The official Sony FE lens roadmap.
According to one of our trusted sources (Thanks DrPhotorumor) Sony will also announce the final A7s pricing on May 1. Those interested to buy the camera will finally get preorder links on all major stores like Sony US, Amazon and BHphoto..
The one more interesting rumor I got says that there will be two new lenses too. Well, we know the A77II will get a slightly updated kit lens but I hope this isn’t what the source meant so say 🙂
If the Sony roadmap didn’t fool us with the timing than these could be two new Zeiss FE lenses. I do hope sources can confirm or deny this after reading this post. Just drop me an anonymous message using the contact form on the top right of the browser or write me using a fake email account at sonyalpharumors@gmail.com. Thanks!
In summary this is what Sony could launch on May 1 10am London time:
Sony A77II: An “upgraded” version of the current A-mount A77. With new 24MP sensor and Wifi, faster Af and EVF.
Sony RX100M3: Features an amazing 2470mm f/1.8-2.8 lens and a pop-up viewfinder
Sony A7s: pricing.
Two lenses: Likely two new FE Zeiss?

Still no betamax news. I guess they aren’t going to announce a new roadmap.
Typical! I have just invested in Betamax and they start pushing a new one called VHS. Thanks a bunch, Sony!
I’m glad I switched from Elcaset to Minidisc in time! Phew!
More FE lenses? No way!
We need an A-Mount FF roadmap, not more NEX lenses.
An uninformed comment – there already is a fairly full line of A-mount lenses and almost nothing for full-frame E-mount.
yep
What else is needed for Amount??
I don’t get all the wining… they have 24 70, 16 35, 24, 50, 85, 135.
what else do you need???
This have been written lots of times on this forum
All top lenses need to be updated with SSM and WR (it’s a shame that an >$2000 lens doesn’t have those). So far, only the 16-50 for APS-C has WR, and 85 and 135 super-duper Zeisses don’t even have SSM.
After that, a decent line of f/4 lenses is a must, like 17-40 f/4, 24-105 f/4, 70-200 f/4.
That’s what I personally would like to see, elsewhere in the comments people with more specific professional needs requested also other lenses like ultra wide-angle and macro and tilt-shift and some others.
Just look at the Canon’s L line-up. To compete with the big two, Sony needs all of that.
…And THEN it can play with E-Mount and QX and watch-cameras or whatever.
Wont happen as no matter what Sony does in the DSLR market, they’ll be automatically beaten by CaNikon and the growth is in the mirrorless market, so it’ll make sense for Sony to prioritize the native lens choice for E Mount. A Mount lenses will receive updates but the priority right now will likely be E mount
+ all the above
Growth was in mirrorless because it was a new product category. Classic textbook product lifecycle. However, it is showing rapid maturing with stagnant growth except possibly Asia where it seems to be preferred or at least at parity with DSLRs.
Sony is big on it because they lack any vision in photography and have no system commitment. They thought they could leverage their consumer electronic strengths to fix Minolta but are clueless how to market camera systems which is different than cell phones and TVs.
Unable to compete head-on with Canikon they’re dribbling niche products where Canikon isn’t focused – for now.
I’m sorry, but I doubt they have any lack of vision. Cause they wont be cameras like the RX series, A7/r/s if they are indeed lack of vision. I would probably agree with you during the early years of NEX, but it seems Sony finally start to figure things out.
If you’re talking about lack of vision, as of now it’ll be CaNikon. Sony, Olympus, Panasonic and Fuji has been continuously pushing in the innovation department for the past few years.
I’m okay with your opinion regarding mirrorless vs DSLR, but in my books, eventually mirrorless will reign and DSLR will fall into niche market (journalism, sports). The next question would be is, how much will Lytro like camera disrupt the market after this.
It seems to me that it’d be a bad move on Sony’s part to try to compete with Canikon on their own turf. While the A mount is a decent system, many Canikon users are far to entrenched to ever switch, no matter how good the system is. Mirrorless, however, has way less entrenched competition, and Sony’s mirrorless cameras could stand to take a large portion of the non-m43 market and provide a decent alternative to the same old Canikon fare. You can dismiss mirrorless all you want, but it’s the only way Sony’s going to make a dent in the market, and the place where they can provide their most competitive products. With that in mind, it wouldn’t make practical sense for Sony to focus on A mount (when the lens lineup there is relatively well fleshed out, minus a few specialty lenses) to the detriment of FE mount, when they don’t stand to take a large enough share of the market for that to make sense.
Sony have the competitive edge with their amazing SLT tech. I sold my Canon camera and got a Sony because of that. Surely I’m not alone in this.
When I think about switching to Canikon… no swivel screen on FF cameras, no fast AF in video, no EVF etc. etc. If Sony made a positive statement about A-Mount, I wouldn’t think a second about this.
All A-Mount’s drawbacks (WR, AF etc.) can be easily fixed by Sony. That would be enough to keep former Minolta users happy and win new customers over from Canikon.
At list A mount have Top lenses, and they are really the top. Super top.
24, 50, 85 & 135 are top top quality, no competition from Canikon.
F4? nice to have, this is not a must. took nikon years to bring F4 line.
A decent 35mm and a 100mm macro for starters… Not that I disagree – the FE line up is pretty pathetic so far. A slow 35mm (at least if it had OSS there’d be some attraction), 2 zooms with at best average performance and the 55/1.8 (which is a great performer but could really do with oss).
Don’t be an idiot, buy yourself a Sigma 35: It is highly unlikely the Sony will be a better lens (e.g. compare new crappy «CZ» 50 vs new Sigma 50 Art), but it will be more expensive for sure. In about two times.
how about a decent F4 range that people can afford?
That is nice to have but not a must.
Quit being a muppet. A-mount is dead remember. E-mount FF is where it’s at now.
So, all Sony users are just supposed to switch over to Nikon now?
Seems awfully stupid of Sony to lose customers this way…
I think A-mount have enough range already, I’m happy with 35 Sigma, cheap 85 2.8, 138 2.8 STF and going for 50 sigma, if sony want they only need to revamped more minolta lenses. What I want only fast 85 and 135 for e-mount.
Haven’t you noticed?
Sony just gives a shit about existing customers, they look for new customers that either are new to photography or currently use competing brands.
They have failed to grab a meaningful market share from Nikon and Canon in the DSLR-segment. They tried with SLT that did not suceed, so they drop this and focus their effort on mirrorless.
Sony is an electronic company and that is why we see solutions with optically flawed lenses and in-camera electronic correction, like E PZ 16-50 and E PZ 18-105/4 G.
You might think it is stupid, but I do not think Sony sees it that way. Yes, they loose some existing customers to Nikon, but it is worth it.
So suddenly all your existing A-mount lenses don’t work anymore so you have to switch to Canon or Nikon?
I’m holding onto slim hope but with the a77II upgrade looking pathetic and no encouragement on the a-mount FF front, I’ve started following Nikon Rumors too. I’ll give Sony until end of 2015 to get their act together.
