  1. Would be much nicer if it connected the lens electrically, too. But that would of course require a modification of the transmitted focal length and F-stop values. On the other hand, that’s what off-the-shelf teleconverters do, too…

    1. Perhaps they are waiting till they release a version v2 of the speedbooster to provide an A-E adapter with af and exif transmission. 🙂 If this ever happens, I’ll be selling my full manual speedbooster in a heartbeat

      1. You will need to send email to them and suggest about it. I suggest this A to E adapter long time ago, and after that receive their reply they are going to release soon. So if we want A-E adapter v2 with AF etc, we need more ppl to push it so they will make it, cause this adapter market is sure smaller than canon and nikon version.

        1. Man, talk about post hoc ergo procter hoc in action. 😛 jk
Yeah, I’ll send them an email. Been thinking about it anyways…
          ;D

  2. Got it and like it for filming with manual focus. Working great with my fs700. But the bad is does not have any auto focus support. When need auto focus with a-mount need switch to sony adapter =/

      1. yeah no AF, depend on user need, i have both sony adapter and this speed booster. One for AF use, one for film use to gain extra light and depth of field.

    1. Every A mount lens I’ve ever owned has a small lever which the camera turns to change the aperture. The communication about which aperture is set is electronic (no electronics on this speedbooster). The connection is mechanical. The speedbooster has a ring which interfaces with this lever, allowing you to set the aperture manually.
I have a speedbooster A-E and haven’t encountered an A mount lens without an aperture lever yet.

      1. I wish they *had* included electronic contacts. I don’t really care much about AF (though if they came out with a good speed AF A-E speedbooster I’d buy it in a second).

I’d like to have the exif data in my photos. I like to see which lenses I use the most in lightroom 🙂
Aperture and focal length can also be useful as organizational tools. For instance, I usually use my 100mm macro for close up work (although it is great as a 200mm f4 with a teleconverter) so I could easily review all my macro work just by selecting photos taken at 100mm.

  3. Seems like any converter that says A to E is automatically $300-400. Shouldn’t Sony’s format to Sony’s format be one of the cheaper options? I know this is a speed booster but even simple non AF adapters.

    1. Simple adapters start from like $15. This is more or less the same price as the other ‘dumb’ speed boosters.

  4. How would the AF be like? is it like Canon EOS Speedbooster slow AF? I am not clear. I got LA-EA2 for my A6000 to use a couple of Minolta lenses I own but I would not mind to have my 85 Minolta 85 1.4G to be a real 85, not a 135.

    1. There is no AF. I couldn’t care less though. If you really need AF, unfortunately this isn’t the one for you…

  5. This post makes it look like the speedbooster *just* came in stock on B&H. I got it a while ago…

  6. I love my speedbooster. Especially for video. They need a Sony A mount to MFT adapter though.
