“Sure, you might think this lens is large when compared to other XF lens. However, when I tried to carry it attached to the X-E1 This time, I felt it was the size of the balance is very good, do not disturb in any way the benefits of a light system. And above all, it is as you can see the Sample images for their image quality. Strongly against the sun, there is also resolution, depiction with the three-dimensional impression.”

  1. Those are the most impressive set of pictures I have seen with this lens. Sadly, i need one today for a trip tomorrow and now need to lug my Nikons.

  2. I won’t be able to shoot wonderful pictures like those, but my only impression is that this lens produce nice result just like the beloved Canon 70-200/4L IS (I used to have it on a 40D). The color, sharpness and bokeh all up to the standard. I am very happy to have it. (from Yokohashi as well 🙂

The lens has a size of typical 55-200 DSLR lens, but not too heavy. I do wish it can be smaller for CSC, but I guess it is a price to pay for IQ.

    1. If it was smaller and lighter then it would also be slower like the competition. That means less light to focus which. Is sort of the achilles heel for the X-cameas. The more light the better focus will be.

      1. Indeed, Indeed.

It may be mirrorless, but sometimes people seem to forget that APSC is still a big area to cover. Not always noticeable with normal lenses, but with tele it cannot be avoided. Tele wasn’t really bothered by the mirror to begin with, they need the length anyway ! Can’t blame tele for being tele. 😉

  3. very good, it seems sharp like my EF 70-200 f4 is. I hope to see photozone.de mtf test soon.

IMHO it will be less sharp then canon, but it’s good enough for a mirrorless.

    1. I think it is not only as sharp as the 70-200/4 IS, but also has better bokeh, which is very smooth and creamy even at 55mm.

    1. Is it just me or is the bokeh not so fantastic at all? In most sample images I’ve seen, the lens gives a mild, nervous look and because of that distracts me somewhat from the subject. At this moment not a complete showstopper for me, but I expected something else.
