Olympus E-P5 gets leaked!

Your really can0t have one day without rumors in these period! Yesterday we had the G6 announcement and today we have the next new MFT camera leak. The Olympus E-P5 image discloses a new more classic look and it comes with the 17mm f/1.8 as kit lens. The camera is going to be announced on May 9. This may be the last MFT camera before the summer Pause. We already heard the new OMD and Panasonic cameras will be announce din August/September…

P:S.: Sony is a a lot slower compare to the Panasonic/Olympus duo. It is very likely that the NEX-7 successor may be the only new NEX camera to come for the next 8-10 months.

    1. Maybe in your alternate reality – back here in the real world MFT is going form strength to strength, Besides its already immense range of lenses… Blackmagic releasing two native MFT cinema cams, one that is 4k capable. Schneider Kreuznach have two primes coming in the next six months and the latest body releases from Olympus and Panasonic have proven IQ that more than satisfies reviewers and critics.

But hey don’t let facts get in the way, believe what you like.

  1. 43rumors readers are going *insane* about it, approaching 200 comments right now. Some topics, in approximate order of passion:

The design (++, with some -).
The absence of built-in EVF (+ and –).
    The new knob (+).
Price too high (+ and -).
    Sensor being “old” (-).
    Likely boring flash (-).
    5-axis IBIS (hopes).

  2. Well we still haven’t seen the back yet. On the right could be room for a flash. Or for some the hope it has a smaller back screen and an EVF fit there.

What is nice is the look of two dials, similar to the OMD. In clearly in the front and the other possibly for the back.

I actually like this look and hope it has the 5axis IS built in.

  3. Add an optical viewfinder (top left at the back) with provision for 12mm, 17mm and 25mm lenses, which would make it a wonderful street camera.
Other lenses could be catered for with a tiltable electronic viewfinder in the hotshoe, which would then be useful for low angle shots.

  4. I stuck with the E-P3 while the adoring masses were crawling over themselves to get their hand on the E-M5. Why? Because that thing is horrible to hold. Never have I had a camera in my hands that I just always think am going to drop when I try to use it! The button layout and the tilty screen are just plain awful (great in theory, terrible in practice). The screen takes up too much rear real estate. Look at the back of an E-P3 or an X100 where there is a decent amount of room to the right of the screen to actually you know ‘hold’ the camera. On the E-M5 there is like what 1.5cm? Like 1/2″. And yet it is flat and slippery on the front! Ridiculous.

So here is to hoping there is no flippy screen, that the back of the E-P5 is more E-P3 than OM-D, then I can finally upgrade! Also, if you could make the VF-4 not smaller, but jut out from the back a little less and (this is the important bit) have an eye sensor on the EVF so it is a bit more ‘integrated’ that would be super swell thanks!
