 photo guaf_zpsdzdcn9tk.jpg

It’s Fuji TIME, guys!

Now it’s official, you can win a World Photography Award and also snap the TIME Magazine Cover using Fuji X-series cameras ;)!

Just yesterday we reported how X-shooter Aristide Economopoulos won a World Photography Award with his X-shots. Now we can register another great success: Devin Allen, an X-shooter living in Baltimore and covering the protests and city life there, made the cover of the TIME magazine. Devin shared this news over at his Instagram. More about Devin and his shots covering the Baltimore Protests at time.com.

Congratulations Devin, you captured a great shot/story with your Fuji.

There are some really lovely images to admire also at the Fujirumors facebook photostream. You can share your shots at the Fujirumors facebook timeline (add “Photo/Video”).

    1. Unlikely for an XPRO1 Seems too small – I’d say X-E1 or 2
And if it was an XPRO2 he would probably be breaching half a dozen NDAs

  1. I wonder if he used a film simulation? After all, we have been told recently that no professional uses them and it’s the same as Instagram.

  2. How about a photo of some of the victims of Mr. Gray selling illicid drugs? also, Mr. Gray seems to have had some heroin in him when he died as a result of hurling himself against the interior of the police van, which (the heroin) may help explain how he didn’t feel his body reacting to the pain he was trying to inflict upon himself.

    1. I do not believe this is the right place to start a social or political debate however interesting it might be. There are plenty of other fora on the internet to have such a conversation.

  3. Congratulations to Devin Allen. Irrespective of which camera and strap was used, he has a cover of Time magazine under his belt. That immediately promotes him to Charlie Big Potatoes status in the photojournalistic world.

More importantly, if you can distance yourself from the politics surrounding the event (and this is understandably difficult for some), he took a powerful set of images that any news tog would be proud of.

The fact he did this with a Fuji is very much a secondary concern, but it highlights the nonsense spouted by those who seem determined to twist every way to prove their choice of camera is the One True Path.

And as an amateur photographer, if he wants a career in photojournalism, Devin Allen just got the best tear-sheet on the planet.

  4. Wow, such a powerful image. It seems Instagram wipes the exif data; I would love to know what settings he used.

  5. As a recovering f/64 addict, I can now say that a photo does not always have to be tack sharp to be compelling.

  6. Hah – correct, with another cam he might have gotten the fleeing guy in the forefront sharp, BUT turns out the photo is much more powerful with the cops in formation tack sharp – Happy coincidence then ;D
