Adorama is ALREADY taking pre-orders on the XF 50-140 f/2.8 WR for $1,599. ALL THE SPECS & pre-order here

_ _ _

Maybe their was a grain of truth in rumors shared back in June, when some sources told me about an X-T1 upgrade/limited edition.

In fact, according to the anonymous source with nick-name (thanks a lot) who’s sharing a lot of stuff, there will be a new “Graphite Silver Edition” X-T1 and it will cost $200 more than the [shoplink 21553]“classic” Fujifilm X-T1[/shoplink].

It should feature the (already rumored) 1/32,000 electronic shutter speed and the Classic Chrome film simulation.

The silver version will also come with deluxe accessories like a leather shoulder strap and aluminum hot shoe cover.

These are hot days. There is a long list of rumors shared in the last week. And there is more to come. So follow Fujirumors also via facebook, google+, RSS-feed and twitter

  1. Skip the 70-200/f4 $1600 equivalent and wait for 90/2 (me) . I am not offended by the price, Nikon 70-200/4 costs not much less. And Sony 70-200/4 for fe mount costs the same and fuji is technically 2.8 (but in my mind is f4 because of crop factor). I only care about dof equivalency.

To me fuji is about beautiful and light primes so I’ll wait for the 90/2 which will be perfect for headshots.

Now fuji please get electronic shutter on my xt1. 1/4000 limit seriously is a problem for me often when shooting on vacation in mid-day sun. I don’t want to keep stopping down that glorious 56/1.2

    1. f/4 because of crop factor: as far as DOF is concerned you may be right, but as far as light gathering capabilities you’re wrong.

  2. It will be interesting which kind of electronic shutter will be built into the new XT1 limited edition. http://www.steves-digicams.com/knowledge-center/why-digital-cameras-have-mechanical-shutters.html and http://www.cambridgeincolour.com/forums/thread31131.htm…if global elctronical shutter (interline transfer) or a rolling electronic shutter….the first reduces the light gathering capabilities, higer noise, less good high iso files….the latter is not so fast in speed with regardt to retrieve the pixel data…..or if they take sth. equivlaent to the gh3 which ” suffers from heavy rolling shutter artefacts, making it virtually unusable with moving subjects, or with a long lens. It also does not work with a flash, and cannot be used with high ISO or a very slow shutter speed…..”http://m43photo.blogspot.de/2012/12/gh3-electronic-shutter.html

    Excited hopefully it works well….

    1. I guess you have to pay for this as an upgrade via FW and send the cam in if it is possible with the old xt1 hardware of the black versions….just guessing…hopefully the hardware of the black versions are suffieicent enough….

  3. An X-T1 dressed in silver would look spectacular! If that comes together with some hardware upgrades, it may appeal to those who did not switch so far and that were probably waiting for more exciting announcement from Fuji for the upcoming Photokina!
I was myself hoping for news about a fairly imminent release of the X-Pro2 but, unless of unexpected big surprises, it seems like we will have the time to indulge ourselves in some smaller interim upgrades (at least for those who wish to do so!).

  4. Been waiting for a silver X-T1, but not sure if it justifies another $200.

If the electronic shutter upgrade is true, I hope there is a way to select either electronic or mechanical shutter.

    1. You should be a little more flexible and maybe Fujifilm can get it in purple…just for you… 🙂

Silver seems to become fashionable again and I like my X100 built that way. Maybe this one looks nicer than the “images” suggest.

  5. Interesting. In silver the X-T1 looks well along the road to capturing some of the fundamental ugliness of a silver Nikon Df.

    1. The source said the silver X-T1 will come with 1/32,000 shutter and classic chrome film simulation… no mention about other improvements over the black X-T1.

I’m working on the black X-T1 firmware right now, and think to be able to post an update soon.

    2. I wonder if that is something that can be done with firmware. If the 1/32,000 thing is true, I would sell my X-T1 and buy the upgrade.

      1. For my use 1/4000 is good enough. Too quick to change IMO.
Hoping some sale on lenses later this year. Thinking about 18-135.

  6. What color ? Silver is for the rangefinder styled camera’s. Just pair a silver X-T1 with a black telelens, then you will know why ! Yes Oly E-M1, the same applies for you. Just my thought.
