    1. We told you in march that the NEX-C3 would come in April 4. But than cam Fukushima and everything has been delayed. Some people started to blame me for that but us you have seen I was correct with my rumors. You saw the NEX-C3 and A35. So why not believe me that everything is coming on June 3? Sony simply delayed the April 4 and the May 26 announcement and merged them into June 3. Easy 🙂

  1. Sony has a few cameras that are due for an upgrade. We’ll have to see about the life cycle of the NEX, it’s still early on.

Personally, can’t wait for a new FF toy.

The A55 is still relatively new and will be around for some time before being listed as “previous.”

    1. A33 and A55 were announced and released at the same time. Yet the A33 was discontinued (downgraded with A35?) after about 9 months. Based on that history, it’s possible that the A55 will be refreshed soon. I would like to buy the A33 but am very concerned about the overheating issue as I live in a area that has a relatively warm/hot climate.

      1. I’m worried about the over-heating issue as well. I was originally planning to buy this camera before my trip to Vietnam. But consider it will be 100+ degrees, the A33 will fry just taking photos. Supposedly the A35 deals with the over-heating issues.

      2. Overheating is really not an issue if you keep the swivel screen off the back of the camera when shooting, and shut off the Image stabilization. Keep in mind these cameras are designed for pros to shoot clips. If you need to shoot continuous events like a soccer game stick to a handycam.

  2. blah blah blah, who really cares about these low end products?
Sony Digital Imaging can’t get out of the Cybershot P&S model can they. There they always release half-baked models then update them within a year (some within 6 months) as if the products go out of style with the season.

Meanwhile others who’ve spent thousands of Dollars building Sony Alpha system are waiting close to three years for competitive replacement models for full frame and others for advanced APS-C.

    1. Grow up, PhotoNut. I care. If you don’t care, go to Nikon rumors or something to gets your daily dose.

  3. This is all good news and great if you care about the lower end of Sony’s camera line-up
I’ve been hearing about new A-mount lens offerings and have been holding off purchasing any glass for my Alpha 850’s till is see what’s planned.

I want new high quality fast prime lenses (Zeiss) 28mm to 50mm to add to my CZ 85 f1.4 and my CZ 135 f 1.8
The CZ 24mm is a little wide and not as fast as I would like

I have the Sony 50mm and and a Minolta 50mm f1.4 and I newer been happy about its IQ between f1.4 and 2.8 on my FF and I have newer been happy with a Sigma product yet and have tried several.

I have CZ 24-70 f2.8 and the 16mm – 35 and both are great but it can be somewhat tiring to carry and very in-you-face for street photography.

Any rumors expected this year, or should I planning on spending my money elsewhere?

    1. It’s all about the photographer. I, too, had thousands of dollars in Sony Alpha with various lenses, A700, A900, etc. Guess what? After using the NEX-5 and a few rangefinder lenses for a couple of months, I sold ALL of my Alpha DSLR gear, and I couldn’t be happier.

        1. Outside of the Sony 16mm (and the wide converter,) I use:

Nokton 35/1.4 (when I’m in lowlight)
          Contax G 35/2
ZM C-Biogon 35/2.8 (my favorite lens)
MS Optical Perar 35/3.5 (tiniest of all M lenses)
Nokton 50/1.5 (when I’m in lower light)
          Skopar 50/2.5
          SMC Tak 50/1.4 (occasionally)
          Contax G 90/2.8
          Zeiss Jena 135/3.5 (rarely)

          1. BTW, my general small setup that covers most things for me is:

            16mm (with wide converter)
            C-Biogon 35/2.8
            Nokton 50/1.5
and occasionally the Contax G 90/2.8 when I need length

    2. @Irfan
That was totally uncalled for taking on PhotoNut.
      What did he say wrong?

People are waiting for more than three years to upgrade their a700 – they have every right to be vocal here.

I said vocal NOT rude though!

  4. All nice to hear.. But let us hear some good new for people who invested thousands of bucks in alpha system. We need new lenses and upgraded pro bodies!!

  5. To people that want Sony to release high end stuff. Be careful what you wish for 🙂

I came from another brand where the camera company only releases professional ‘Luxury’ FF lens for the past 8 eights (I started photography eight years ago). All the other lower end lens are for the cropped sensor and DO optics, which are equally expensive.

In any case, I hear you. Camera companies should be more diversified, they should release professional lens as well as cheaper lens.

  6. Sony will chase the money and at the moment their consumer range is really taking off.

I’ll be saving up for the Nex flash if it can tilt bounce, and a portrait lens is the zeiss comes 🙂

  7. I’m also waiting to here from the 55-200.

Do someone have any idea about the time frame for availability of all these products after annoucements ? Any chance of getting one of these products for this summer ?

  8. I have read here that this would be the year for the Sony professional

As Minolta/Sony professional I have been waiting for a long time using old Minolta glass and relabeled Minolta glass with a Sony label

Thank god for the few Zeiss lenses that I do my work around, but a few more choices would be helpful

You just learn to backup a bit more or get a little step or three closer and do this before the light fades and you need a faster stop than your lenses will do sharply.

    That’s photgraphy

But a nice 35mm f1.4 Zeiss is not too much to expect, right!

  9. As a curiosity, as you seem to be running an English-American speaking forum, how did you come to the choice of “3th” and not “3nd”?

On the topic, let’s hope to Chris Almighty they make the new NEXs available to market asap; I’m just dying to get me one of ’em 16MP to hang me some serious glass. Just need the size and the capacity, nevermind the ‘glass’ Sony scramble to mount on them.

Btw, any news on the body only price on them C3/5s?

    Cheers y’all!

  10. Hey Andrea,
    Any news about the NEX-VG20(?)
You posted a rumor a couple of months ago that it was to be announced with the new NEX. You have any new rumors about that?

  11. Finally! Thanks for the heads up 🙂

On a semi-similar note: It was nice to see at my local Best Buy a dedicated display for the Sony NEX’s! Unfortunatly someone was handling the thing (loving my future Nikon D3100, though! Yum).

  12. I am waiting for new nex-c3 but it seem no IR remote for Bulb Mode which made me sell my nex-3 … and AF is just crap in NEXs, i hope they improve it with new models. My xz-1 is faster than NEXs in both day light and dim light.AF is just shame on current nex models.I’m praying for much improved one.Only sensor improvement is just not enough!
