I actually placed an order today, however I’m still waiting for a confirmation. Is this price drop only for the US or is this worldwide? 🙂
US for sure… I don’t have informations right now if there will be price drops in other countries.
Get real. No evidence at all of US/Canadian reductions aside from those already offered. In Toronto: X-Pro1 body C$1199; X-E1 kit(18-55) C$1150 for the last few days. Doubt we’ll see substantially lower prices any time soon.
Cance the order now before it ships and reorder tomorrow 😉
Cancel!
Already ahead of you 😉
Most reputable sellers have price guarantees. No need to cancel. Just get them to adjust your price.
Amazing how they are having to lower the prices on these two models, they can’t seem to give them away…. I think folks are waiting for their replacement with even better specs than the new X100s 🙂 Dual processor perhaps, like the Canon 7D? 🙂 🙂 🙂

No. Not. These are still popular cameras….a comment like that is more opinion than fact. They MAY indeed be due for an upgrade but that doesn’t mean they have to give them away, as if they are garbage. And c’mon…. What relevance does a canon dslr have to either of these models.
Market share of any (of just 2) Fuji X camera among mirrorless last year is below 1.5%, it is not an opinion, it is a fact.
The issue isn’t percentage of overall sales compared to other cameras. Leica, Hasselblad combined account for even less sales than Fuji — doesn’t mean they’re “giving them away” if there’s a sale on a certain model. Doesn’t mean they’re junk cameras.
There’s a fact for ya.
By the way, aside from AF speed, the X-Pro 1 blows the Canon 7D away. And, while the improvements that may be introduced in the X-Pro 2 should be great, the X-Pro 1 is a fantastic camera. And, in my opinion, whoever can’t take good shots with it, should take lessons or quit photography, because the problem is the user not the camera! I got it a few weeks ago, and I am blown away at how great it is. I have used it in all sorts of lighting conditions, and I have taken several panning and night shots, and I haven’t had any problems with it. The problem is that many people -just like in golf and skateboarding – tend to blame their gear for their mistakes and failures, when they should look no further than themselves.
Saying the Xpro1 “blows away” the 7D depends entirely upon what you’re shooting. You clearly have no idea what you’re talking about.
The AF on the 7D is one of the main reasons to get it over the xpro 1. I mean the iq between the 2 isnt really that big, if at all since canon has some nice lenses.
I am a Canon user, so I do know what I am talking about. For sports and wildlife photography, the 7D is the better choice, due to AF speed. However, the image quality from the X-Pro 1 is far better than that from the 7D (tones, dynamic range, ISO performance, colour accuracy, and sharpness). Sadly, the image quality from the 7d, despite having better features and AF performance, is no better than that fro a Rebel Series camera, which is not great at all. Yes, you can take nice pictures with both and I have some of Canon’s best glass, I would choose the X-Pro 1 over the 7d any day. That is just my opinion, and your opinion may be different, which I respect. Have a great day.
Im a canon user as well. The difference between the sensors is really not huge…How much DR range do you need? how much do you push and pull? how much processing do you really put your pics through?
I love my xe-1, its a great light weight camera. But if i know that i need to get shots i shoot with my DSLR’s (7d and 5dmk3).
I forsee soon enough, i will be able to sell of them, but not quite yet.
Its all in the fun of it.
Any of today’s cameras, mirrorless or DSLR, are capable platforms for excellent photography – provided it’s no shit behind the steering wheel.
Another thing is timing when you jump to a new system. The first generations are concept cameras, each iteration means improvements. My experience is that being a bit patient pays off in the long run. Then it can be you MUST have a new camera for some reason. I am convinced the upcoming iterations of Pro and E will mean improvements also over X100s. Already having two excellent cameras – i can wait.
Any idea how big the rebates will be if we buy a lens with the camera? And would that apply if we bought the X-E1 with kit lens + another lens?
The lower cost is for the stores move them out, The more out their better sales will be later for Glass and new cameras. They may never have the sales of Canon or Nikon but need to get a better footing size wise high price cameras with the loss for everyone of PnS’s
Come on Fujifilm – give us the X-Pro 2 specs so I can cancel my order for the ethereal Leica M! 😉
Just get the X-Pro 1…it blows the Leica away – it is far more versatile and the image quality and colour accuracy is superb. The only thing that is arguably better about the Leica is 1 stop greater depth of field control, due to the larger sensor. I wouldn’t waste my money, unless I truly wanted the rangefinder experience…
Fuji X-pro does not have full frame sensor, does not have M mount, so X-Pro 1 or Pro2 would not be a real Leica challenger. Those who want a Leica will buy a Leica.