Not quite. FE is the flavor of the week. Sony’s pitching expensive FF glass. Since e-mount APS-C is clearly targeting a consumer-grade segment, I’m already seeing a dramatic fall in Sony interest in that cheaper system as it drops to 2nd class citizenship.
The #1 consumer of compact cameras is Asian women. Hence, the NEX/axxxx well-deserved soccer mom reputation. There isn’t a huge demand for lenses with that crowd. Sony is turning into a niche camera maker with a7x becoming their premium pro line. If you’ve got the cash, they’ll sell you the Zeiss for your budget a6000!
It would be great if they would intro the next two FE lenses but I am doubtful that it will happen before July 1. This graphic clearly shows the next two lenses right at mid year which would be July 1. It is unlike Sony to announce something before the roadmap says, at least that’s been the record so far. If anything they have cheated a little bit the other way, showing an announcement slightly before it actually happened. But I am hopeful as I would really like to get a wide zoom for the a7 system.
Important note: at the bottom of that official Sony slide it says that these are ‘estimated SHIP dates’ which means they would likely be announced earlier.
For me the a7s might be a good camera to have for low lght..but since resolution is my priority I would not pay a lot for it since it would not be my primary camera.
I still have the very slimmest of a hope that a7II might be a worthy upgrade…but very little hope of that.
The a77 is a great camera and a77II would be a good purchase for sure for those that do not already own one.
That sensor would be fantastic in an RX1 update….screw the 4K just 1080 and awesome hi ISO and fast FPS with decent buffer……..not for sport but for street
Why would you prefer to see it in a fixed lens camera rather tha A mount or E mount?
R1S, not a bad idea… If they come up with a Wide Angle adapter to make it a 28mm
“The a77 is a great camera and a77II would be a good purchase for sure for those that do not already own one.”
Until you know the specs of the camera and requirements of any particular photographer, you cannot say this. But you keep on doing so ad infinitum…
The fact that I do say this proves that I CAN SAY THIS whether you want me to or not.
And you cant stop me as the fact I am saying this also proves.
You cannot shut anyone up put you can and will subject everyone to youre constant insistent DONT SAY THAT babble AD INFINITUM…
I quess you preffer to direct conversations to your abortive sensorship attemps rather than to the comments.
It seems to be working pretty well as for every sar comment theres at least 5 dont say that dont do that idi0!? like you….
I am the one in control here and you have no choice..you must read this comment.
You also have to answer my comments..YOU HAVE NO CHOICE!
Okaaaaayy…
I will rephrase seeing as you’re insisting on being pedantic.
Suggesting that the A77II is not a good purchase for those who already own the A77 is unfounded, as you do not know its specs.
Is that better, Walter?
Indeed, see my comment. The A77II might be an interesting upgrade for me for the reasons I mention. I’ll add that Auto ISO in manual would be nice too.
Lotus got Faced by Animal! Too funny.
By now, per Sony’s marketing pattern, they have leaked all the a77II’s specs 2 days prior to announcement. Every leaked roadmap for the a-mount line appears to be bs so in the ‘year of the a-mount’ the a77II ‘upgrade’ for their ‘pro’ line appears to be bringing a few specs to parity with the consumer-grade budget a6000.
“The a77 is a great camera and a77II would be a good purchase for sure for those that do not already own one.”
If the A77II gives me a better sensor and EVF with the hybrid AF that works with my SSM lenses and the focus range limiter off the A99 thrown in, then I’d disagree with that statement.
If the upgrades on this camera are important enough to you to warrent an upgrade then I completely agree with you and you should do so.
It will be at least as good as the old a77 and therefore is certain to be a good investment.
If the upgrades to this camera prove to be more substantial than current rumors indicate then I will revise my assessment and be rite on line with you to be the first to own one.
So, the zeiss will be a 85 oder 90 2.0/2.8, right? Because that’s missing if you ask me. Could also be a 135, but I doubt that.
could be. by ‘large aperture prime’ i was hoping for f1.4. surely there is room for a 35mm f1.4.
or current 35 f2.8 + new 85 f1.4 would be a good combo
To build their lens lineup I don’t think they will duplicate another length. First, they should close the gaps in their lineup, thats why I think the lenses will be longer. And they won’t be extremely fast, because that wouldn’t be consistent with the other lenses that are already there.
14-24/4 and a 100/2 for me, please!
Definitely prefer a 14-24 over a 16-35mm.
Especially if it’s going to be a f/4 lens.
Yep, that would do me fine.
28mm f1.4 and 16-35 f4 would be perfect
oh that would be my dream set. the 28 FOV is extremely under rated imho.
I find so less ppl like you and me who have a thing for the 28mm and as of now I haven’t entered the mirror less full frame game only because I can’t find a fast 28mm with AF on any system RX or A7…
Since I take most of my photos on this FOV I hope that it will change soon…
Even canon and nikon (except that extremely costly and old model from nikon) haven’t come up with a pro/L version of the 28mm fast prime…
At least give us a Wide Angle adapter to put on that RX1… Like fuji did for their x100
Nikon’s 28G is pretty good, it’s the only reason I still keep that system. I would love to see a 28/1.4FE…
Is there even an APS-C E-mount roadmap (I cannot find one) or is Sony only going to release FE lenses from now on? Would be odd considering the A6000 release, but stranger things have happened.
It looks like APS-C mirrorless are getting the same treatment as a-mounts: 2nd class citizenship. Sony, unlike Canikon, is a niche-based electronics conglomerate so they market cameras like they do cellphones and TVs.
Admin, do you have an SR3 on what these lenses could be?
Is it an FE 85mm f/1.8 and an FE 16-35mm f/4
I have a feeling that you are right on this! it would make sense….fill out all the focal lengths as soon as possible 16-35, 24-70 35, 55, 85, 70-200, (250 mirror lens, forget it, it’s APS-C)
(still missing a macro 100mm)
You said in March that there were “new Full Frame E-mount cameras within the next 5-6 months… with advanced hybrid AF system similar to … Sony A6000.”
Any news on this? Not much point getting an A7 at the moment since hearing this news, even if they won’t cannibalise each other (can’t see how they wouldn’t).
If the price is below $1500 I’ll get the new one with better AF, but having to wait till then September?) to make that decision is difficult.
I can’t imagine the “new” model will be below $1500—at least not for months after it’s release. IF it is an upgrade of the A7 then it might start at the same price point, $1700. But more likely it is a new, higher-end model designed for sports/action shooting in which case it will be much, much more.
That sounds logical. Would it be a new sensor if it has to incorporate an A6000 type AF, I wonder…
The A7 already has similar af to the a6000. Same points across a similar area.
It’s nowhere near as fast though. The A6000 can compete with X-T1 and E-M1, the A7 definitely cannot.
for me I’m only interested in the UWA zoom…..hopefully it will be announced…..I’m ok with either 12-24 or 16-35 tho I have a hunch it’s more likely the 16-35

My current prediction based on the latest rumors of “discontinued” e-mount lenses:
Wide angle: 12-24mm f/4.0 (this might even replace the APS-C model since, while not quiet as wide, is still very useful/wide on crop frame cameras. Sony also doesn’t have a zoom this wide and it plays the strengths of the FE system.)
