medium format camera, maybe you will get one with a new Sony mount, 2800$ for the body and 6500$ for the cheapest lens. Will you then buy one? Some probably do, but then we are where we are now, there are 2 kind of people that will buy it and that are those who work and earn money by that, and the others are those that have money to throw away anyway. I have seen the shots of the new Sony 50mpix chips by Hassy, Phase one and Pentax, and I can only say that there is nothing exciting to report about it. If I take a 24 mpix apsc or FF shot and reduce it to a 4 mpix normal size photo, you will not see any difference. But, maybe you are a house wall sized publicity poster shooter, In that case, sorry, i made a mistake.

Watch out buying the 7s from ebay secondipity, you may end up with the a7r shown in the photo or an even lesser model. I purchased a refurbished rx10 for $650 a couple months ago and they sent me a qx10. They were good about the return, but their QC is questionable and it wasted me a lot of time.
That happened to me when i bought a “Like New” a7r from amazon. I recieved an a7 in an a7r box
I wouldn’t trust this seller. 61 Negative feedback in just the past month alone. They should be banned!
