  1. FYI, the expected ship date on Sony Canada’s site is November 24th for the a7. I wonder if we’re getting it a week earlier than the US?

  2. On friday, the Sony Germany Hotline stated that the A7 and the Sel35f28z were marked ready for shipment and are to be expected to arrive in the middle of next week the latest.

        1. Same here, still states “Delivery: between November 19th & 20th.”
I ordered online from the Sony Belgium store on November 1st.

I ordered the battery charger on November 1st as well and that was due November 19th & 20th as well.
I got an email from the Sony store last Tursday saying it was shipped and tobe delivered on the 18th already!

So by that logic, if i’m about to get the camera by the 20th latest, that means they have to send me a notification that is shipped by tomorrow! :)
Yes, i’ve had it with waiting! :((

    1. You normally don’t get hit with import duty when buying HK to UK.
But you’re definitely better off paying the extra £100 and waiting for UK stock, as HK warranty is not valid in UK and in some cases they’ll refuse to even repair the camera.

      1. I have purchased a number of cameras from Digitalrev 5D Mark III and a few lenses. Anyhow their service has always been first class, and i recall once I bought a sigma 30mm dn lens for my NEX the lens stopped working, sent it back and they fixed the lens and even refunded by delivery costs for sending the lens back for repair. Their are many reviewers out there from all over the world who have purchased. At the end of the day the choice is yours!

  3. Prices in US and Australia are 365-431 euro cheaper compared to Europe, that’s 20% less!! Fly to New York and your flight is paid for 🙂
    (I did compare the A7R)

      1. That is true Frank but we all know that there are simple workarounds that allow one to avoid the taxes in the USA by shipping out of state I believe .Well to be fair I am only speaking on hearsay as I am not from the USA

      2. But, all Australian advertised prices MUST include tax, by law. Australia does not have taxes, only tax, called GST. (life is so easy with tax and not taxes, but the US does not know about freedom, they just talk about it. A lot.)
So when something is purchased there is nothing nasty stuck up your backside.

  4. I just take the A7R prices world wide from the offical sony pages and convert in € to compare them:

    Japan 1625,-€
    China 1631,-€
    US 1650,-€
    Switzerland 1983,-€
    UK 2028,-€
Germany (and probably the rest of the €-Zone) 2099,-€
    Swenden 2277,-€

Thank god I am in China at the moment and not in Germany. My dealer said he will have the A7R on Thursday 21st.

    🙂

        1. no additional tax. Final price. Already make the payment, just waiting now…
And of course they can be switched to english. Not sure about german, but english always works. In 2006 I bought a sony t10 in china. There it worked as well.

    1. Just checked it say beginning of December, Sony UD say first of December. I cannot believe they would wait that long.
surely B and H are very conservative with the expectation dates.

  5. Apparently my A7R body has shipped and will arrive on Monday afternoon (that tomorrow!) according to the couriers.

However if you order the 35mm lens on Sony’s UK website it says the middle of January 🙁 They also cost £699

Therefore I have taken the risk and ordered one from DigitalRev, who say the lens will be delivered by the end of the week and it was £100 cheaper – we shall see…

    1. So you’re in UK and getting yours tomorrow already? So unfair! :)
Did you order it from Sony’s online store?

    2. amazon.co.uk are even cheaper for the 35mm, but they’re not giving a date at the moment.

by the way Conrad – can I ask when you ordered your camera? I ordered mine at half past midnight on the day of the announcement and it still just says estimate of 4th or 5th Nov along with ‘temporary stock shortage’.

      1. I ordered mine on the 24th October. It said estimated 4th/5th November up until the moment it switched to shipping. I’m sure yours will soon.

        1. Thanks Conrad – my order date was actually a week before yours on the 17th Oct, but it was an a7 instead of an a7R. When I ordered the a7R was expected two weeks after the a7, so it sounds as though you’ve been lucky and that the a7Rs are shipping sooner in the end.

I shall have to be patient 🙁

      2. My A7 was due delivery Monday but I picked it up from the delivery depot yesterday instead. When I spoke to Sony online yesterday they said that all the A7R orders would be delivered in mid Nov I.e probably next week.

  6. So Digitalrev lied. They did not have the lens in stock – due to an ‘an unexpected back order from our supplier’s side which has caused this order to not be shipped out’ i.e. they never had it in stock. They charged my credit card, and didn’t inform me that it would not ship within 24hrs even though that was what was stated at the time of purchase.

    Terrible company.

    1. Same experience here. Have used them a few times in the past – normally pretty good (if a little pricey compared to some other stores) but I have had similar experiences in the past with stock levels for brand new products.

It was listed as ‘in stock -24 hours’ on Saturday so I made an order. I also ordered (separate order) a Voigtlander lens.

The lens shipped on Sunday and was with me in Europe by Monday, pretty amazing. Meanwhile on Monday I got a similar email to the above that the A7R was delayed due to a ‘stock issue’. I though that was fair enough given how popular it must be right now (and they changed the stock status on Monday to 4-7 days), but checking again on the website just now they are again listing the camera as being ‘in stock – 24 hours shipping’.

If it doesn’t ship tomorrow I am going to make a real headache for them 80)

  7. DigitalRev said they had this in stock. I ordered. The next day I received an email that they didn’t. I went to cancel my order on their web site today. I cannot cancel it there, it says I have to contact their customer service. I call their customer service and they say that I can’t cancel it there. I was told it takes them 48 hours for the payment to be set up and when it is in that state it cannot be canceled. Problem is it has been more than 48 hours. I have sent an email to their customer service listed on my paypal transaction.

May be just an oddity or it may be a scam. I shall come back and post updates here.
