X100T: USB-charging system, 7 FN buttons, bigger LCD than the X100S and more!

 photo asd_zps5c347d70.jpg

REMINDER: Adorama is ALREADY taking pre-orders on the XF 50-140 f/2.8 WR for $1,599.
ALL THE SPECS & pre-order here

_ _ _

Much has been already rumored, but not all. And thanks (!!!) to the anonymous source with nick-name, I can now post a X100T specs update:

The big news seems to be the HVF, which is confirmed to have a real time parallax correction in the OVF. The screen will be a non tilting 1.04 dot 3-inch LCD screen, which will make it bigger than on the X100S. The lens will remain the same. The focus speed is of 0.08 seconds. As previously rumored, there will be an electronic shutter speed of 1/32,000. The X100T will also feature 7 function buttons. Also expected, the Classic Chrome film simulation.

So here is the updated specs list:

Rumored X100T specs

(TS= trusted source / NeS =New Source / AS = Anonymous Source / SRP = source who was right in the past, but not yet trusted / ORS = other rumor sites / ASwN = anonymous source with nick-name)

– Announcement September 10 (TS)
– 16MP X-Trans sensor (TS)
– Name: Fujifilm X100T (TS + NeS + leaked by X-photographer David Hobby)
– APS-C (ORS)
– NO Tilt Screen (SRP)
– 1.04 dot 3-inch LCD screen (ASwN)
– 23mm lens, 8 glass elements in 6 groups HTC-EBC coating (SRP)

  1. if they releaed a 50mm version then i would bite. i love my original X100, but have found that 35mm is just to wide for how i shoot with it and dont want to add a bulky TC. and for the price i could get a FF Sony A7 with lens…

        1. That is true only if you like to pay full msrp, in state taxes and buying gear on day one. Got my combo for 1350 shipped. Used. Point is the fuji prices are too close to ff competition.

  2. “The lens will remain the same.” What das this mean now? Last time it was said there will be a new desigend 23mm lens! If they stick with the old lens, it will fail. The old 23mm is too weak in the corners and at close distances.

    1. Yes, also the reason why I parted with my X100s, wide open and up close the images are not good enough, as simple as that, too soft, very weird that Fuji makes no efforts to address that…

  3. Does anyone, thinking back to the X100s release, remember if there was a price drop on the original X100 through retail outlets? I’m super excited for the X100T, but if this means that a new X100s will be $1099 … I’d be pretty stoked for that, too.

  4. Does the in-camera USB charging mean Fujifilm is going to cheap out of including a battery charger like with the X30?

      1. As the availability of an external charger may not be immediate it will be bad news for people that need/want to buy a spare battery.

          1. You’re right, providing the new model will use the same NP95 battery or another one with contacts that match that charger. If so I wouldn’t have any problem as I could use the one that came within the X100 box.

    1. (as well as T could stand for a small step forward seen as the first letter of the alphabet after S, next year could come some X100u)

  5. USB charging needs a much more sophisticated battery state detection (compared to X100s where 4.2V to 3.55V is full, 3.55V to 3.51V is one less signaled, 3.49V means no more turning on.), so it translates to a more detailed battery signalisation.

  6. i’m most intrigued by learning more about the HVF… really curious about the “real time parallax correction in OVF”… this next bit I’m about to write may not be implemented in this new X-100T, and it may sound a bit overly high tech, but I hope they find a way to incorporate manual focus using the OVF much like a real rangefinder.. I’m imagining (& hoping) that if they can have “real time parallax correction in OVF”, they can find a way to add a focusing patch overlay in the OVF and have it move/adjust just like a real rangefinder.. wishful thinking, but let’s see what actually is true in the coming weeks up to Photokina!

… and the larger EVF (and hopefully improved refresh rate, also) sound like it will make the X-100T and even better joy to use!

    1. What else can the “real time parallax correction in OVF” be?

A focusing patch + a proper manual (not fly by wire) focus ring will make it impossible to resist.

