Sensor size comparison via cameraimagesensor.
I don’t know how much sense it makes but according to Digicaminfo the entry level X system camera has a 2/3 inch sensor. UPDATE: We dont know yet if it uses an X-mount or a new mount.
Don’t know how much sense it makes to use a tiny sensor fitted within a much larger X-mount. A 2/3 inch sensor should be used to make a very small sized camera and therefore a new smaller mount should be designed for this. of course Digicaminfo rumor is just that…a rumor and it may be wrong.
Our own sources confirmed that an entry level X camera is due for this summer. And an anonymous sources sent me and Photorumors the same info about the price. The camera should costs $550.
I still hope the entry level X camera features a “classic” ASP-C sensor. And it doesn’t matter if it doesn’t have a built-in EVF as long as I can buy an option external EVF!

This makes no sense whatsoever. I’ll have to eat my socks if they do it.
The Fuji guys are not retarded. So something got lost in the translation.
Either it is an entry level X camera with a 2/3″ sensor (meaning it’s a little brother of the X20, an X camera, but not an X-mount system camera), or it is an entry level X-mount system camera with an APS-C sensor (in this case the one already used in the X100s). Those are the two options.
let’s suppose it’s true, I wonder what Fuji would be trying to do here, unless it has something completely new and special, I fail to see the reason for this camera existence.
Nikon introduced the CX sensor with a new line of “miniature” lenses (so a completely different system) and Fujifilm, after shaking the market with the X100 style, the X-trans sensor, the X-Pro1 and a developing line of XF lenses is rumored to try its fate in this competitive market with a body that receives the XF lenses covering APS-C but offering a tinny 2/3″ sensor…smaller than Nikon’s CX but with its “big brothers” lenses!!!
Cleverly suicidal move, don’t you agree?
I think a 2/3 inch sensor would be great, it is a great size for C mount lenses, Q sensor is a bit small, but lots of good high res 2/3 lenses.
Digital Camera Info specifies that a mirrorless camera with interchangeable lenses, equipped with a 2/3? sensor, is to be announced this summer and that it would come in between Pentax Q/Q10 (1/2.3? sensor) and Nikon 1 (1? sensor) but they do not say it will have an X mount.
In their two separate posts, they are speaking about two cameras to be announced this summer:
1. The entry level, APS-C sensor, X-mount Fujifilm “X-M1? priced around ¥70,000 / $700 / €550
2. A brand new system camera with interchangeable lenses, a 2/3? sensor and probably a new mount.
