Baltimore Riots: The story behind TIME’s iconic cover taken with a 16MP APS-C Fuji by Devin Allen!

Back in May we reported how Devin Allen, an X-shooter living in Baltimore, photographed the protests and city life there and how one of his images made the cover of the TIME magazine. As to expect, the shot he took with his 16MP APS-C Fuji changed his life… and maybe Fujifilm should think to hire him as an offical Fuji X-Photographer, too.

Now you can read and see the story behind TIME’s iconic X-cover at the Flickr-Blog here.

        1. OP talks about, quote, “violent rampaging thugs”. You, on the other hand, are the one who’s pulling the race card and suggesting that opposing voices should be silenced. Now who’s racist?

          1. Tell me, Trenton, do you prefer “white supremacy” or “Caucasian heritage preservationism”? BTW, I love how you edited your original post of “F you!” to your now tame “take a hike”. Just like you and your pal used “thug” to really mean the n-word.

          2. Neither. I prefer to call looting thugs what they really are, no matter what color is their skin. And you are the real racist here, since for you the skin color comes first.

          3. Oh dear, you’ve robbed a bumper stickers factory, didn’t you? I don’t want to get even close to disgustingly simple world of yours, so… Dear humanoid (I won’t call you sir to skip the part where you start pulling bumper stickers from your “sexist” pile), would you be so kind to get lost? You can even enjoy yourself in the process.

          4. Why are you so upset about being called a racist? Aren’t you proud of it? Come on man! It’s the era of Donald Trump! Say what you mean! Again, you’re not fooling anyone. We’ve all deciphered the code.

          5. Race wasn’t a factor in Justin Timberlake’s comment. Race was brought into the matter with your comment. Trenton is merely pointing out that perhaps you should reflect on that. Your response resembles personal attacks. Perhaps you should reflect on that, also. Please now tell me which parts of the internet I spend my time on based on the content of my comment, cheers.

          6. Yes, there is nothing racist about calling a black man running from dozens of militarized police a “rampaging thug”. Especially if he’s part of a protest against the police brutally murdering another black man while in custody. Nothing racist at all. You win the internet sensitivity award.

  1. Why shouldn’t Fuji hire an urban photojournalist that uses their products to be an X photographer? They hire everyone else as an X photog.

    1. Not being critical of Devin’s work; these are good images in the vein of photojournalism, but they are also among the best images that he shows online. He’s still early developing his skills, and his body of work isn’t up to par with those that Fuji ask to be in that program.

Also, there are plenty of photojournalists that are official X-photographers,

  2. I hope he got appropriate pay for the photos. I read that at first he just gave the pictures for free when they were worth thousands.

FWIW in an interview he said he shoots the XT1 with primes, but as someone said, that’s a distant point.