I too would like to buy a full frame camera for my collection of Leica M leica L39 screw mount and vintage Contax Zeiss RF lenses.
I hope this signals an X-Pro 2 with some of improved features of later models like hybrid AF and maybe a few other goodies.
Not sure why some here want to read so much into this. The announcement here doesn’t specify how long this is for — might be a 1-day sale on two models when purchased with a lens. Might be a week…so what? Every other manufacturer of tech products does this from time to time in one form or another…it doesn’t mean it’s the End Of The Road for these cameras. Good grief.
Even without a special sale I was able to purchase a new XE-1 and 18-55 for $1099.95 from camera land in New York a month ago….found the deal on ebay.
One thing is a given when reading forum posts….serial upgraders can never have the perfect camera but real artists and photogs will always be able to produce superior images with less than the latest and greatest. You’d think with a great site dedicated to fuji like this (and a few others) that there’d be less clamor from the spec-heads for the next Great Update based on the testimonials and actual work product being produced with what some consider to be — I guess “inferior” cameras like the XE1 / XP1.
I’d sure hate to see this community devolve into the likes of the dpreview.com forum crowd.
No need to rush… The X-Pro 2 is coming… It will not be in time for Summer vacations, but quite possibly for Fall weekend trips…
Admin has stated numerous times that the update won’t be announced until 2014. Fuji is just taking the hit on profits short term to get a bigger market share. That way there will be more upgrades and the system will be more popular for X-Pro2.
Admin may be wrong 😉 It only quotes rumours.

I wonder if this is in part due to the recent weakening of the yen against the dollar. The X-E1, X-Pro and lenses are all made in Japan so the previous record strength of the yen against other world currencies probably had at least some influence on their original overseas prices.
I agree – the Yen has gotten extremely weak these weeks (I live in Japan and feel it painfully), I’m sure the drops are due to that, whether it’s a short term promotional campaign or not.
Should not be too much of a factor outside of Japan, where the camera might become more expensive. They will try to price the camera at a level where it will sell, so this is a natural progression of pricing for a mature product where its original target market is “saturated”.
IMO the current prices represent reasonable/good value and I doubt the next body version will be able to sell at the original XP1 prices, at least not for long.
I just bought the XE1 w 18-55 in Canada last weekend and got my local camera shop to price-match Futureshop $100 discount plus an additional $100 off for a camera purchase above $1,000. Price before tax $1,199 for the kit.
Noticed that another Canadian camera store too was offering a discount:
https://www.thecamerastore.com/products/fujifilm/fuji-finepix-x-e1-18-55mm-f28-4-r-lm-ois-silver-0
Really enjoying the new system, really hope discounts apply to lenses as I would love to buy a 35mm f1.4.
And X-E1 is not even 9 moths old. A little shafting of the first adopters who paid those clearly overinflated prices.
unless one actually uses and keeps the camera for years, instead of months, and gets their money’s worth. Like a professional, for example.
the 18-55 XE1 kit already dropped to $1149 in Canada, price is close to grey market on Ebay.
Do you have a link for the $1145 price in Canada? I just boug one last weekend and the company I bought it from will price protect for 14 days.
Thanks.
http://www.adencamera.com/product-overviewer.asp?ProdID=4145&Category=1
add to cart to see the price
1150 Canadian = 1110 USD = 850 EUR (excluding shipping, VAT and other taxes of course)
$200 off each body
$200 off the XE1 kit
$200 off the 14 or 35 when bought with a body (thru June)
$300 off the 18, 60, or 18-55 when bought with a body (thru June)
This sound interesting. That would mean an X-E1 & 35mm combo for $1200. 🙂
Where did you get this info? Anyways, I guess we’ll know shortly.
make no sense, $200 off xe1 kit vs $500 off when you buy separately?
Ironically, here in Japan the X-E1 and the X-Pro1 became substantially more expensive over the last couple of weeks…
Could it also be that Fuji is trying to ensure that new camera buyers opt for the Fuji lens as opposed to a Zeiss lens? I may be over thinking this based on my own leanings but…
Regardless, the offer makes my leaning towards an X-Pro 1 all the more interesting.
2 weeks ago a major camera store chain in Australia (TEDS) had the Fuji XE-1 Kit at $1,198 but this rebate only lasted for 3 days, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. It was advertised as a manufacture’s rebate but other stores did not seem to have the discounted price. Teds usually sell the X-E1 kit for $1,298. They also has a manufacture’s rebate price on the prime lenses but once again this was only for 3 days. All camera manufactures are trying to move stock. I would not read much into this new discount price as the market for cameras in tight even for the big players Canon and Nikon.
