  1. That is quite dumb to say, having a phenomenal sensor but no concept.
SD1 needs better lenses, DP cams should be with interchangeable lenses, a 50 1.4 is missing.
What is wrong with Sigma Management ?
No eyes to see ? No brain to think ?

  2. Lol!
    Sigma is so funny!:-)
Everybody is going mirrorless and they are even talking FF mirrorless openly now, and Sigma says: No way are we going mirrorless.
    Hahahhaah!

  3. Well, the title is misleading. The quoted words do not appear anywhere in the interview. All Yamaki is saying is that for now Sigma has no plans for a mirrorless system camera, but he explicitly does not exclude it for the future. To quote the exact words:

“But that doesn’t mean that Sigma will never make compact system cameras in the future.”

Personally, I will be getting a DP2 Merrill soon since I am very happy with my current DP2s and could use the extra resolution.

This picture pretty much convinced me:

    cheers

  4. Finally someone sensible – there are too many mirrorless mounts. They should join some other mirrorless system someday.

    1. it’s mean no plan to camra(body),lens or csc(mirrorless sytem)???
lens for E(NEX)/M43 still on sell today.(i mean 30mm/19mm DN)!!!
yesterday they release mirrorless lens for NEX and M4/3.
      today they said no plan.

      Maybe i drunk so much(Beer). 🙂

if you explain ,thank a lot.

  5. From what I read it´s for the moment because they want to concentrate on the support of the existing systems.

The interesting part of this interview for me is that Sigma want to better the QC of lenses with the A1 system…

  6. Do we have here a company on its way to obsolescence? Not only that Sigma did not announce anything of significance at Photokina, they also stubbornly refuse to join the band waggon. That sounds suicide to me.

The SD1 was and still is an economic desaster, giving its still low value for money ratio, and the DP* products are a joke, not on par with state of the art technology.

    What a shame!
