Second part of the FS7 4K FE camcorder review at TheCameraStoreTV.

The second part of the big FS7 review really proves how Sony is capable of learning and listening to create a superb camcorder. It’s an almost perfect camera as stated by the TCSTV team.

I do hope Sony will put the same kind of effort when developing cameras. So please Sony, make us a nice Sony A9 that really suits for pro photography! 🙂

  1. The FS7 was created by Sony’s PROFESSIONAL / broadcast / cinema division of the company.

This division is made up of a large group actual high end or top end industry people that support it. Go to NAB and you will see who im talking about.

Sony’s Alpha division today is just a consumer division. These guys are nice but they have a long way to go to catch up to Sony’s pro division in knowledge and service.

  2. “So please Sony, make us a nice Sony A9 that really suits for pro photography!”

How they gonna do that when the mount itself is not suited for pro photography?

At time code 10:50 reviewer states “You can drop PL lenses on there but I’m always really scared to because that E-Mount is uh… I’ve never broken one, but I’ve heard reports of people actually tearing the front off, and that scares me. So you’ll need to use lens supports when using larger lenses”.

I know I know… I’m just a troll causing trouble by revealing other pro troll concerns. E-Mount is super strong made of super duper special stuff and all the wobble reports are just imaginary make.believe.

    1. Time code 11:10 reviewer states:
“Now there are native E-Mounts… But all of them are focus by wire, which drives me crazy. The faster I spin that ring, the more it jumps. So it’s really hard to do consistent focus pulls. You never know exactly where it’s going to wind up”.

High praise for the focus ring on the 28-134/4. Low praise for the chosen focal length on APS-C sensor size.

Fly by wire focus stinks. Sony made E-Mount for pocket soccer mom snapshots. Not pro users.

        1. Huh? Canon 85L is not a Sony lens. It has a big boy mount. The ONLY reason you’re using it on Sony cam is because you like the features. But the mount stinks. And you’ll only use it for as long as it takes for Canon or BM or Red to make something similar with a real lens mount.

Sony E-Mount is a temporary solution to demonstrate tech ma$terba$hun.

          1. Really, its a $2200 pro Canon lens for soccer moms according to your friggin’ logic! Edit: You jokers are like car salesmen, little emphasis on driving talent or experience, but plenty good at tire kicking & BS………….

          2. uhm… no… I just said it’s a “big boy”. Proven rig for professionals. It doesn’t use fly wire and it isn’t E-Mount. How you discombobulated my comments into that lens being for soccer mom is beyond me. Examine my words please and don’t cast logic bombs where they are undo.

E-Mount was originally made for soccer moms. Not the Canon L series.

Got it now friend? I’ll say it again if you like.

          3. My friend, it doesn’t matter if “I’m” a professional or not. If I am, then understand that complaining here with my true identity would not be beneficial to my branding. Serves my business no good to prove to you that I’m worthy of quoting a reviewer above, and agreeing with him.

What is important is how much attention this thread has received just because people want to rush to defend Sony, by any means possible, insult, avoiding the issue, questioning authority… all without ever addressing the actual observation at hand. Must have been free cool aid day in Sony land.

          4. If you complained and outlined something valid, your comments would be welcome and many would likely agree with you. But we know exactly what you’re doing and that’s trolling because you feel threatened somehow by this impressive product release. You’re taking it too personal, it’s only a camera. But one that’s superior to whatever you have now. 🙂

          5. Excellent clairvoyant skills you have Anton. You really know me man.

Interesting that others do agree with me. The reviewer in the video, and the other pro horror stories he referred to. Nobody here obviously… but you knew that didn’t you… sneaky psychic voodoo that you have.

          6. No doubt it’s a great camera… with an awful lens mount that must be pampered for pro use. Nothing wrong with admitting the truth. We’d all be better served acknowledging that.

          7. You have two choices here, eight grand for this or fifty for a C500, take your pick my soccer mom.

          8. The E mount video cameras are beating the pants off Canon even with it’s “big boy mount”. You’re delusional.

          9. Perhaps you’re delusional for avoiding the premise of my comments, and suggestion that I’m delusional for not addressing sales figures?

I didn’t say they were not. I didn’t talk about features or sales figures. I talked about the stability of the lens mount, which is exactly what the pro reviewer talked about too.

But thank your for contributing more comments to this thread, which really helps draw more attention to the issue on topic.

