  1. You can get an a6000 with a 16-50 lens for same price. This is a pretty rubbish deal. The NEX7 is now very dated, and only of real use to hipsters that (wrongly) hold on to the belief that technology hasn’t leaped on massively in the last 3 years.

    1. Agree. I’ll take the a6000 over the NEX7, especially with the overheat issue when it comes to video. Already own a NEX7. Maybe wait for a couple more months when price on Sony camera bodies drop further.

      1. Indeed, the a6000’s improvements in image quality are marginal. The a6000 does have faster AF and a better menu system, though. Now if only it had Tri-Navi…

        1. Exactly. Waiting for A7000. Fingers crossed. If Sony fails to deliver it’ll be either A7II or A9, which I would hate as I believe DOF of APS-C is much more practical.

    1. History, proof, lie, no future, old, out of date tech, track record, argue, toy, bucking fastards, I dunno whatever camera I own is better, too many lenses etc. etc. etc.

  2. They still have these for sale? I would get Better AF, the new hotshoe, and wireless and app functionality with the A6000 for the same price.

    1. If that works for you. Yet, you get worse DR, worse casing, worse controls (tri navi is such a blast i wonder why its not on every new camera), awful EVF, no mic input, no leveling gauge etc… In my opinion, nex7 is still better camera, a6000 is more consumer oriented.

      1. A6000 has better dynamic range. The NEX7 only needed Tri-Nav because the menu system was so dreadful, and the EVF in the A6000 is better than the NEX7, yes it’s slightly lower resolution, but it’s much faster refresh rate, better contrast and definition makes up for that.

Seems like you are fooling yourself..

        1. No, EVF is slower in addition to its lower resolution. It only has slight advantage of lower noise because of lower resolution. DR is third of a stop worse, i dont know where you get your info. I am not a fan of that lab measurements, but if you really want to look at them, DXO gives 13,4 ev of DR to nex7 and 13.1ev to a6000. I dont need to fool myself, i could buy a new a6000 with pretty much the same money i would get for my nex7 used. When they released a6000, i was amazed with AF-C, and was ready to sell nex7 in order to buy it, but when actually tried it, i realized it is not even on par with it. a6000 is good in what it is, and it is substitute for nex6. Thats why it is named a6000 and not a7000, and that is why it is still cheaper new, and why Sony ranks it below nex7, until the real replacement.

          1. Yep, it’s said that the NEX-7 is a camera you will keep all your life… but just because none can sell it second hand… The a6000 is just a much better one at a better price, for god sake!

If you are a NEX-7 owner, better you convince yourself you like it.

          2. Better only if you shoot sports. And only then. And no serious sports shooter would go mirrorless yet. Much better for what besides tracking AF? Send your selfie to facebook? a6000 unfortunately feels like a toy in comparison. If you like to trade good metal casing, evf and dials for apps and gps, fine. I will wait for a real upgrade. I am sure that a7000 will look exactly like nex7, with tri-navi, full metal body and 2.4m dot oled evf. It will be expensive, therefore they will not have to cut the production costs by crippling the camera like they did with a6000.
Dont misunderstand me, a6000 is great for the money, but it simply doesnt replace nex7. It is completely different product, aimed at different buyer. You dont replace product adding one great feature and removing other great features. A7II is improved A7, and that is what thousands of Sony users expect a7000 to be: improved nex7. Personally, i wouldnt mind spending 1k euro for nex7 with added IBIS, 4k and fast pdaf.

  3. a7000 coming… so a6000 with Horizon Level, allowing to modify Auto ISO parameters and better and bigger EVF, I hope. Those make the difference to me, + 5 axis stabilization…
