  1. Fuji should design the X200 as a direct competitor to the Leica Q. Full frame with a 35mm f/1.4 lens and adapters for 24 mm and 50mm.

I would definitely buy that, even if it is $2k.

    1. Leica Q appears to be just another weird copy of the much more consistent Fuji X100 idea. Maybe also from the RX1, which was in fact also a beefed up copy of the Fuji X100. But I’m not so sure what potential buyers are looking for. This is just an extremely expensive camera that may not be identified as a M-range product so it has been handicapped with a way too short 28mm lens to be practical in the real life, and of course it’s missing an OVF. Yes, it’s full frame. Yes, it has a true Leica lens. Yes, it’s likely more or less the same sensor as the M. Yes it has… AF! Yes, it stays for nearly 80% of the time in your bag since this lens is not what you really wanted. And after all the Leica blogs have shared and spread their over-excitement to the rest of the world, it will forever disappear in the dark dungeons of the Leica range like many non-M products did before. Remember the X-vario? The real fortunated Leica-insiders will only buy M RF-products, forever, while the extra few K’s of investment will never stop them, their fathers have already invested in Leica glass. And to me, really Leica’s sales strategies remain a mystery forever, who wants all this over-expensive “would be” but not really true M-branded stuff. I keep on being convinced in that sideline that Fuji X is a much more rational choice, but indeed; my kids likely won’t enjoy the glass I purchased.

      1. Mostly wrong on all counts. The Q will sell, and sell well. I suspect it will usher in a new popular segment for Leica and almost assuredly replace the T, which has been a sales flop.

  2. Interesting rumor on Sonyalpharumors today.

    Admin of Sonyalpharumors said:
“I now got info from Ricoh and Nikon sources:

They told us that Sony developed a new sensor for the A7000.
By contract that sensor could be used by other companies six months
after the Sony A7000 announcement. The delay of the A7000 release also changed their product roadmap. To use the new Sony APS-C sensor with hybrid autofocus tech they will have to release their camera sometimes in 2016 instead of late 2015 ”

So when X_PRO2 comes out within a few months it will not have that A7000 sensor !

      1. Patrick, thanks for the info.

Fuji should wait then and delay that PRO2 (yes I know delaying again and again).
An other strategy is to introduce the PRO2 as scheduled late 2015 and make the X-T2 the new flagship (with A7000 sensor) a half year later after the A7000 is introduced. In that scenario the PRO2 will be a kind of A6000 machine with Fuji clothes on. Evolutionary but not revolutionary.

    1. we don’t even know, if Fuji will stick with Sony Sensors. Toshiba, Aptina and others make great sensors too.

Furthermore: there are sensors which are not used by Sony but other companies.
(the sensor of the D7200 could be one of those and the IMX193 in the D5300 and D5500 have not [as far as I know] been used in Sony products)

      1. I think a lot of people assumed the next sony apsc would use the sensor from the d7200, which is truly magnificent. So if they’re waiting for something even better, it must be a game changer!

          1. Fuji uses a Toshiba Sensor in their 2/3″ Products 😉

About the D7200: until I see a chipworks teardown, I trust Tom Hogan an others who it’s as likely that the sensor is Toshiba made.

    2. “…could be used…” is a loaded term. It’s entirely possible that Nikon, Fujifilm, etc. already have this sensor and are making their own engineering tweaks to it as we speak, but that they cannot release their cameras until 6 months after the Sony announcement (which is probably coming soon) … assuming that the whole 6 month wait thing is even true.

I fully expect that the X-Pro 2 sensor will be X-Trans III, BSI, and potentially even 28-32Mp (though 24Mp would make more sense for Fuji). I also expect it will outperform the current sensor in the Nikon D7200, which is itself pretty phenomenal and said to have the second best DR performance of any camera on the market today … after the Nikon D810 (14.6 EVs).

  3. If I were to hazard a guess, Fuji is waiting to use a BSI sensor from Sony so as to further increase dynamic range and lower noise for a 24 megapixel sensor.

    1. sony a7000 was delay about sensor why do not call to samsung they had excellent advance-bsi cmos sensor on NX1.

i feel bore about company that dependent device by others company.