          10. What camera were the video pros using that made the video? Daaaaaaa the Sony FS7. Not a Canon or Nikon a Sony, they are real pros not a blowhard troll talking out of his a$$ on a message board. Stop taking yourself so seriously, you don’t know what you’re talking about. And now you’re crying like a little baby for getting called out on your BS. Too bad, get use to it.

          11. And what did they complain about it?

I’m not complaining about the camera. I’m addressing the lens mount, just like the reviewer did. Go argue with him.

            Then question yourself…
Name one other mount in the history of photography that required a third party developer to release a better version because the original was so poorly conceived.

          12. Did you miss the part where they adopted the FS7 as their professional tool for recording video? Mount an all, chosen over the competition. Give it up Special Ed, you’re full of BS.

          13. Did you miss the part where he talked about the weak E-Mount? Which is what this thread is about?

I didn’t miss the part where YOU completely avoid the topic at hand, but try to hide the issue by bringing up other benefits.

          14. Actually I did I heard the part were he said he has never in is entire career had a single fault with a e-mount camera, but he did say he’s knows some people who knows some people who may have. hahahaha Just sayin

    2. You actually ever seen a PL Mount designed for hanging a cine lens off? It’s made that way for a reason!

        1. About as relevant as your brilliant irrelevant observations, when Sony actually manufacture an FE lens capable of breaking the mount we will talk………….. Oh look mom, I just broke your PRIUS by strapping a 10,000 LB trailer to its back bumper. Well, that’s OK son, not your fault, Toyota should have made it stronger. SEE HOW STUPID YOU SOUND SON!

          1. Uh… the issue isn’t mounting E-Mount lenses. The issue is considering E-Mount as pro worthy when the pro above has reservations and horror stories about mounting pro lenses upon it.

If pros are worried about it, as has been my personal experience too, then the mount is not pro grade. Very simple math my friend. Sony is trying to make E-Mount do something that it was never intended to become.

Address your future comments to the reviewer above who’s sending caution your way. Your argument is not with me friend.

          2. ITS A PROSUMER MOUNT CAMERA FOR $8000 – ARE YOU REALLY THIS DUMB. WANT A PL CAMERA, SONY WILL SELL YOU AN F65.

          3. Touchy yelling? How about just a mortal mount like A-Mount or EOS which never has any issues with larger lenses? Don’t need to go all PL on me dude.

          4. Not my experience. And apparently not the experience of the reviewer above, nor the professional horror stories he refers to.

But good that it works for you. Really, I’m happy you’re satisfied with it.

          5. Actually not the experience of the user in the video, just the hear say he was addressing. No side taking by me, but just saying… you have a point but you keep morphing your story to fit your argument when someone address you gripe. Like I said no side taking by me, just saying.

      1. Exactly, lets strap a PL mount to an A7x body just so these clowns can bolt a Panavision Primo 135-420 to it, BRILLIANT IDEA. Can they actually afford an A7 is a better question? LOL

        1. Great, instead of commenting on the quotes from the reviewer above, just cast passive aggressive insults directed others financial capacity, of which you know nothing about whatsoever. Nice way to avoid the issue.

          1. Are you going to strap a Primo to your AS7? If you are, why not listen to what he said SUPPORT IT. If you want to hang a PRIMO without support, BUY A PL MOUNT CAMERA……. This stuff aint complicated. WTF do you want from an $8000 camera, REALLY, look at what you are getting for $8000. Talk about looking a gift horse in the mouth and moaning like a spoilt kid who probably has never even sat on a bloody horse. BE GRATEFUL you can get all that for $8000………

          2. Because I’m tired of my ZA135 and Otus 85 wobbling on my a7R. I’d be crazy to use my 300/2.8 in the same way as I do on my a99.

          3. So…. follow the logic friend. If I’d be crazy to do such a thing, but other pros can mount their 300/2.8 on their cameras, and don’t have issues with their big lenses… then it follows that E-Mount is not suited for pro usage. Which was the point of my original comment.

Fact is… E-Mount requires pampering. Not exactly what I would call pro.

