X-shooter Roger (US) wrote me an email with the following information: “The dealer in Japan that I purchased 56mm lens from just informed me that the 10-24mm lens arrived today and I purchased for $ 1010. Should have it next Monday or Tuesday.” [shoplink 22646 ebay]Here is the Japanese eBay reseller[/shoplink] who has the 10-24 in stock. Roger said that “The dealer in Tokyo that I referenced earlier has now posted this lens on Ebay at $ 1090. The posting does not say how many are available. I have purchased the 56mm lens in the past and it was shipped same day and packed extremely well. EMS Express shipping was 4 days to West Coast. The 10-24mm was ordered and shipped today. This is a reliable dealer and prices lower that other Ebay sellers in Japan.”

First Impressions

– Camera Preview: Fujifilm X-T1 with XF 10-24mm F/4 R OIS at bigheadtaco here: “This camera is everything that all the hype built it up to be. This camera is a game changer (I hate to use this term since everyone is using it); and I think that companies that haven’t invested into the larger sensor (APS-C and full-frame) mirrorless camera market (Canon, Nikon, Pentax) better beware. Although I highly respect the micro 4/3 system (amazing variety of bodies and lenses), I think many are now thinking about upgrading (sensor-wise) to the Fujifilm X series with their eyes on the X-T1. […] Overall, a great lens [10-24] and a great addition to the already complete line up of lenses in the X-series. The size and weight is equal to the complexity of the design and performance of this lens. It’s very addictive being able to shoot so wide, and I found myself just walking around and taking in the world at 10mm!! Ideally, I did find that I preferred shooting no wider than 14mm when shooting street.”

–  My first pictures with the new Fujifilm XF 10-24 F4 R OIS  at mworsdorfer here: ” Before I share the following images with you I have to say a few words about the new XF10-24. If you think this lens is small and compact, you’ll be disappointed. It is pretty much exactly the same size as for instance [shoplink 22639]Nikon’s 10-24[/shoplink] or [shoplink 22640]12-24[/shoplink] equivalent. However, there is absolutely no way that you can compare these lenses. ”

  1. Hmm not sure if I should sell my 23mm for this lens. I shoot a lot of documentary work so a zoom would come in handy.. But then again 1.4 is nice when the light is low. Tough choice.

Also looking from the sample images, this lens looks tack sharp with minimal distortion.

    1. 23/1.4 vs 23/4? Not even close. Don’t sell the 23 for this. The lens this might compete with is the 14mm. With the sweet spot on this lens at 14mm, and only one stop slower but with VR, it really only comes down to size in that comparison. But against the 23 f/1.4, it’s larger, heavier, and 3 stops slower which the VR would barely cover and you would never get that (somewhat) shallow DoF with it.

      Personally, I’ll own both.

  2. Finally… This has been rumored, announced, tested for way too long.

It was last summer sometimes, when, based on the information I had, I was pretty sure I’d have it for the Holidays, 2013. It looks like they were barely able to announce it late December.

Fuji is not going to sell too many of this, being not that common of a range, so they gave it low priority. too bad…

    1. Not that common of a range? You are apparently unaware of the *entire* rest of the camera market. Every other system carries one or more lenses of this range or something very similar (16-35 on full frame, all three full frame DSLR makers sells a lens like this plus usually a few variations). This particular lens class is always one of the biggest sellers for any established system.

Fuji will have no problem selling this lens.

      1. I know they all do have this range. I own several. This will be my number one lens for Fuji.

But I am puzzled at Fujifilm’s decision to delay this so much… So far they have TWO normal zoom and TWO telephoto zoom lenses, before finally coming out with the wide angle, half a year later? This should have been a priority, next thing after the 18-55 and the 55-200 were out.

    2. Having used the Nikon 16-35mm f/4 with a D600 this lens was very appealing to me. As a bonus the reviews suggest that it is sharper in the corners and less CA than the Nikon – I’m hoping so. I pre-ordered one with the X-T1 and am really looking forward to it.

  3. I wish the Fuji prime was a 12, but I’ll keep the 14 over this for size alone. I say that now . . . we’ll see haha