Fast aperture: 24mm f/1.8 (hate it all you want but in FE land f/1.8 is fast. Obviously replace the current 24mm lens which is looking a bit more overpriced compared to Fuji’s recent 23mm f1.4. However make the lens FE compatible and suddenly you can charge more and till have better “value”)
G Macro: 90mm f/2.8 (ironically this will probably be a Sonnar design like the FE 35mm & 55mm because the underrated SAL 85mm f/2.8 is too. Sony will use the Macro capabilities to justify the slow(ish) aperture but aperture will also keep the lens light and compact)
If a 90mm f/2.8 is a genuine 1:1 macro, then there will be no need to justify the slow aperture. It is par for the course.
Anyway, according to the roadmap the G Macro isn’t due yet.
True it isn’t due yet. I was just throwing out my predictions for the whole 2014 announcements. I think they all fit together as part of Sony’s overall plan.
Sony’s pattern is slow and expensive which makes perfect sense as they abandon being a system producer and move into profitable niches solely.
E-mount APS-C will be their budget consumer grade line where they only have to compete with weak also-rans like Olympus and Fuji. They’ll offer some basic lenses since this market isn’t so much into lenses.
FE will be their serious line. It’ll be low volume, high price pitching expensive Zeiss glass. It’s a niche Sony owns for now so they can get away with it.
Since the mirrorless market is all about compactness and lightweight don’t expect fast lenses or long glass telephotos.
24 is wide enough, and we already have enough manual lenses to adapt.
We need 85 1.8 and 135 2. No need in ultra ugly lenses.
24mm is everything but wide enough. Who is “we” ? You and yourself ? Certainly not landscape photographer.
I asked this of another FE self- appointed SAR forum representative the other day. Apparently, “we” = professional photographers who do “serious” work. At some they all got together to decide such things, and neither you or I were invited.
Just be aware, although they are professional and produce “serious work”, if you ask them to show their work or produce a link to it – you will probably be met with silence, a change of subject or an insult.
Give us a link, please do.
Pretty sure Christopher is agreeing with you, seeing as how he uses an A7R and adapted canon lens. His point is that, as an employed photographer, there are many solutions that will get the job done (in lieu of complaining on a rumours site about how a particular system doesn’t work for “professionals”).
Edit: Agreeing with you in regards to needing sony to supply every last lens that will make every single user 100% happy. Not agreeing with you on what is or isn’t wide enough.
Well, all I said I that 24 is wide enough. Off course I am talking in the name of myself, who else?
I am a normal lens photographer, and maybe short tele sometimes.
For me, even the 55 1.8 is a reason to get the a7r.
I sold my D800E and most of the Nikon lenses after 2 weeks with a7r.
After all, I am not a professional photographer, I do art, I need print quality. For professional photograph, get an A mount or a Nikon.
I shoot PR & press photos most days a week (not with an a7r). I must use a 16-35 with AF to get certain shots I need every day. So, 24 would not be wide enough for me (I need the 16 to 20mm range). But my specific use case is fairly irrelevant.
Sony is producing the most popular lenses first and this approach makes sense to satisfy as many people in as short amount of time. I would imagine that a 16 – 35-ish range is the next most popular (based on their own sales figures for a-mount) and then 85mm is probably after that. A 135mm prime is probably a bit more niche after those two lenses. Although, I personally want to eventually purchase the 135mm STF a-mount lens.
135 SFT is nice, but 135 1.8 is better , and with AF 🙂

Yes links to your incredible work please.
Answered above
Sure! I provided links that day. We were discussing interior photography, so I posted the following link. You’re more than welcome to view my photos (whether they are incredible, amazing or some other subjective adjective, I cannot say – I can say that they were paid for and used successfully by my client though).
Conducted with a Sony a7r + Canon 17mm TSE & 24mm TSE lenses:
http://www.christophergalluzzo.com/Gva/Armonk-Residence/Armonk-Proofs/n-x8NdX/
My Avatar used to link to my work, prior to the switch to discus, but no longer does. What is the point of taking photos if I am the only one who will ever view them?
Gorgon & Adys – will you share yours?
So if you have a7r, do you think you will have an FE with TS?
Not a chance.
Do you think you will have a wide lens that can produce same result on the a7r sensor? not a chance #2.
Sure, take a link, not fully updated but this is what I do.
http://www.adyshimony.com/
“do you think you will have an FE with TS? ”
No – neither Minolta nor Sony have produced any TS lenses that I am aware of. I don’t expect Sony to invest in producing specialty optics for a or e-mount. The a7r is superior to Canon’s options for their tilt-shift lenses however. I used to use a 5d2 for interiors.
“Do you think you will have a wide lens that can produce same result on the a7r sensor?”
If you mean the same result as a perspective control lens, then the 1st question answers the second – no because I do not expect Sony to release a TS lens.
“Sure, take a link
Thanks for sharing. Those that share their work are often much more reasonable to have a photography discussion with, in my experience.
You are welcome 🙂
And why a landscape photographer needs a AF lens?
Get a leica or voightlander lens, whey do you need an FE?
Most of the wide angle M-mount lenses (Leicas, Zeiss, Voigtlander) are not designed for digital sensors (which have glass filters stacked onto them), which results in pretty poor image quality.
I have a bad feeling we get a 85mm 2.8 instead… because size matters… :’D
That’s what she said… 😉
The 2 lenses will be 16-35mm and 85mm.
hope we can get FE 25mm/F1.4
Why is it so hard to find more than a line or two at a time about A-mount (only days before a new release) which is occurring halfway through the “Year of the A-mount”? Our 2nd class citizenship has been downgraded to illegal alien, and sliding further down the pole every day.
Where’s the rumored professional support services? How about some weathersealing on your uber-expensive lenses so I can actually USE them outdoors? Thanks for the semi-standard hotshoe which has ZERO third party support (a few cheapie dumb triggers don’t count). I especially like having to lug around two $750 flashes so I can continually swap them out when they overheat.
If A mount was supposed to be the “professional” offering, we’re screwed.
We may soon find out that A mount has been moved to the “terrorist” list I’m afraid.
Sony is getting better at keeping secrets. We knew of the A7s, what 1 day in advance or was it 2?. Sony may have started to crack down on the test photographers, so they are less likely to talk.
Since Sony is abandoning a system approach to photography there’s no roadmap to share or any coherent strategy to offer. They’ll keep dribbling out niche products and try to keep competitors at bay by keeping mum on which small market segments they’re considering.
Whatever happened to new FF Alpha systems? Please excuse my ignorance; I’ve been away from this forum for several months. When I was last here there was all this buzz about a new direction and commitment to the FF Alpha line http://www.sonyalpharumors.com/new-alpha-line-goal-is-to-outshine-canon-and-nikon-in-early-2014/). However, all that I seem to hear about is more E-mount lenses and cameras. Don’t get me wrong, I think the new 7s seems great and the new A77II is good too, but my interests is in the FF A-mount side of things. I thought Sony was developing some new FF Alpha cameras that was going to set the whole photography world on fire. Can we get some sort of update on this? I am a little lost on where we stand.
