  1. I am really hoping these multiple ‘silly-leaks’ are a smoke screen for something interesting. I am rather underwhelmed by the rumoured announcements so far.

I use a XP1, XT1 and X100s for weddings but want to have 2 XP2’s. The XT1 is a great camera but I simply prefer the RF style as it’s more engaging to a subject as you aren’t hiding behind the body of the SLR style. Especially for kids at weddings and for family portraits.

Everything feels to be progressing a little slowly but I am glad to have moved entirely away from Canon now and love the small bag, 3 or 4-lens wedding kit that doesn’t break my back but provides great image quality!

    1. I like RF style too, tried X-T1 a few times but it just does not work for me and so well as X-E2. These all rumors about X-T1 comming upgrades – including 1/32000 electrionc shutter, better JPEG engine, opportunities given to X-T1 owners to exchange some parts of camera to put it at higher performance level, makes me jealous… but at the same time disappointed that Fujifilm forgotten – there are no rumors about X-E2 similar apgrades – about X-E2 users. Probably Fujifilm lists X-T1 on top now, but for me X-E2 is a top camera I like best and will not move to X-T1, but would like to hear same good news about comming uprades for X-E2. X-T1 and X-E2 are different style cameras but stay equal as best of these two styles, so why Fuji is not giving to X-E2 users same upgrades? Makes me really dissapointed.

        1. Sounds great! Could you point me the place where he said this? Did he mention what new X-E2 fw update will include – any mention of new jpeg engine, 1/32ooo electronic shutter or faster auto focus?

          1. Thanks. Pity there is not more details about new features, I look forward to hear if jpeg engine will be corrected as in X-30/X-100T (and probably in X-T1 as it’s already said) and also AF performace. These are two X-E2 improvements I mainly wait for (1/3200 shutter would be also great add), hope Fuji will make it, otherwise I am going to move for Sony Nex with side view finder.

          2. I am sure I will not be waiting till X-E3 is on sale, probably 1 year to wait for, it’s too much now for me to struggle with AF – first on X-E1 and now on X-E2 plus X-E2 jpegs quality which I do not like as much I liked with X-E1. If it’s going to be modest changes in X-E2 and no improvements of two main factors that is image quality and af performance, than I just will not find more patience for Fujifilm.

    1. You see, when Leica assembles their T bodies, they impregnate the logo with the ashes of Henri Cartier-Bresson’s film rejects. Then, they polish it by hand – overall procedure takes almost an hour: http://vimeo.com/92073118

Fuji, on the other hand, is a Japanese brand, and their cameras weren’t used by HCB. So while the process of coating the body is still manual and state-of-the-art, they can afford to skip the step that involves film ashes and use cheaper substitutes. Zack’s beard, for example, has been used to make the black paint for a “limited edition” black X100.

…No one knows for sure what kind of pigments, poisons and technological advances went into hands-multilayer coating of state-of-the-art in the body of the X-T1, but from the sound of it, it is somehow related to Google Translate.

    1. The “crazy” 1/32000 shutter rumors makes more sense in connection with release of new hardware, hence I expect this to be available in the X100T and X-T1 Ltd Ed (?) only. I don’t believe this can be implemented in firmware (if that was the case, why didn’t they do it in on release date?).

I can understand Fuji releasing a silver version, no big deal and if you look at the rest of the X range, why not ? Perhaps they use the opportunity to upgrade the D-pad buttons on the back as well (the #1 complaint of X-T1 owners), but to introduce a new shutter mechanism ?!? I don’t see this fitting into their strategy/mindset. On the other hand, I think the X-T1 has been a runaway success for Fujifilm, so maybe they are trying to cash in on it ? It sure is a new situation for them.

(lots of question marks in this post, sorry…I feel like one myself when it comes to these rumors)

        1. Yes that is true, but it didn’t extend the
capability beyond that of the mechanical shutter, did it? AFAIK it solved some shutter vibration issues by using an electronic first shutter and it was only available for slower shutter speeds. Maybe it IS possible though, but I assume there are some drawbacks otherwise everybody would do it

          1. If it is true and you can send your XT1 to Fuji to install electronic shutter and 1/32000 capability for $200, I would do it in a second. I’ve been limited by 1/4000 recently at my summer vacation, and screwing around with ND filter on/off, etc, is a pain.
