Fuji big release day on January 15: X-PRO 2, 100-400mm XF and a new X70 compact!

Bildschirmfoto 2015-12-09 um 17.39.18

Well it seems January 15 is really a big day for Fuji lovers. Not only will they announce the X-PRO2 and the 100-400mm Xf lens. But Fujirumors reports that there will be a new X70 compact camera too! And according to one of my sources the compact camera will be announced on the same day of the X-PRO 2.

It will have the following specs:
– 16MP Xtrans II sensors
– 28mm lens
– very compact size
– no EVF
– price under $1,000.

    1. An update that we are waiting for ? 16 MP vs 16 MP , 28mm vs 28mm , compact size vs compact size , no evf vs no evf . I’m sorry but where is the update here ? ๐Ÿ™‚
I will keep my GR for sure , at least it’s incredibly sharp , unfortunatly i can’t say the same about the X-trans ( Adobe user )

    2. Yeah right like someone would want to go from the best user interface of any compact (GR) to one of the worst (Fuji X10 and X20) . Thanks pass

  1. Why would I want the X70 when I have the X-T10 (and EVF) with the sharp 27mm f2.8 attached? The X-T10 with 27mm lens makes for a great, small walkabout system. And did I mention it has the EVF? Oh, and you can keep your GR.

          1. Sure, but you end up having a better camera that can accept many other lenses. That’s basically why all the cameras you mentioned were never big hit, commercially.

          2. Not where I live. I live in Tokyo, and the cheapest of those 3 you mentioned is (surprisingly) the Nikon Coolpix A. The XF 18mm is cheaper than the Nikon. And actually the kit xm1 + 27mm + 16-50 is as expensive as the Coolpix A. Sure, the xm1 is quite a crappy camera per se, but the 27mm is an excellent lens, which with that sensor produces excellent + results. You get my point, I hope: for the same price you get a system camera, not much larger than the fixed lens camera. If you spend a bit more than the Ricoh Gr2 you can get the Xt10, which is actually a good camera, plus the 27mm, or, with a tiny bit more, the 18mm. I must say: with these minimal price differences, there is not reason to buy a fixed lens camera. These considerations apply to the Japanese market, of course (I don’t know about the States).

          3. Sorry, but the link you provide appears to be for the Coolpix S7000 camera, which is not in the same league as the cameras we were talking about…

          4. You are right. I wonder why it was listed as A.
The real US prices are $399 new on Amazon etc, $300 used. Anyway, for Fuji it will be hard if they release the same thing at $1000 or anywhere close.

          5. Amen to that. In order to be competitive, at this point, they would need at least a new sensor (24mp), 4K, EVF, and possibly not a fixed lens but a zoom lens. Then, at 1000-1500 $ it would be a must-have (at least for me). Yeah, I know, not going to happen…

  2. Why would anyone buy a Fuji APSC fixed lens camera? Take the X-M1 plus 18mm f2 and you get the same (X-trans sensor, small body and lens, no EVF), but with the possibility to change lenses.
Btw. Fuji could have learned from Nikonยดs mistake with Coolpix A; nobody wants a fixed lens compact without an EVF and those 10 people ๐Ÿ˜‰ who must have such a niche product buy a Ricoh GR.

    1. As an owner of the X-M1, I must say that it is a very bad camera. Granted, the sensor is great, and the lenses magnificent, but the camera gets in the way of taking the pics you want in so many different ways that I may actually substitute it for a fixed lens Apsc (or FF) camera, at some point.

  3. XF 18/2 is a little bulky comparing with 27/2.8. So any X-camera with 18/2 will be much bigger than X70 (I’d like it will be small like Ricoh GR)
Ricoh has f/2.8, and Fuji XF18 – f/2 with better high ISO of X-trans sensor.
So a lot of sense in X70 for me