I don’t think we’ll be seeing an A-mount full frame this year. Sony are busily pushing out FE bodies and lenses.
You are probably right, Being an owner of an A99 and A7, I would dump my A99, yet on the other hand I don’t think we will ever see and F2.8 zooms for FE, just to big and although I could live with F4 zooms, when I tried the 24-70/4 on my A7, I was not at all impressed with the results. I am keeping my fingers crossed that the new 70-200/4 FE performs better. If so then I will purchase 70-200/4 FE lens and use that with my A7 and use my 24-70/2.8 on my A99. Sound like the A99 will be around for a while with no replacement any time soon.
I’m starting to think the same way. Nothing about it for a long time and every indication Sony is scaling back their a-mount plans in between.
Nikon keeps looking better and better. See how the d7200 pans out now that Sony’s a77II looks like a yawner.
The A7 models are the Alpha FF cameras. Remember, Sony use the Alpha brand for all their system cameras, and even collectively refer to their two mounts as the Alpha mount.
Thanks for the clarification AlphaGuy. But as someone who has grown with the A-mount (A100, A700, A900), I am trying to figure out whatever happened to the all the new FF A-mount cameras that was being promised last year? The A7 models are all E-mounts. FF yes. Great yes. But my investments is the A-mount. I seem to recall that there was all this talk about the A-mount not being dead and how we should wait until 2014 to see all the revolutionary things Sony has been developing. Well, its 2014 and still no sign or rumor about new A-mounts. What happened? And please understand, I love my Sony camera’s and lenses, but I am at a point where I need to determine how am I going to go forward. Do i continue to invest in new Sony lenses and equipment or do I jump ship to another brand with more developed product lines?
I think Sony sense market looks for compact FF interchangeable lenses camera. they focus on Nex7 until the recently A7 series. I think now they are back to A mount soon
Mark my words – not buying any new a-mount camera until Sony becomes serious about lenses. They claim they are converting the A-moutn to a professional line of cameras, but only new lens is a refresh of a kit lens…. Go figure…
The only ones making this claim are rumor sites! Besides, over the last couple years there have been next to no consumer lenses for A-Mount and all refreshes of big expensive telephotos.
But let’s take A-Mount’s new lenses since the A77 2 years ago:
16-50mm f2.8 SSM
18-55mm DT II
18-135mm DT
55-300mm DT
50mm f1.4 Zeiss
500mm f4 G
70-200mm f2.8 G II
70-400mm G II
For E-Mount since the NEX-7 (released same time)
20mm f2.8
35mm f1.8
16-50mm PZ
18-200mm PZ (variant)
16-70mm f4 Zeiss
18-105mm f4 G
35mm Zeiss FE
55mm Zeiss FE
24-70mm Zeiss FE
28-70mm Zeiss FE
70-200mm Zeiss FE
Yes there has been a flurry of extra E Mount’s in the last year (mostly as they launched a new format AND had / have a lot of holes to fill) but the number of new A-Mounts isn’t horrible either, especially for an established system.
You are not serious, are you? From the A mount lenses you mentioned – the 18-55mm DTII is a refresh of a poor performing lens, so hardly anything to write back home. Same applies for the 55-300mm DT which is a tick better performer.
Then we have the 70-200G which is basically an overpriced refresh of the old Minolta optical design. The 70-400G II is an update to the old 70400G and again is the same optical formula as its predecessor, with an improoved AF speed and added nano coating. But its a much better update than the 70200G – point taken. The 500G is as per Sonys track record yet another totally overpriced lens, with a 15 000 USD price tag – for which you could get the Nikon D800E + the equivalent Nikon 500mm f4 lens and still would be left with about 5 grand left. The only two noteworthy lenses are the Zeiss 50 f1.4 and the 16-50mm f2.8. The latter one however is not so old to need a refresh… yet we get it.
On the other side, we have huuuuuuge holes in the lineup, which thankfully are covered by the old Minolta legacy glass – examples of what is needed:
200mm f4 Macro
400mm f4,5
300mm f4
200mm f2,8
70-200 f4
24-105 f4
how about some tilt shift lenses or UWA?
Canon has since 2010 released 19 lenses, many are updates to previously existing lenses, but most of them feature an improoved optical formula. In the same time Nikon released 23 new lenses. Sony has the smallest lineup, yet releases way less lenses than the competing mounts. And this will always be the limiting factor until things change. Oh, yes, and the Sony flash system, which has only been invented in order tu punish the photographers.
Well, 2 more days till we know if the A-mount future gets any brighter, but I highly doubt it. I love my A77, but the lens choice is a major limiting factor.
And? Sorry I tuned out. Did you say something important? So what you are telling me is new and refreshed lenses aren’t new and refreshed lenses? Canon and Nikon also sell old, crap lenses and people still buy them. They may have brought out more lenses, though since 2010 is a longer time.frame then I mentioned. They have a LOT of double ups in their line up.
But I agree, if you want very specialty lenses, Sony isn’t the brand for you. Better to move now then wait to be honest.
I had a Canon 6D for the last 12 months, do you think they have good WA lenses? Nope. Well unless you want to drop BIG $$$$’s on a 17mm TS/E MF lens (which I could just as easily use on an A7R with better results).
Guess what!? Each system has different pros and cons, none are perfect, so don’t go thinking the grass is always so much greener, because it ain’t. But if it Is in your particular area of interest, go right on ahead, stop beating yourself up and move. There is no need for loyalty in this game.
The main issue is Canikon are at their very core photography companies who have to be very adept at catering to a very broad range of photographers from beginner to pro.
Sony is a consumer electronics conglomerate nearly bankrupt from poor management which bought Minolta’s ailing DSLR business and thought slapping the “Sony” brand on them and taking a whack or 2 with their engineering talent would be magic. No strategy. No vision.
So you start with an inept marketing department and some smart engineers take over saying we’ll innovate in mirrorless because we’re too incompetent to compete with serious players Canikon. Things take off and e-mount fanboys extrapolate the death of the DSLR.
Reminds me of domestic U.S. automakers too incompetent to handle the Japanese car invasion so they decided to build crap fleet cars and concentrate on trucks where there was no competition. Worked great until the Japanese moved to large trucks.
Sony looks great going all compact with their piecemeal lack of vision until Canikon takes mirrorless seriously and eats Sony’s lunch.
Fundamentally Sony marketing is incompetent and running away from Canikon won’t mask that for long.
As I’ve said elsewhere, even though the Nikon 1 system isn’t serious (out of fear of cannibalizing DSLRs) at least it demonstrates a coherent systems approach completely lost on Sony.
“”until Canikon takes mirrorless seriously and eats Sony’s lunch””
Haha, that will never happen. Even less in the compact competition. The Canon G1X MK2 cannot even beat RX100 M2 in image quality. And the same old fashion 30fps in video…. That is LOLable.