I read on another blog (?sans mirrors) that if Fuji gave away all of its cameras it would hardly make a difference to the overall company’s profits. Whether this is true or just hyperbole the point is that Fuji are a big profitable company and can afford to buy market share in this way
I bought my x-e1 18-55 kit at Harvey Norman yesterday for $a993 inc gst.
Past midnight in NY, no lower prices at B&H.
Hey…what didi you expect ?
they should make their prices higer not lower and they will enter a other niche market with their lovely actual camera’s.Quality is related to price!
In Australia you can now pick a Fuji X-E1 with 18-55mm (genuine Fuji Australia stock) for less than AUD993. No sure how long this will last however since the A$ is losing value at the moment.
FYI, it’s summer, kids. Prime camera-selling season next to X-mas. All makers are offering deals now and most, I suspect, also have inventory they need to clear to sweeten Q3 results.
It’s June 1. No sales anywhere. 🙁
x-pro2..is coming……..
June 1st here in the US and same prices as yesterday.
Doesn’t seem like this happened from any of the online sources linked on Fuji Rumors…
Correction J&R just lowered the price of the X-Pro 1 to $1076 and also slapped the Clearance label on this camera!!!
That’s $325 less than yesterday’s price!!!
Digging farther, looks like this price may be only for open box X-Pro 1’s
I have used both and the image quality from the X-Pro 1 is far better than that from the 7D (tones, dynamic range, ISO, and sharpness) I have some of Canon’s best glass (35mm f1.4L, 100mm f2.8L IS macro, 70-200mm f4L IS, etc), and I have used some of them via an adapter for special purpose shots, and the results are better in my opinion. While the 7D is definitely better for wildlife and sports, due to the faster AF, the image quality is no better than that from that of a Rebel Series camera, which is sad. And, the dynamic range from Canon cameras in general, including the 5D mkiii, is a weak point. As a Canon user, I wish they were focusing on introducing some inspiring and highly competitive cameras, but instead they continue to take the “give the bare minimum” approach with their cameras, which is evident in all of their cameras below the 5d mkiii.
The fundamental problem with Canon is that they are two process generations behind on sensor technology on the products currently offered. the 7D is even farther behind. Until Canon catches up with sensor technology to Sony and Fuji, all the bells, whistles, and features are not going to make their products competitive from a pure image quality at the pixel level standpoint. That’s not to say you can’t get great pictures with a 1Dx or a 5D3 (not to mention a 7D) but you are going to get better with other cameras using newer sensor technology. Canon got very complacent and have not caught up since 2008 on pure sensor process technology. They certainly have some things in the works but at the sensor level, they are playing some serious catch-up.
You can buy Fuji XE1 shipped to your door for $699 or lower on eBay shipped from Japan. Fuji 35mm F1.4 is $450 new in Japan. So the US price is much higher.
Those who has not purchased fuji X cameras are usually those who feel Fuji current models are not good enough:
Slow AF,
No in-body VR,
Size is not as compact as the market desire for.
Too much plastic, not as solid as a high end camera.
Not a full frame(as good as full frame is not equal to full frame).
We want full frame.
Well, its “tomorrow” and I don’t see a price drop anywhere…..
I have checked at least a five online retailers and I have not seen any price drops today or mention of any sales. Is this sale for real?
Just bought the X-E1 kit (18-55mm) last week from CameralandNY for USD1,099 so discounts are already out there. Would really like to get my hands on the XF 14mm at a sharp price though. Looking out for those rumoured discounts. 🙂
This obsession among Fuji fanboys about people switching from DSLRs is getting old. I love my x-e1 dont get me wrong, but it really can’t replace my full frame Nikon…not yet anyway. I say have both and sadly if I could only have one it would be my Nikon since it has more reliable professional results. Not to say you can’t get pro results. I’ve had shots from my x-e1 published right alongside shots from my Nikon and you would be hard pressed to tell the difference, but the problem isn’t IQ it’s focus speed and lens selection and for me shallower dof from full frame. If I need to make the shot there is no question that I have to go with the reliable focusing of my nikon for now. When we get to the next gen Fuji cams or maybe we’re seeing the start of that now with the 100s, then maybe. When Fuji improves focus on the interchangeable lens cameras and puts out a 105mm or 135mm equivalent fastish prime I think I’ll be more inclined to think of it as a full on replacement system. As of now it is incomplete.
