True innovation! I am buying one!
Yes, this is a serious possibility. If it has nx mount, then it will drive more and more ppl to the already gorgeous nx system. In the meanwhile, nx300 has been updated to 1.2 fw, with multi-touch capabilities, minimun selectable shutter speed, even faster pdaf and more.
Samsung is really serious about nx system and even if there are many haters (who never tried the system and hate is just because it’s not a nikon, canon, sony, olympus or such) I think it will become the most widely spread mirrorless system in few years.
Now, it’s official that Samsung will show an Android Based mirrorless camera.
It was confirmed by Samsung Electronics CEO JK Shin.

Imagine making a phone call with the 85mm lens on: http://nxcsc.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/07064061.jpg π .
As it’s official that an Android based mirrorless will come, the next big question is how it will be…
– If they just release a touchscreen based camera with no physical controls why didn’t they implement Android to NX2000 which was just released? And it will cannibalising the NX2000.
– If they release a camera with Android, touchscreen and physical controlls why they brought NX300 with Tizen to the market?
My whishes are a rangefinder a like camera with built in EVF, swivel touchscreen, physical controlls, Android and maybe a butten to switch between Android and the standard NX menu.
What do you thing how it will be?
Thank you for the link back to the article. We look forward to the 20th. Samsung are certainly a company to watch closely in this space. The next step following their announcements this month will be a full frame NX model. An 85mm f/1.4 make more sense on full frame than crop sensors and we were not shot down for thinking and expressing the same.
Samsung 85mm f1,4 lens is designed for APS-C sensor cameras. And I also seriously doubt that NX-mount is FF-compatible anyway. It’s diameter is 4mm smaller compared to Sony E-mount. And E-mount is on the very limit that you can barely put FF-sensor there.
If they intend it to replace a phone, they’d have to shrink the camera massively. I don’t see how an average person is supposed to fit it into a jeans pocket otherwise, esp. with a lens. If it doesn’t replace a phone, there is no point in this.
I hope they’ll surprise us all with a FF NX instead π
Mirrorless ? Because all previous Galaxy cameras were mirrored ?
Mirrorless, because all samsung galaxy are plastics.
