The firmware is here. Just download it at Fuji’s global site here. The firmware update Ver. 1.10 from Ver. 1.01 incorporates the following issues

  • 1.Addition of “Suppressed Flash” option when selecting flash mode
Once the firmware is updated, a “Suppressed flash” mode (where the flash does not fire even the subject is poorly lit) can be selected from the flash mode.
  • 2. The phenomenon is fixed that in rare cases, image display in “Browse Camera” function could become slowly when connecting to a smartphone.
  • 3.The phenomenon is fixed that in rare cases, gray stripes could appear in highlight portion of images with a standard viewer of a smartphone (only Android).

  1. I downloaded this update despite having no need of the Suppressed flash feature, nor am I affected by the issues it fixes. However (and I’m willing to accept that it may be a placebo effect) it seems to me that the camera autofocuses without problem far more often than in the past; things that it really struggled with no give it no trouble (it can even hit the mark on an all-black ballistic nylon camera bag). Perhaps Fujifilm fixed the autofocus but decided it best not admit to it being faulty in the first place? Either way I’m well-pleased as it’s now as good as my X-E1 in that respect. I’m now eagerly awaiting the next update, containing the 2 things on my XQ1 wish-list; a focus-distance scale for Manual focus and the same change as came on the X-E1 where you return to the “right” place in the image sequence when doing in-camera RAW conversions.