Sorry for the rant I just don’t get this fetish with switching it’s like some Fuji users feel the need to be validated that their camera has DSLR quality. Who cares shoot what you shoot and enjoy it. Don’t try to convince folks to ditch their dslrs too soon. Fuji is getting there and I think by the xe2 or xpro3 the system will be complete and the lenses will all be there.
That being said my fuji camera IS my favorite camera to shoot. It’s the camera I use in all non professional applications and depending on what I’m doing I use it professionally as well. Hell if I could find one I would probably have an x100s right now too. Who knows that 56mm may change my tune altogether.
It’s not just Fuji, there seems to be an insatiable need from those shooting exclusively with mirror-less cameras to convert everybody. As the late Rodney King said “Why can’t we all just get along?”
“This obsession among Fuji fanboys about people switching from DSLRs is getting old.”
Indeed. The Fuji X cameras are tremendous tools, and I’m using my X-E1 (with 14mm, 35mm, 60mm, and 18-55mm) more and more, and it produces really wonderful results, especially given its very small size and weight.
However, I cannot say that “Fuji is better than Canon” or “Canon is better than Fuji” any more than I can say that apples are better than oranges – they are different things and excel at different stuff. For my serious landscape and similar photography a tripod mounted full frame DSLR with a complement of lenses is a better tool. For photographing wildlife including birds in flight, my DSLR is a better tool, as it is for certain types of sports photography. On the other hand, there are many circumstances in which the X-E1 is a better tool – certain kinds of street photography, a great deal of travel photography, some kinds of portrait work.
As always, it is not about what brand or model wins or is better than the other in some absolute sense. It is about what is the best tool for the specific photographer doing the work that he or she does.
Rather than the silly, breathless “Fuji blows Canon away!” (or “Canon blows Fuji away!”) nonsense, think about what each of the options do well and how those strengths (and weaknesses) fit with your own photography.
Dan
It’s also worth noting that the fuji x series aren’t being marketed as a do-all dslr replacement, though many have done that. I shot some photos of the fire here in Southern California today using my nikon dslr and a 300mm lens with a 1.4TC from a hilltop miles from the actual fire. I ALSO had a Sony RX100 compact with me and shot some video of the experience. My favorite XE1 was left at home because I see no point in using an adapter to shoot nikon glass on my XE1 while I still have nikon bodies and I kind of doubt we’ll see a 300mm f2.8 lens for the x-cams anytime soon. The video on the Sony is amazing — something fuji hasn’t even begun to address yet.
No price drop.
YUP! This is just that, A RUMOR! Don’t see prices dropping anywhere.
This post’s title – “… prices will fall tomorrow…” – reminds me of a sign in front of a club that I saw recently in Portland, Oregon: “Free Beer Tomorrow!”
Come back tomorrow and there will still be “Free Beer Tomorrow!” 😉
G Dan Mitchell,
I guess you can’t be looking very hard, because even the owner of one of the Fuji user forums has clearly stated the PRICES HAVE FALLEN IN THE USA
http://www.fujix-forum.com/index.php/topic/10329-new-usa-pricing-x-e1-and-x-pro1-lensbody-specials/
and the prices went so low in Italy and other parts of Europe 4 or 5 months ago that it’s now almost impossible to find an XE1 or XP1 still in stock, as the shops stated clearly they were lowering the prices to get rid of them, and would not be replacing current stock.

Thanks Patrick…you could have at least posted a comment to defuse this rumor…however…in this post you talked as if this is not a rumor…
Did you post this to get more hits?
Very dissapointing…thanks for wasting our time…
it’s a fact 😉
24 hours passed. Nothing happened. No price drop and rebate.
Terry & Annoyed,
I guess you can’t be looking very hard, because even the owner of one of the Fuji user forums has clearly stated the PRICES HAVE FALLEN IN THE USA, and I’m having to REPEAT this posting because you didn’t even read that…. try looking! You won’t find the deals with your eyes shut 🙂

i stand corrected!…just purchased an xp1 at amazon via merchant onecall at 1199…seems to be non left at that price though…adorama has some pretty amazing bundle deals!
on amazon, fuji x-e1 is still available at a discounted price but only in black in either body only or with kit zoom…
applogies for my impatience…i love my x-e1 but really wanted an xp1…now…what to do with my xe1?
thanks patrick!
glad to see you happy now 😉
Up, now the prices have fallen, just a day late 😉
Interestingly, at Adorama, the price of a bundle that includes a memory card, spare battery and card reader is the same price as just the body alone at $1199.
