    1. MD/MC/A/E-Mount SLT Camera to be released in 2014. The mount will be hybrid and you will be able to utilize your MC, MD, A and E Mount lenses. The camera will be a part of the launch, which will include a Sony 70-210 F4 Beercan, which is a re-engineered minolta beercan, as well as a 16-250 F2.8 Superzoom to be avaliable at launch as part of a superkit deal. The lens will be made in collaboration with Hassleblad. Will be compact and ligtweight, and yet will deliver stellar(pun intended) image quality.

      1. much as we would all love to see amazing rumours every day we must never forget that this site is entirely the work of only one person who puts in a heck of a lot of time & effort that we get for free.
If he wants to get excited about a new product & go off on a tangent for a while then that is entirely his perogative.
Perhaps the rumour mill is just very quiet at the moment – the next wave of announcements won’t be until well into the new year so I would not be suprised if there is a dearth of decent roumours going round.

But yeah – I would love a good rumour or two 😉

    2. SR1?
Mid Format fixed lens camera RX0.1 with 50mm Zeiss F0.9 and 99 Megaschnitzel self growing organic sensor and brain transfer viewfinder. Price 1000€ (dollar won’t exist any more) coming early 2025

    3. Sony is making a 50MP medium format sensor camera that is smaller than iPhone with a pan cake lens of 35MM f0.95 that will be announce early next year

    4. A99 successor to be announced in January 2014. Has no IBIS because Sony has developed a photographer stabilization system, which actually makes you stable so you don’t need lens or body ISS. They call it Photographer Enhancing Natural Image Stabilization, or PENIS. Right now, the a99 PENIS is big and heavy, but by the end of 2014, Sony is committed to develop a very small PENIS for the NEX-6 successor.

If the new A-mount cameras are coming out in early 2014 then there’s gotta be someone out there with some news.

        1. Keep up the good work and don’t worry so much about the whiners. The A7/r is an Alpha and should be fully covered on this site. This is my go to site to get the latest info about Sony cameras. Because of your great coverage I used your links to pre-order my A7r and lens. Thanks!

  1. My screen protector for the A7 just shipped. 😛

It was a surprise because it was listed as mid-December by BH Photo.

      1. That made me giggle…. How exactly is one supposed to have fun with a screen protector?!!! Take it to the cinema? play scalextric? Build a den???

I suppose some people are easily pleased ;P

  2. FYI, the first comer was given a free FE 55mm F/1.8 Zeiss Lens, the second comer HVL-F60M and the third comer LA-EA4. and the first and second comer had waited there for more than 4 days.

  3. You usually only see somehing like this if a real technological revolution happend. Kudos to Sony, they just deserve to have all the attention and and “hype” around the A7 now!

  4. 1st buyer got free 55mm f1.8
    2nd buyer got free HVL-f60M
    3rd got LA-EA4

free 55mm f1.8……. maaan i should have called my couple days off and waited in like 2 days for just that.

funny thing is… after the first sale about forty of them are being resold in the Korean used market already.

  5. Translation at 1:46:

“Sony was giving away some free cameras and accessories and I came down because because I am touch deprived and Sony employees are required to high five me if I say I am buying A7.”

      1. Steve, you aren’t the sharpest guy in the town. If it’s a marketing video, do you think “marketing” would leave that statement in the video?

Just to make it simple for you: Taran’s “translation” is fake.

        1. There’s some truth in it, Sony S-Korea is giving away leather strap + charger with extra battery (plus another gift, can’t remember what but very nice deal IMO). Sony HK is throwing in an extra battery and free SD card as their pre-order promo.
Some Australian shops are giving away free metabones.

my take: sony should really include the charger as the first “gift”. I mean come on, even the cheapest point and shoot comes with one.

          1. Sony Thai giving free a charger and a battery and 30% Discount either LAEA4 or Grip.

            Smart move

  6. Hey, admin. Did you notice that the boxes stacked up around the 26 seconds mark say ILCE-7K? Could that be a sibling to the ILCE-3000?

    1. Well, I guess you could call the A7 a sibling of the A3000. A more professional sibling.

(Yes, ILCE-7K is the A7 with the kit lens)

  7. I know that store very well, I use to buy stuff from there when i was living in Seoul.
Sony Alpha line and Nex are very well appreciated in South Korea.

  8. SR2:
New low level A-mount cam with 32Mp, with usual IBIS and on sensor PDAF along the lines of ILCE 3000 for $1500 will debut in Mar 2014. Will incorporate new electronic global shutter along with mech shutter.
New A-mount SLT with 36Mp will also be announced at the same time.
A99 will be upgraded with better AF using new processor and newer sensor without anti-alias filter. New electronic global shutter will debut in addition to usual mechanical one.
In all cases the Flash system will finally be fixed to remove the stupid lazy shutter delay that still causes eye-blink problems.

  9. I, too, got the impression they were not actually selling them. Why the tickets from the bowl? The interviewed guy looks like a winner of some kind of lottery or competition and so do some of the other people put before the camera. This may not be a line-up for buyers.

    1. It’s clear that they gifted some accessories to people. One of them was a HVL-F60m. Of course the line is to buy the camera with lenses.

  10. I find this kind of “celebration” around the rather trivial act of buying a consumer item rather lame. Sales staff applauding for people handing over their money, isn’t that a bit pathetic?
The music makes me think it is rather a hidden Sony ad or at least promo made by the store, or Sony Korea. You have to give credit to Apple for making this type of self marketing popular.

  11. i didnt know sony made enough cameras to sell to all those people..what about the ones that pre ordered?
wonder if they got theirs yet there.

kinda worried about the viewfinder. its the same as the A99, which is just allright.
the Olympus EM-1 viewfinder is out of this world!

  12. I never understood this urge to be the first to have the latest gadget. Always found it stupid to stand in mile-long lines to be among the first to have the new iphone or playstation or whatever. Find it equally stupid when it’s a camera.

  13. It’s marketing or hype whatever you want to call it…. I for one think the A7 and A7r does deserve a long line on it’s launch day.

  14. Man you guys are just full of piss and vinegar! They’re wanting to get their hands on a hot new camera, one that they’ve been waiting on for a while (how long have people been wishing for a “FF nex”?), and everyone bashes them for it. FWIW, if they did that in my city, I’d be waiting in line too 😀

Here’s an idea, instead of insulting people for waiting in line for something they want — I’m going to insult people who’s life is so vacuous and empty of joy that they come online to insult OTHER people doing REAL activities >:)

    Sheesh.

  15. There were 200 cameras in the store with a gift bag for each purchase which included a neckstrap, keyring (of ff sensor)battery charger with battery and a battery grip!! The battery grip alone would be worth queing up for.

The guy who was first in the queue was given a free 55mm lens, the second was given a flash and the third was given the free adaptor for autofocus lenses.

  16. I’m jealous. I want a free battery grip, battery, and charger. The keyring would be cool too!

Or the free adaptor they give out in Australia. Sigh. Why don’t we see these deals in the US?

  17. Looks like the store in Korea had some kind of lottery among first entrants with A7 or A7r as a prize. That can explain long lines – who wouldn’t have a good chance to get an expensive camera free?