You have got to be kidding! Both Nikon and Canon have completely botched their mirrorless setups, too afraid to compete with their own products, Canon have run away with their tails between their legs and Nikon have just thrown their hands up in the air in despair. Neither are doing well on this front, not even close but neither can abandon the system, as this is VERY bad for image and potentially big nails in their coffins. They both could have come out with interesting products, but they are seriously screwed at the moment and every year that ticks away of them.tinkering with the idea but not putting their weight behind it, means more years they have to catch up on. Do you really think that ANY of the big companies would have survived in an AF era if they just kept pretending that MF was the way to go and 6+ years on they still pretend the shift isn’t happening? What about digital? If a company thought that film would continue to last forever and no professional would ever jump to digital, therefore we’ll stick to film…. yeah they’d totally be killing it today 😉
You do realize that there’s no such thing as a Sony camera or lens, don’t you? It’s just a brand name used by Nikon in order to make people believe that they aren’t supporting them, and to get a larger market share than Canon. Sony lets Nikon use the brand name in exchange for steppers that Nikon supplies to Sony. This means that anything can happen to both the A- and E-mount, since Nikon already has the F-mount.
Perhaps its the other way around.
Mayby Nikon is really a Sony camera but Sony does not want anyone to realize how big they really are….mayby Canon is really a Sony camera too…you never know.
It’s a tin foil hat convention!
I knew we would be having this conversation again soon
Lotus Eater my pathetic little stalker is as always absolutely obsessed with following me around and insulting me so I will return the favor.
I will only respond to you when you respond to my comments or directly addresses me.

There are a lot of people out there who think you’d make a good stand-in for a cuckoo clock. It’s not just Lotus.
Lotus, +1
Calm down, Walter.
You don’t do light-hearted, do you? I bet your parties are awesome.
Walter Mitty? LOL!
Like it.
Right on que as predicted for Lotus Eater the stalker/ troll.
Must think you are very entertaining..perhaps you would like to give everyone an encore.
Right on que as predicted for Cuckoo Clock Barry, the resident nutcase/schizophrenic. Must think people give a damn about what you say, cause you keep saying it over…and over…and over…and over…and over…and over…and over…and over…and over……….zzzzzZZZZZZZ
You can join the cult.
I make only one response per comment but if you want to repeat the comment than I will repeat the response.

Nikon does use Sony sensors.

Sony
No. of Employees: 146,300

You do realize:
– Sony has been making cameras & lenses for decades (they are a leader in video production)
– Sony purchased Minolta still camera IP which forms the basis of the a-mount system
Yes, Sony is a huge company, and one of the leaders in the video camera market, I know. But the stills cameras and lenses are made by Nikon using the Sony brand. It was really Nikon who bought the Konica Minolta camera division, but they don’t want anyone to know that. Nikon and Sony have played us like fools.
LOL. Good one.
That certainly fails the Occam’s razor test.
Why would Nikon need to buy minolta?
To get another lens mount, so they could pose as a different manufacturer, thereby getting a larger market share than Canon, without Canon suspecting a thing.
Is Nikon owned by illuminati?
Of course they are.
YES! YES! And not only that, but Canon actually owns Nikon, and Walmart owns Canon, and…get this…Olympus owns Walmart!! Who owns Olympus? The Chinese Government. Who owns the Chinese Govt? Ricoh!!!
Now you’re just making things up. Please stick to the truth.
LOL

Do not see Nikon simply that way, it is part of the Mitsubishi empire which is far bigger than Sony.
Still hoping for more APS-C E-mount lenses. If Sony can make 10+ FE lenses a year, you would think they could make few APS-C lenses as well.
All FE mount lenses are also APS-C lenses….
???
All FE mount lenses are approx. 2x as expensive as E mount lenses and about 1.5x as large.
So yes, there exists a reason to buy APS-C lenses instead of FF lenses.
+1 for new E-mount lenses, but I strongly doubt that. Sony will push FE for a while.
Congratulations! You just stumbled upon Sony’s marketing strategy. :^)
It’s kind of funny how you don’t really see a huge clamor for APS-C lenses from owners of Canon/Nikon APS-C cameras. I mean, when I got started in photography just a couple of years ago, the commonly accepted advice was that APS-C camera owners should avoid APS-C lenses if they can get a full frame lens instead, just in case they upgrade to full frame. It’s funny how no one seems to be repeating that advice to Sony E-mount users.
Actually, one of the most common complaints from Nikon users is that Nikon doesn’t care about the DX lens line-up. There are many missing lenses, primes especially, and buying FX lenses doesn’t always give you the focal lengths you need.
So in other words, the grass isnt greener on the other side?
Wouldnt it be something to jump ship to Nikon only to be pissed off there too?
Sony Pros – Innovative, Forward Thinking, High Quality, Optimistic Company Leadership
Sony Cons – Small Lens Lineup, Lack of Communication, Uncertain System Support (Worrisome Longterm Stability)
Nikon Pros – Larger System, High Quality, Feature Rich
Nikon Cons – Quality Control Issues, Lack of Innovation, Poor Support & Ignoring Problems, Outwardly Pessimistic Company Leadership, Lack of Understanding of Changing Market Demands (Worrisome Longterm Stability)
Canon Pros – Huge System, High Quality, Feature Rich, Good Pro Support
Canon Cons – Stagnant Innovation, Technology Falling Behind Competition, Lack of Understanding of Changing Market Demands (Worrisome Longterm Stability)
I think those who complain, complain for the sake of complaining. Nothing is perfect.
all depends what you understand by nothing, it does not exists, since even where you see nothing, there is something.
That was DSLR, where size doesn’t really matter.
Mirrorless exists specifically to produce more compact cameras, so E-Mount crop has its advantages over FE (unlike crop and FF DSLR).
I agree
It is often safer to put ff lenses on c just in case.
Particularly with long lenses.
Very few long lenses are made for C possibly for that reason, as well as the fact that there may not be much of a quality difference.
Good point, aps-c lenses are really only necessary for a wide field of view without the crop factor.
Many NEX & FE users on here tend to regard FE as a different system rather than being complementary.
That’s because E-Mount users on here don’t want to spend more than $50 on a lens, if it isn’t $50, it’s ‘too big’, ‘too slow’, ‘FF and they don’t need FF’, ‘too expensive for what it is’ etc. People who actually buy stuff don’t sit around here wishing for things that won’t come to pass.
If I was an aps-c e-mount user, I would be very pleased with the 55mm 1.8 as a great 85mm FOV lens (-2.5mm).
Maybe the reason is that E-mount is an entirely different system. People buy into the system because they like lightweight cameras. FE lenses are quite a bit larger and as such reduce mobility of the camera.
While I could imagine to upgrade to FF one day, I would only do so if there would be a FE camera with size <= NEX7. But even with a FF sensor, I would still use my current E-mount lenses whenever I want to carry a pocketable camera.
