Fuji Guys X-T1 top features video + more 56/1.2 crossed the US-border (and in stock via third party)

The second bunch of XF 56mm left Japan and arrived in the States right now. AmazonUS is sending notifications to those customers who purchased the 56mm. So also to Nathan, who pre-ordered it on January 30th. He will get his new lens soon.

At the moment there is one in stock via third party reseller at AmazonUS (Murphy’s Camera), but you have to pay $20 extra for it.

  1. Whoa. Whoa Whoa…. I ordered on January 6th and get a date of Mar 17. He orders on January 30th and gets it on Mar 14? I see a problem there 🙁

      1. I paid for 1-day shipping (Amazon Prime) as well. It makes zeros sense that I order 24 days earlier and this one ships before mine. They obviously need to fix how they handle preorders

    1. I ordered well before this as well and Amazon gave me an arrival date of April 8th. Amazon is not really the best source to do pre-orders if getting your item as early as humanly possible is your goal.

I ended up buying it through a third party seller on Amazon and will get it tomorrow.

  2. Anyone in the know –
Will we get the dual-view feature and the wifi improvements through a firmware upgrade on the X-E2?

    1. Probably difficult for the split view, as it has to do with the size and resolution of the EVF, and those are physical parameters…

      1. The resolution is identical. But, I also believe the smaller visual magnification will keep Fuji from offering the dual view on the X-E2. It would be so small as to be useless. It’s already about as small as I could expect to find it useful personally.

I went from X-E2 to X-T1. I think it’s totally worth the upgrade. I was able to get most of my money back reselling the X-E2 so I feel pretty good about the move even if I didn’t have the X-E2 very long. The X-T1, to me, is just an order of magnitude better camera. I haven’t been as happy with any other non-DSLR camera body and I’ve owned so, so many.

        1. The split view is also available on the LCD, where the size argument doesn’t hold up.
Viewfinder size is different but give me a break – not that different to completely render this feature useless (and since the cameras share internals hopefully it is not much of an effort to enable it on the X-E2).
Order of magnitude better camera? All I can say after playing with one and comparing to my X-E2 is meh. I like the extra dials for sure, but it has same processor, same resolution, same image quality, same photography features. If I would choose today between X-E2 and X-T1 then I would possibly weigh the $200 difference. IMO it is definitely not an order of magnitude better. It’s better packaging of the X-E2 for sure.

What I was looking for in my question is for someone in the know (Patrick?) to hint whether this was an option or whether there was hardware that prevents those things from happening, which currently doesn’t seem like there is.

          1. Right, you touched one for 5 minutes and now you’re totally informed. What was I thinking, after owning both of these cameras and using them for large blocks of time. How could I possibly have any better impression of the comparison than you?

Clearly, that was a ridiculous thought on my part.

          2. Good for you, going from the camera to sarcastic personal insults. Hope it makes you happy and successful.

  3. Just got the shipping notice on mine. I ordered just a couple days ago (technically yesterday) from a Prime eligible “Fulfilled by Amazon” 3rd party. It should be here tomorrow. 🙂

  4. The X-T1 get’s slaughtered in this review comparing it to the E-M1.. they really hate the autofocus on it (and many other things), which was really surprising after reading so many reviews being extremely positive about it.. Are they testing it wrong?? I don’t know. They are both professional photographers so I guess they know what they’re doing.

    1. I wish they would follow the styling of the x pro 1 more, this x-t1 looks like it was designed in north korea.

    2. It seemed like a hired smear-Fuji campaign from the start. A bit over the top to me. And what photographer worth their salt wants to hold the camera out in front of them and tap the rear screen to focus and take the image. Silly.

      1. Yep, the whole attaching the camera strap set a tone of stupidity an bias for the rest of the video. At some points he just looked mentally challenged just trying to focus… really wierd review.