          4. Seen that foot on the bottom of a 300, what’s it for dear? Good grief, I kinda messed up with you didn’t I. 😉

          5. Yes, that foot was originally designed to stabilize on tripod or monopod to reduce vibrations for long telephoto lenses. But take one look down the sidelines of any professional sporting event and witness all the togs with 300/2.8’s hanging from their next with 500/600 f4’s on the monopods. They aren’t afraid to mount the large lens because their mount was designed with that lens from the beginning. Togs like that need to be capable of grabbing camera and running down the sideline without worrying if they’re holding the camera the right way because it needs special pampering.

Hence the original topic, E-Mount was NEVER designed for pro use.

          6. What portable video camera could you hang an unsupported 600 mm lens off of? That’s the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard, now we know you full of it. Videographers mount camera, lens, microphone, viewing screen on a rig.

          7. Hey, that’s a Nikon. Why not just hand the lens on it and run down the sideline like the troll said.

          8. Look closer, see those strap lugs on the telephoto glass – good, glad we straightened that out!

      2. Name one other mount in the history of photography that required a third party developer to release a better version because the original was so poorly conceived.

        1. Nikon, Canon, Olympus and others use Sony sensors because they are so much better that in-house designs. Pull your head out of your a$$ for five minutes and think about how stupid you sound.

          1. And what does that have to do with the weak E-Mount? Only that other companies can use same technology and do it with more robust gear.

    3. “I’ve never broken one, but I’ve heard reports” Reports from who? That voice inside your head.
“Make us a nice Sony A9 that really suits for pro photography!” You’re not a pro photographer just a amateur troll regurgitation tired BS talking points. If you don’t like the mount, there are several others to choose from. The review of the FS7 praised the camera’s capability and had no issues whatsoever with the mount. The videographer was critical of the fly by wire focusing which is not ideal for video. This isn’t a big issue because most professional use manual focus lenses anyway. You’re trying hard but not making a single valid point, give it up and stop embarrassing yourself.

      1. I didn’t make the point. The reviewer above did. How does that make me a troll for pointing out concerns of others, which I have also experienced myself?

          1. I’m an idiot for quoting a professional, and offering reference to the quote?

Troll… Idiot… I see you have much to contribute to this topic. Way to avoid the subject. Nicely done!

          2. You’re an idiot for not have the comprehension to understand the review which was a glowing report praising the camera and adopting it for their professional use. You pulled a couple sentences out of context and tried in vain to make a point and failed horribly.

          3. Uhmm no… my quotes were definitely in context. Just watch the video. Lot’s of praise yes. Kudos to Sony yay!

But why are you so afraid to address the complaints? It’s a review. It talks bad points too my friend. Shall we ignore them? Make.beleive? How much Sony cool aid have you drank today?

          4. More accurately, you’re an Idiot/Troll with the comprehension of a mildly retarded person. From now on we call you Special Ed.

          5. You’ve brought so much enlightenment to this thread. Your comments are well received a worthy of study. I can’t thank you enough for your insight. Thanks Troll Control!

    4. Didn’t Sony reinforce the mount starting with the a7s? I’m a little skeptical. Plus, many users of PL mount lenses are going to use support rods.

      1. Point is, what’s the photographer to do when he wants to mount a large lens on any E-Mount camera? This isn’t just a video mount.

It’s a soccer mom mount that’s trying to play pro. No other lens mount in history has had so many wobble complaints… and then require the user to add adapters for even more wobbles. No other mount in history has required a third party developer to release a more stable version because the original was so poorly conceived and never intended to become what it has.

Seriously… when was the last time you heard any reviewer… any pro… comment that a lens mount was weak? Only E-Mount gets those comments, and very consistently. I don’t understand why it’s so bad to address that issue.

        1. If you’re really concerned with the mount there is a third party fix for that for under $50. The A7s, A7II have strengthened the mount and incorporated into the production process, so this troll talking point is no longer valid. How do you fix a crappy Canon sensor, is there a third party fix for that? No, you stuck with it.

          1. Finally… you actually addressed the topic at hand. If you had any experience with the mount changeover, then you’d know that it does help, but it doesn’t solve the problem. It makes a weak design a little stronger. Thats’ all.

But it also demonstrates Sony’s lack of vision for the current purpose they’re trying to make E-Mount serve. Shame on you Sony for being the only company in the history of photography that required a 3rd party to improve the stability of your mount.

          2. The Sony was the camera of choice selected for professional use as outlined in the review, not Canon or Nikon. Did you miss that part, the Sony was the best choice!

          3. It proves your attempt at making a point about the lens mount to be invalid. The was no indication anywhere in this review that there was an issue with the mount. Get it?