For SLR's these arguments don't really count. If I'm willing to carry a FF SLR monster, the size and weight differences between APS-C and FF lenses don't really matter any more.
Where’s the 28-135mm f4 in this roadmap?, next year?
maybe the surprise is : A7s for 1000USD
Maybe the surprise is that the A7s will have a soft serve ice cream dispenser built in.
But will it produce the ice cream internally or is a separate attachment necessary?
It’ll produce the ice-cream internally, but there is no storage, so an add-on refrigerator will be required.
This is the correct answer 😉
No, that’s the follow on A7ss
Even if it is 1000 less than the rumored price, GH4 will still be a better video camera overall.
Really? A camera that can’t take XLR mics without being tethered to power on its $2.5k brick? Cheap 4K recording to SD card does not a professional video camera make.
Does it really matter if we get the news on FE lenses april 28 or 30th?? Let’s skip rumors and go for facts. A day or two …….
Don’t you folks think that it is VERY possible that the last 3 lenses in this roadmap are all a-mount lenses? They do not have any FE designation like the ones above them, and no OSS designation either. That might be a very, very nice and welcomed surprise!
Why would A-mount lenses appear on an E-mount lens roadmap?
Nothing in the image itself tells me that this is an FE-only roadmap. I’m thinking of it as “Lenses for the Alpha system”, which includes both mounts. The image seems to be a crop so you might very well be right that this is only for e-mount, but based on the facts I see on this page, I can’t make that claim.
Yep, that’s an FE roadmap. Of course that doesn’t mean to say that any lenses to be announced imminently are FE or exclusively FE. Announcements for both mounts would be nice.
No. This is a crop of the FE road map. A quick Google search would have confirmed this for you. smh
Sony A7s price is $2,199 USD according to my supplier.
– Matt K, B&A Photo Video
B&A Photo Video, huh? Cool.
If it was T&A I’d be tempted.
Sony just provided us with the final A7s price.
It will be $1,699 USD.
John M., Adorana Camera Store
my many sources have confirmed the price will be $139.99 USD and with lens set.
– Bob J,. RLR Industries inc.
Sounds like you’ve got Chinese counterfeit goods…
Do you sell on Ebay, by chance? 😉
LoL
you guys are damm funny 🙂 these prices however does not look funnies 🙂
WOW a 16-35/4 and a 85/1.8.
Andrea, not to spoil the party but you indicated at least 3 lenses are to be refreshed with minor updates – 16-50/2.8 for A mount, 20/2.8 and 16-70/4
Is there really room for two more brand new lenses?
Sony should make something like the Pentax Q, only with a much larger sensor.
I agree
So like an a5000 then?
Or an RX100 MkIII with larger sensor, smaller, EVF and more useful lens for the small sensor?
Honestly, I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many weird comments as on this site. It’s not just the usual fanboyism and trolling that you get everywhere, but also some truly bizarre posts. It’s like the lunatic asylum is having a field day or something.
Come on! A little perspective people, seriously!
All the complaints that A-Mount is dead is nonsense. Complaints of no A99 replacement!? Seriously!? Complaints about the A77 II, what exactly WERE you expecting? The A77 was a ground breaking camera that most other manufacturers are barely catching up on, yet a refresh nobody really knows that much about, but appears at least to be a decent improvement on the already very good camera, fixing the only minor flaws in it, but supposedly a bad thing? Remember how long we waited for an A700 replacement? Nikon users are STILL waiting for a D300S replacement, Canon users STILL waiting on a 7D replacement.
A99 isn’t even as old as the A77, it is not ready for replacement.
How about lenses? Well they have had at least 8 A-Mounts that I can think of since the A77, which isn’t bad at all, especially considering it is an established system. Most of those have been outstanding lenses in their category. Not only that, but the brilliant 3rd party lenses also released in that time.
Yes there have been more E-Mount stuff lately, but the sky isn’t falling, they have brought out a whole new format within a system and have to scrabble quickly to support it with lenses, for A-Mount, not so much. Yes a couple lenses could do with a refresh, such as SSM update to 85/135 Zeiss, updates to 50/100 Macros and Updated 20mm. Plus a Zeiss 35. The majority of these are small mechanical updates as they are still right up there (except the 20mm, but Nikon and Canon equiv are equally old). Canon still sell heaps of old lenses such as 20mm f2.8, 50mm Macro, 50mm f1.8, 85mm f1.8, 100mm f2 etc are all really old lenses.
Seems to me, every time ANY manufacturer brings out a new product it is supposedly the ‘end of A-Mount’, like that product ‘should have been an A-Mount’. Get over it, it is purely a grass is always greener type of deal. A-Mount is a very good system with excellent glass and groundbreaking bodies. It has excellent compatibility with the new mount to bring all that glass investment into the future when eventually the mount IS replaced (it will happen one day, a fair way down the track).
I’m tired of the complaints, I think we should think.ourselves lucky that a new semi pro crop camera is being updated so quickly! I can just imagine the outpouring of negativity we would see if Sony replaced them even sooner.. and that’s just the thing, it’s always too soon while simultaneously always not being soon enough.
Looking forward to the new A77, whatever it may be.
I agree 100%
You have lost your marbles. A-mount is clearly dead, dead, dead. One camera year (58, 2013 or 77, 2014) that are just rehashes is not supporting your product line. Heck, Hasselblad puts out more product. Cant wait for them to get the A-mount line.
Dan
I should also state that E-mount is clearly dead, dead, dead. It is dead just like A-mount. They are discounting lenses and ignoring APS-C E mount. Dead, dead, dead.
i bet all you want that this A77/2 and the a5000/6000 will be the last aps-c ils system cameras they produced, as they drop all APS-C e mount lenses now and bring no new ones, this makes sense. APS-C wide angle focal length make no sense on FF and FF widest focals make no or not much sense on APS-C. The 10-18 lens has been released not so long ago and is already discontinued.
As I claimed not so long time ago, it seems better to throw all Sony material in the trash right away and step to a brand that keeps some of it’s value. It is playing with customers balls when a camera you buy 2300$ drops up to 600$ in price after 3 month after being issued. All A7 cameras bought 3 to 4 month ago have lost more than 50% of their value yet. One good reason to find another brand.
Yeah, cause Nikon and Canon are so much better.
So what brand should we find?
Please direct to a place I can buy the A7 for $850 then?
Hasselblad doesn’t put out any product. They haven’t made a camera since the 1990’s they just rebrand….
A rational breath of fresh air among all of the lunacy!
Yes, agree, for sure.
A77 groundbreaking? What are you smoking?
May 1, Sony is going to be announcing full involvement in a NEW lens mount, called L-mount.
L-mount will have a 12mm flange distance, and 42.5mm bayonet mount diameter. L-mount Cameras will be fully compatible with A-mount, E-mount, EF-mount, EF-M-mount, X-mount, F-mount, u4/3 mount, NX-mount, Nikon 1-mount, and many more (with adapter).
L-mount cameras will utilize full frame and aps-c size imaging sensors which can be dynamically parabolized (curved) to use the small and light non-aspherical L-mount lenses, or, they can be flattened to be used with legacy lenses.