      1. I would love to see that as well. That would a real innovation, and Fuji would have a chance a being a full-fledged Leica replacement. Unfortunately, Fuji has no experience (in recent history) of integrating “proper manual” focus.

What I think it will be, is much more simple idea: The frame lines will move based on the preset focus distance, versus a half-press of the shutter. That’s it.

I would like to be surprised.

  7. Has the trusted source confirmed the sensor size and lens details? It still could be full frame and a 35mm lens. Imagine the full frame sensor from the Nikon DF in a x100 style body. I would buy that. It wouldn’t even need to be xtrans just omit an aa filter. Otherwise the rumoured specs look great.

      1. The rumoured x100t as outlined above sounds great. However, I would love it if Fuji would offer a fulframe or even medium format fixed lens camera. I have an couple of medium format Fuji film cameras and I really love them. I suspect the computing power for a fulframe xtrans sensor would be considerable and this may be one reason we are not seeing a fulframe Fuji camera. However, Nikon and others are showing that you don’t need to resort to an xtrans technology to do away with an aa filter. I love the look of the nikon df but I have found its ergonomics to be flawed compared to the xt1. I would very interested in combination of a Fuji body and colours etc with the 16mp full frame sensor used in the nikon Df – better low light etc but Fuji ergonomics etc. It is likely just a dream but this is a product I covert.

        1. Maybe Fuji will do a larger format once the organic sensor is ready. The computing power for demosaicing scales pretty much linear with the pixel count, not the sensor size.

          1. If you are right and the computing power for xtrans purely relates to megapixels and not overall sensor size (it makes intuitive sense) then sticking to 12 or 16 megapixel fulframe will not be such a big leap form them if they still wish to use xtrans technology.. The other sensor (Sony derived) that might be useful to Fuji is the 12mp sensor used in the A7s. Fuji could work their magic on that. Full frame makes less sense for compact interchangeable lens cameras due to larger lens size needed but the Sony rx1 is very compact showing us what Fuji could do in the fixed lens space. The x100 series (even if it is apsc) is a better camera (for me) then sony’s rx1. What I would like is a combination of the best of Sony used by Fuji with all of Fuji strengths.

    1. Put the voigtlander 40mm f/2 on a Nikon DF. I have this combo and the images are amazing. Heavy as a brick but pretty compact. Weight and size comparable to my M6. Im routing for Fuji but that DF and voigtlander combo is just wonderful. Obviously more than $1300 no wifi no tilt screen no whatever but remarkable images. That’s the point, right?

  8. I know this is going to sound weird. But having the SAME body as the X100 is actually a feature. I have a customized aluminium grip made for my X100 (kind of looks like a Leica grip, wrapped the handle in camera leather) and I hope to use this grip on the X100T.

Also the same lens means that I can use my WCL as well. So yeah, having the same design is actually a FEATURE.

    1. Similar or the same, proportions is one thing, but any new iteration should have refinements in design. I can think of ten things on the Fuji X100 body that could, and should, be improved.

  9. Was hoping the T was for the tilting screen, and maybe a little less wide..say a version of their 27mm at F2.0. But a x100s at a lower price will be good too.

  10. Bigger screen means “wait till Luigi makes yet another case, then spend $450 on a piece of leather craftsmanship that’s almost identical to what you already own”.

I’d rather have better pixels than more pixels on a camera sensor. Same with the screen: leave it at the same size, but make it better.

…and where the heck is Wi-Fi?

    1. Will an electronic shutter substitute the leaf’s one or will it be something added to overcome the 1/4000 limitation?

  11. It looks like it will have the same AF as the X-T1, and the same screen minus the tilt.

So the only thing that remotely interests me is; the updated firmware, which may finally include auto iso in manual and exposure comp in manual, and the possible implementation of something original for the “Real-Time Parallax”.

For now I will assume the Real-Time Parallax will simply be that the frame lines will be moved the appropriate distance for the given focus distance, versus a half-press like it is now. I hope to surprised…