          4. Time codes provided above will prove you wrong. I invite all to view and see for yourself. It’s kind of hard to lie about this stuff when the truth is so readily available.

          5. It was a non issue, if it was the Sony would not have be chosen over the Canon and Nikon. The Sony was best, say that to yourself very slowly, then shed a tear 🙁 Troll.

          6. It was chosen because it’s the best, and that really gets under your skin by making your argument look petty and stupid.

          7. When you talk about my skin… I get all warm and kinky inside.

And no doubt Sony does many things “best”. But they also do many things worst… read E-Mount. Let the same reviewers take a poll as to which mount is the least robust of all lens mounts in history… You gonna take any bets on that one?

          8. Ah yes, reference a couple of kids who work in a camera story as the ultimate truth. That is how much you know about camera’s I guess: whatevever some other guy says on youtube.

          9. How do you stay on topic?

I’m not convinced you’re capable of fixing anything until you can learn how to focus, and really stay on the subject at hand.

          10. Why did you buy a 5DIII? Sell it, it’s worth money.
Replace the mount? Wobbly? Only a incompetent idiot has trouble with the a7 mount, the 55 is not going to make it wobble, neither is any other Sony FE mount piece of glas. So wtf are you doing to make it wobble? Put a heavy lens on it? And what? You don’ know it needs support? wtf are you another armchair fauxtographer? The whole argument is BS.

        2. And shoot the messenger while you’re at it. But is that me? Or the reviewer above? Hmmm… better get your aim straight.

          1. Only when you grow tired of avoiding the issue. That will make me very sad. Tears will be shed no sooner.

          2. And the point is? I have a couple e-mount camera’s, I have no problem with the mount, es if you want, even the a7s can wobble but who dah fokk doesn’t support his lens while shooting? I tell you who: whiney little troll biaatches and soccer moms. The thing that makes the e-mount not a pro mount is nothing, it has been the most liberating mount in the history of photography and people love it. If there really are massive problems these whinefest SAR comment sections would be filled with people telling horror stories. Stop whinig about possible “I heard of people who might have had issues” rubbish.

          3. Crap messanger. What did Jordan say, is he going to adopt this flawed camera or not?

        3. Point is, if Nikon and Canon are so incompetent to make a good sensor themselves, and use 3rd party sensor, why is it so strange that someone can use 3rd party mount? After all, Sony corrected their mount in the matter of months. How many more months or years for Canicon to make their own competitive sensor?

        4. The mount on my 7D was crap, so was the one on my 5DIII. When I put my 400 on it I couldn’t just hold the camera without the whole image wobble allover the place!

        5. Gotcha journalism, its the last refuge of a hack. What did Jordan say, is he going to adopt this flawed camera or not?

        6. Hey clueless: have you seen that 28-135? You think it is made of paper? How much weight do you tink the e-mount can handle on the FS7? They fixed the mount problem with the A7s and really fixed it with the a7II. The FS7 is available as a kit with the fuji Cine cabrio lens a 5.6lbs Cine PL, that’s a 35K lens, you think they would offer that if it would rip the camera apart? no because you use the right support, anyone who rips his camera apart by putting too much weight on the mount shouldn’t be using that camera in the first place.
          http://www.cinema5d.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/FS7_Cathedral_rig-640×640.jpg

      2. Yes. Look at the chassis on the AS7, its not the same as the A7S et al. This guy is simply trolling for attention.

    5. WOW look at all the attention this thread got… just because Sony fanboys can’t face the issue of what’s been said on this video, and by many other togs, consistently, for a very long time now.

I really appreciate you guys avoiding the truth, and trying everything to change the topic. Brings some great attention to the issue that would otherwise have gone unnoticed without you!

      Awesome SAR!

      1. It’s so much fun to slap down trolls with such stupid talking points. What’s next on the troll talking point list Special Ed?

        1. Son, you need to stop talking to yourself. When you use Special Ed as your user name, and then talk to Special Ed in your comments, it reveals a psychosis that you might not want to advertise so obviously.

          1. Well, you can give me a name… you can give me anything you want to… but that doesn’t mean I have to take it… LOL. Especially when you use it as your user name and then start talking to yourself…. Hahahahahahahah OMG ROFL OUT LOUD.

