Fujifilm X-A1: name registered at the Korean radio research agency!

 photo X-A1_zps7af54091.png

So it seems that the new (and trusted) Japanese FR-source was right also this time. The next APS-C X-mirrorless interchangeable-lens camera of Fuji will indeed be called X-A1 (read the rumor here). The name has just been registered at the Korean national radio research agency (spotted by digicame-info)

I’ve used google translator to translate the Korean text. The X-A1 will be equipped with wireless technology (approved by the radio research agency) “Specific low power wireless device (wireless devices for wireless data communication system)” and after the X-M1, now also the X-A1 will be produced in Thailand: “Country of origin Thailand“

According to the rumors already published on FR, this camera will be cheaper than the [shoplink 13828]X-M1[/shoplink], it won’t have an X-Trans sensor (and also not the X100 sensor), will come in a lot of colours and will be sold by big retailers on the web and big general stores.

Follow Fujirumors on facebook, twitter and RSS feed and stay tuned for more.

P.S.: dealsrunner found a good offer on the [shoplink 15148 ebay]X-E1 with 18-55 at ebay here[/shoplink] and more! Check all the Fuji deals at dealsrunner.com.

bye
Patrick

    1. Sensor had little to do with the colors, it’s just their processing.

Today’s sensors simply do better, and a Fuji’s still a Fuji.

    1. Since its the cheapest of the X-series of cameras it will not feature a full frame sensor – I guess the FF stands for FujiFilm…

  1. Eitherway hopefully the low end camera’s will be successful. The more Fuji brings in, the more they can invest in R&D and production (preferably in Japan).

  2. Its possible that the x100 sensor can no longer be made as the factories that make sensors may have moved to newer processes. So they just take whatever is on offer, which is good since the x100 is pretty old, no matter how good it is/was progress is part of the game.

Perhaps its going to be very similar to the M1 … same factory same parts bin … I wonder what else they can drop/cut from that camera to make it cheaper. Perhaps the external flash mount, ALL the buttons and just use a touch screen, and external ports (usb), plastic finish (in fun colours perhaps).

Their mid range (X etc) cameras are starting to have even more models than there low range models, its such an incredible number of cameras being released (check at DP review, its astonishing how many models are out in 2013 alone … and the majority are not the small compact low end units, according to this they have more “biger lens cameras” out than Canon for instance).

Fuji ability to put out so many variants is astounding, but … can you make money doing that? Its not actually a change in strategy, just a change in target market – from low to mid.

    Interesting, thats for sure.

  3. My only concern is that there Will be too many “x” camera’s. which supposed to be the premium segment of fuji. A high end point and shoot with an aps-c sensor of course will eat up sales the sales of the rx100, dlux6 and alike.
