We were a little bit confused because rumors about a 2/3 inch sensor X mount camera could be announced in July. But according to our sources the rumor has been mixed. Apparently there will be two new Fuji cameras:
1) There will be an entry level X-mount camera with APS-C sensor
2) There will be a new XS2 fixed lens camera with 2/3 inch sensor.
Now, that makes much more sense!!!

XS2 probably don´t have any interest to me: too much zoom and too much bulk. I´d like some camera maker could do a super wide zoom camera: let´s say: 18-92 equivalent. Also, it seems nobody want to produce a 14-42 type zoom -the kit lens of 4/3-,adapted to APSC. In APSC it would be a fantastic 21-63 equivalent!
If you look at Fuji’s roadmap, they have a 10-24 mm zoom there and this will be equivalent to 15-36 mm in 35mm format.
Interesting, but nothing to do with a 14-42 (21-63) for APSC. Not very difficult to make IMHO. I guess camera makers just don´t want to launch wide angle to short tele zoom lenses, because in this way they can sell to you two lenses instead.
Digital Camera Info specifies that the camera equipped with a 2/3? sensor which is to be announced this summer is a mirrorless camera with interchangeable lenses, not a fixed lens camera such as the X-S1 and its rumoured successor the X-S2, and that it would come in between Pentax Q/Q10 (1/2.3? sensor) and Nikon 1 (1? sensor).
We could therefore be speaking about three cameras to be announced in the next months:
1. The entry level, APS-C sensor, X-mount Fujifilm “X-M1?
2. A brand new system camera with interchangeable lenses, a 2/3? sensor and probably a new mount
3. The successor to X-S1, the X-S2 (bridge camera with superzoom).
WOAH. Excited about that entry level Fuji. No VF? Still, excited to see how it turns out. Cameras are too damn expensive these days.