E-mount development will be subsiding Q2 2014 and will follow the dissolution of A-mount development around the same time.
It may be announced by Sony, but Nikon developed it on behalf of The Sovereign Military Order of Malta.
Lol…nicely done.
Kinda scary, too…it’s not that far off…
I think this ultra-wide zoom FE will be the same as the mediocre zeiss FE 24-70, compromise IQ to size and weight, the big reason why I’m stuck with 5N.
From Sony’s perspective – if you do not care about the size and weight and only IQ then you can use the a-mount versions, which are faster and achieve high optical quality.
48 hours and not a single picture of any of the products for the release presentation? Not a single leak of the new camera, other then vague specifications. What happended to the year of the A-mount, when will we see publicity of the massive wave of Sony support for this dying mount. So if Sony releases an insignificant A77II (although we have been told no releases unless significant upgrades) would that breath life into this dead mount, or would folks start agreeing that it’s time for Sony to pass the reigns to Hasselblad? Yes, the A-mount is dead, dead, dead for Sony to be sure.
Dan
As I told you earlier, Sony is parroting the long demise of U.S. automakers. They couldn’t compete in cars during the Japanese car invasion so they concentrated on trucks and SUVs where the big Japanese automakers didn’t compete. The domestics were selling crap cars at a loss for fleet sales while stockholders advised them to get out of unprofitable cars altogether.
Then comes the Toyota Tundra, Nissan Titan, etc. forcing them to face reality and compete or go completely under.
Certainly Sony is running from DSLRs because they’re incompetent marketing a-mounts. So the conventional wisdom is DSLRs are all going away (bs IMHO) so take a leadership role in mirrorless. Except watching Sony flounder around with e-mounts would be comical if it wasn’t so sad.
DSLRs cater to a need which isn’t going away even if mirrors do. Sony is abandoning not just a mount with SLTs but a systems approach to photography. None of the compact systems out there are complete and it’s not just the immaturity of, say, the Olympus m43 system but because what the ‘kill the a-mount’ crowd misses it’s catering to a specific demographic, not all photographers.
E-mount APS-C owners are feeling abandoned. The FE is not some grand strategy envisioned from day 1 but Sony engineers (who appear to be filling the marketing void) coming out with neat tech but usually incomplete (that marketing vision thing). On the fly, FE lenses are the flavor of the month.
Until Sony engineers get enamored with their 1″ sensors and decide to play with the notion of interchangeable lenses in an RX100, invent a new CX-like mount, and decide it does teensy-tiny far better than APS-C. Hey, buy another adapter!
Yeah, Sony is like that. If you don’t mind buying stuff, dumping it on FleaBay, then buying more stuff it’s the brand for you.
Your knowledge of the auto industry is equal to your knowledge of the camera industry; you know very little about either and speak from a position of ignorance. The entire diatribe is a bunch of BS, get a life.
Dodge blows, buy a Ford!!
Right… After owning two recently released models, a ’14 Mustang and a ’12 Focus, i’d tell anyone to run away from american brands as far the eye can see. They’re only pretty on the outside, but hideous on the inside. Add Ford’s auto transmission issues to it, like the heavy knock into first a second after the car has stopped. Or locking torque converter when transmission is still below engine idle speed, and then unlocking it, cause engine begins to stall, repeating the process rapidly until engine is up to speed.
I feel like I must run back to Japanese, only problem is that they don’t make equivalents of a Mustang, as an example.
Had multiple Toyotas before, and they were all a pleasure to drive.
I was pretty much just trying to get under Dodge’s Troll skin.
I agree with you.
Ford cars in the UK are very well built and reliable. The Mustang and 12 Focus are assembled in America, there’s your problem.
I should also state that E-mount is clearly dead, dead, dead. It is dead
just like A-mount. They are discounting lenses and ignoring APS-C E
mount. Dead, dead, dead.
And BTW, this IS me saying this, the REAL Dan, not the doppelganger.
Now that’s a laugh, the real Dan has been pitching A-mounts dead, dead, dead, for a year plus. Not E-mount!
Dan
You’re not the real Dan. I am the real Dan, and I’ve been trying to pitch that A-mount and E-mount are both dead for a long time now, but whoever you are, you’re trying to ‘protect’ your little E-mount squeeker toy. E-mount is just as dead, dead, dead as A-mount is.
Yeah, not gonna trick anyone. I’m the real Dan. 48 hours and not a single picture of any rumors. A-mount is dead, dead, dead.
Where’d my Binky pacifier go? Mommy!!! The A-mount people are making my little-Danny shrink even smaller. Now it’s invisible.
LOL awesome.
I’m the real Dan, and I think the other Dan’s are right on point. They obviously know that A-mount is dead, dead, dead. We just have to accept reality, that SLT killed the line, and our fanboyism was not enough. God save the Dans. Oh, I agree A-mount is dead, dead, dead.
Dan
I agree. Clearly A-mount is dying off this year. The dan’s know what is up, it is us that are in denial. We should accept that A-mount is dying, rather continue blindly in the belief that this year is the year of the A-mount. a-mount is dead dead, dead.
Dan
I am really just a pathetic Canon fanboy.
I’m so scared of A-mount killing off Canon!>!>!>
Why Cannon, and not Nikon, or Pentax, or Fuji?
My name is Dan. You’re NOT the “real” Dan. You give Dan’s a bad name.
Wah wah wah wah wah, wah wah. Wah wah wah wah, wah, wah wah wah. Wah wah wah? Wah wah wah.
I’m not crying. I don’t own an A-mount camera to cry about, but I’m guessing you do, hence your checking out this site, and nervously waiting for the demise of the camera you love so much. Oh, yes A-mount is dead, dead, dead. But it will be ok, your love can spawn anew with any number of other mounts.
Dan
So if the a77 II is released this week and you are wrong, are you going to stop trolling here (dead, dead, blah, blah) and converse normally or go away? Honestly, no one cares if a mount is dead or not.
Of course not. Regardless, I still have to spread my “E-mount is dead, dead, dead” mantra. That’s what any loyal Canonite would do, ya know??
We all appreciate your trolling, Dan. I guess every community has someone positioned in the a$$-end of the bell curve.
Thanks.
I’m not spreading E-mount is dead. That is another Dan. I’m reporting that A-mount is dead, dead, dead. Anyway, is e-mount really in the camera arena, I mean, come on, it’s not worth my time.
Dan
Dan, pretty sure you’re brain-dead, dead, dead.
Nicholas you seem rather insecure, don’t worry if A-mount dies it will surely be bought up by Hasselblad. Then it will be expensive toys, than just cheap toys. Yep, A-mount is dead, dead, dead. But hope is still there for a new producer.
Dan
Dont matter if I’m insecure, you’re still brain-dead, dead, dead.
Don’t be a little girl niki, no one likes a crybaby. Oh, did you hear? A-mount is dead, dead, dead. Say it with me, dead, dead, dead.