      2. Interesting how you negate to mention the fact that even with Jordan’s critique he actually said, “this camera will become his new camera.” Just like MSNBC, you sir are a hack with selective recall.”

    6. A PL adapte comes with it’s own support, even on the hotrod PL 7D nobody would ever be stupid enough to put a PL lens on the 7D and then expect the mount to hold the weight. It’s why we use 15mm rod systems. It is the same reason nobody grabs just the body when shooting with a 600mm lens, but you know, being a PRO you know that, so yes it is a trolly post and yes the mount is weak and no it is not the mount that makes the system pro or not.

      1. Are you comparing cine’ lenses to a 600/4 size and justifying calling me names with that? Pros do carry 300/2.8 lenses upon Canon, Nikon, Contax, Leica, and even Sony A-Mount without any problems or worries after years of abuse. Try that with an E-Mount and it will be gonners in a day.

Or just tell me you think E-Mount is as robust as all the other mounts. Do your really think so?

        1. A 600mm is about as heavy as your average PL zoom lens, so yes I think that was a good comparison. I have used my Canon 400mm on my A7s for 6 months without a problem, just as with the 1Dx I pick it up by the lens not the body. I don’t theorise about petty crap, I use my gear and we will find out sooner or later. By then I’m sure I have switched to a new body anyway.

  3. The FS7 seems like an awesome camera, but I am more interested in that power-zoom lens.

While the zoom range isn’t super useful for proper S35 shooting, the features are pretty amazing for the price. Parfocal and powerzoom with an image circle that large? This is the biggest news of the past two years if you ask me. This thing could be five times the price.

  4. Screw photography, the iphone is good enough for photography! Keep making better cameras for video!!!!!!!!

        1. Digitalrev was only occasionally entertaining, the only good thing come out from them is the cheap camera pro photographer challenge and the speedshooter series. And actually i am enjoying camerastore tv’s reviews.

    1. These guys are one of the better ones though. If you don’t like, then why not produce your own reviews? Post a link for us when you get that together.

  5. Certainly hope sony will not listen to the SAR crowd and wont put the 50mpix monster into the a9 (if its supposed to be a pro camera,it needs much more “normal” resolution, like 24….but some people around here will never understand)

    1. You’ve never shot for advertising have you? Must crop very loose to allow designers room for copy, logos, banners, and cropping after the ad is finished and ready to print extra large tabloid trade show banners.

You have enough 24mp cameras to choose from already. Mind if some of us get a super high MP camera too? Thanks.

      1. Nor the a7r or the upcoming a9 with 50mpx do resolve more than 20mpx with the best prime lenses. If you want more linear resolution you should go to medium format, where the pixel density is lower

        1. I wish there actually was a MF image sensor, yet still there isn’t. Medium Format had at least 6cm on one edge, i.e., the width of the film stock.

          1. I’m back to shooting 120 and ordered me a nice epson v850 scanner, going to shoot some fun TS shots with my M645, even found I have a 35mm in the box. The stuff we forget, should be fun! Only sad news: someobody played with my 55-110 and broke the zoom…bstrds!

      2. you’re talking about a “special purpose” pro camera…
Im talking about a pro camera in the lights of D4/1D, which is usable in any field (has a fast AF, fast burst rate, good high ISO…the things you wont get with the 50mpix monster sensor)

  6. 0ver 100 comments and only 3 that are not troll comments or rewind of old Bs whines about some imaginary shortcoming.

Want to complain about Sony? Go to the Sony website, or what? you are afraid they might answer? Time to flag every useless comment from now on. Let’s start with this one 😛

    1. Wait… So some guy actually quotes the reviewer, and offers references, and spends the next 99 comments defending himself for being called troll and idiot by Sony shills who only want the praise to be heard… and you’re complaining about the original commenter?

Spoken like a true Sony hack fanboy who can’t hear when professionals express concerns that affect their bottom line. The “rewind of old Bs whines” will stop when Sony acknowledges they are real. The only “imaginary shortcomings” are from the Sony land of make.believe.

    2. Very true, and now dumbbehinds can come and complain about your point hahaha… this is such a stupid website: ebay clickbait and morons pretending to talk about camera’s they don’t want.

  7. When don’t need a nice A9 right now. Who is asking for this? I haven’t seen any comments from peeps on here shouting for 50 monster pickles. How about some dual card slots and get rid of that AA filter on the A7II. That would be a nice start.
