The A99 is now shipping in Asia (example of an owner report at Mobile01). And Fengniao (translation here) also posted a full A99 review. But let’s see the next great test:
Frank Doorhof (Click here) posted a set of A99 model shot pictures. He still has some mixed feelings using the EVF (sometimes he likes it and sometimes not). And after long testing he writes: “It’s no secret by now that I love the A99. It’s a great camera, with a cool EVF which opens new options and fits user needs we never knew we needed. The image quality is awesome (also related to the used glass of course). Dynamic range is impressive. Noise levels are more than adequate. Colors are nice.”
Sound good!!! Thanks Frank for your interesting article!

Great ! I can´t wait to see my own A99
same am waiting to get my shipping notice. words hasnt changed that they are meant to start shipping here in AU tomorrow
Great review.
No tethering to Lightroom! Sony better sort this out real quick….
they have not sort it out for the a900 and a700 in 6 years…. i guess is not going to happens soon.
you either use indirect tethering via capture software and hot folder, or you will probably get a third party plug in soon from the same company which do it for the a990/700.
capture software and hot folder, as for the a900.
tethering for a700/900/a99

thanks to this review I’ll buy one A99.
in the 90´s I used a Minolta Dynax 9xi , great camera , also I buy some great lenses like the 2.8 200 APO , that’s why I choose an A850 when I make the digital step , now Its going to be great to have the A99 , I have a nice feeling about this tool …
hello everyone，I’m HOT,come form Taiwan,The article I wrote a99 PK NEX7,and hope you like it.
thanks guys 😀
Hi Frank! Thanks for your review! And espcially for your differentiated opinion about the EVF – I agree 100%
I have fallen in love to shoot outdoor with the EVF and place the lens-flares und ghostings precise like I want – WYSIWYG
thts exactly what i was thinking id be able to do with teh EVF and 1 thing that has me excited about it
Thanks for your very practical and useful review. It was nice hearing from someone who uses the MK3 and giving a pretty honest opinion on how the 99 actually functions. I find too many reviewers let their bias interfere with giving a true testament on a camera’s performance.
i have the upmost respect for frank he is a breath of fresh air in the industry and seems to honestly express how he feels about things with no bias. TO me hes someone who is just excited about photography and the people and overall technology in it
These reviews just confirm what I already know, the A99 is a great camera. Can’t wait for the U.S. shipments to start moving so I can shoot with mine.
I wish I had money for A99 and some CZ lenses 🙁
“No bra” day!
Nice volume!
Too bad there are no male models…