Dan
Seriously, the A-mount APS-C bodies are so good that they don´t need an update. So why complain?
Good? Any body with a peice of plastic blocking the light is NOT good, just a toy.
If Canon or Nikon had EVF, i’d run like hell. But unfortunately neither do, and I can’t stand OVF.
All cameras have a piece of plastic blocking light. It’s called the optical low pass filter (or if no low pass, just a filter).
Dan = FAIL.
Oh the denial, oh the humanity. Yes, that’s what real photographers want, crap that reduces image quality. It amazes me that A-mount fanboys care about quality optics, but take no issue with putting a cheesy piece of plastic in front of their sensor, so sad. But alas, the geeky electronic fanboys should be happy with whatever gimmic Sony passes on these sad folks. Real photographers will stay with real camera equipment. Oh, and A-mount is dead, dead, dead.
Dan
And you completely ignored the facts presented.
Double FAIL
Want to try for 3 in a row?
That’s what she said before she got pregnant with you. And here you are looking for answers in public places…
Wut?
Uh….
Stretching there, arent we?
Hello everyone. My name is Dan and I’ve been a Canon user for about 10 years now. I have no photographic skill, so instead of taking pictures with my Rebel T4i and kit lens, I come to SAR to SPAM and try to incite panic. However, I’ve recently realized that no one believe me.
Regardless, I will continue to spew that A-mount is dead because I have nothing else to do.
Awesome! Whoever you are, keep it up! 🙂 Put this worthless fool in his place.
And you just keep following the fool. At least I’m getting Barry’s love, finally. I’m just wondering if I’m getting all this sugar because everyone is so insecure about the A-mount release that is due in less than 48 hours. Or is everyone coming to my side and believing that A-mount is dead, dead, dead.
Dan
The pot calling the kettle black.
Insecure? Take a look in the mirror.
And you want Barry, you’ve got him. No one’s gonna fight you for him. =)
You’re not Dan, I am!
No one cares.
Hank is hankering for some Dan sugar. Sorry, I don’t role like that, plus I’m too young.
Dan
I’m responding because you appear to be too stup1d to realize this on your own.
No one cares.
Is this a copy and paste my love?
LOL
I’m A-mount is dead, dead, dead Dan.
Dan
No one cares.
Obviously you do, you responded twice. Just so you know, I’m taken, and I’m not gay, like you. I hope you do not like little boys, that’s just weird. But, I do have a secret, just don’t tell anyone. Pssss, A-mount is dead, dead, dead.
I’m responding because you appear to be too stup1d to realize this on your own…
No one cares.
Hank loves me 🙂 jealous Barry, it only took me half a day, but I hooked me a follower. Hope I keep him. Pppssss, hank don’t tell anyone, but I heard A-mount is ….., …….., ……….
LOL
Weak.
What’s wrong with the canon rebel T4i? You seem to indicate that you could not take good pictures with it? I’ve never used one, but it bet it’s better than any SLT camera, ever, including that A99. Why would anyone buy a zeiss lens, and attach it to a body that has a cheep piece of plastic in front of it? That’s like buying a corvette, but sticking pinto engine in it. Yep, it will look like a corvette, but will not drive like one, just a pinto. Oh, and A-mount is dead, dead, dead.
Dan
Looks like I struck a nerve with Danny boy. So you are a low end Canon wannabe fanboy! The Rebel T4i is a pathetic excuse for a modern camera. It is a rehash in form and technology of many models years past, with a very low end sensor. DxO rates it at 66 sensor score, and for example, the noisy A77 is actually rated at 78. Guess what? The T5i is the SAME CAMERA! Keep sticking the same old, tired, inferior guts in the same camera and reselling it to you Canon ‘tog wannabes. LOL
BTW, Canon is working on SLT technology right now. 😉
Oh, and I actually ran out of TP so I wiped with a T4i this morning. It didn’t even do a good job at that. 🙁
ROFL… here we go… DxO heros and number worshipers who actually don’t know what the numbers mean. You must also believe in astrology and numerology.
That aside, there’s no real difference between APS-C cameras that are a few generations apart, no matter what manufacturers and DxO (that relies on finding differences to stay afloat, to any intelligent person’s surprise… not). Also there’s nothing wrong in buying a low-end T4i/T5i and equivalent A mount models as long as the person knows what they’re doing or doesn’t know what they want. It’s much better than wasting money on a 7D/A77/D9000… now those are the real crap cameras in fancy clothing.
Speaking of crap in fancy clothing…
Dan, is that you?
Nope… I’m your maker.
Mom?!?
No, I’m the toilet seat she sat on… son
It took you seven minutes to come up with THAT? LOL
Let’s hear your other failed ideas…I might be able to give you some pointers.
So you still haven’t figured out how a web browser works… but we knew that.
LOL
Fail. Geno, quit trying to be my bud. I loathe you.
Did I ever indicate that you’re worth befriending? ROFL
But I want to be your friend. So, so much…
No thanks. If you were a lens, you’d be called the Lamegon.
Us people that use real cameras, the Canon cameras, need to stick together to bring down the Sony community! Arrrrgh. This is war!
Come on – repeat after me “A-mount is dead, dead, dead”…”E-mount is dead, dead, dead.”
BTW, i’m actually the SAR_Admin, too.
Umm Canon makes most of the real lenses… Sony makes some good lenses too, sometimes. Nikon makes one of the best cameras and so does Sony. Last time I checked I had equipment from over 10 different manufacturers. You’re free to do a recount:

Well, you’re confused and you have more money than sense.
BTW, i’m also the Loch Ness Monster, and the CEO of Sigma.
How ridiculous do I have to be before you let go of my troll strings?
You’re just upset cos I say sensible things when you’re trying to troll. So you’re failed troll.
What are you guys doing here? Seriously?
Break it up, break it up…
DxO shows there’s no real difference between cameras that are few generations apart. I.e. no real progress since Sony A580, Pentax K-5, Nikon D7000.
To APS-C users there’s a difference… but ask any user of a FF camera that’s a few generations old whether they’ll settle for a modern cutting edge APS-C.
Did you know that Dan, Dodge and Animalsbybarry are all relatives?
Barry is a big proponent of a-mount.
He may repeat himself but he is certainly no troll, just eager for future sensors.
True. Perhaps he’s the redheaded step child.
Well, just came back to see that yet another thread has gone sour from troll infestation.
Guys, don’t feed the trolls! Come on!
Dan started it, so blame him.
Way to go Dan.
Please don’t stop the flamewar.
Reading this brightens my day at work immensly.
It’s nice if they announce two additional FE lenses, but really, I would prefer they ship those that are already announced first…. such as the 70-200/4 FE….
I like chocolate milk.
“Coming now?” – If they do announce these lenses, they certainly won’t be shipping until at least July or August. Just saying.
please please please be a wide angle prime or zoom… id be happy with 20-24mm or a zoom starting at 16mm.. or dare a dream bigger… 14mm??
I NEED THAT UWA ZOOM. If its any good I’ll sell all my gear and go straight to sony.
