Sony A77 price falls at $1238 for the body, at $1819 for the kit. Rokinon for NEX now shipping.

This is now the lowest price I have ever seen for the A77. You cna get it for $1,838 with 16-50mm kit lens at Amazon (one left). And for $1,238 you can buy the A77 body only again via third party reseller at Amazon (plenty of them in Stock). Just a reminder. The A77 successor will arrive in mid-late 2013 only. And no other APS-C SLT model will be announced this year. So these price drops have nothing to do with a possible replacement.

Meantime the new Rokinon 8mm fisheye lens for NEX is now in Stock at BHphoto (Click here) and for $50 more at Amazon (Click here).

The RX100 remains a hotseller at Amazon US (here is the ranking). It’s also within the top 20 at Amazon UK (Click here).

  1. With tax, total comes to $2,001.12 one buck more than I paid for my a77+1650ssm in oct last year. Amazon recently expanded the list of states where they charge taxes.

  2. $1599.00 for the kit and $1049.00 for the body with free shipping at 42photo.com. Sony authorized retailer and the place where I’ll be buying mine when I have the money.

    1. I have purchased Nikon from 42photo.com and you need to be a bit careful about warranty, especially when the price is much lower than the other online store. I am very sure that $1500 A77 with kit lens is gray market, which means imported from some other country. It states “Condition Brand New – USA Warranty” but that is not the warranty from Sony. It is warranty through 42photo.com. If something is wrong with your A77, Sony won’t repair it under warranty. I found this out when I ordered lens from them. I thought USA Warranty means pfficial warranty from Nikon. I feel this is misleading, but for the price, you get what you pay for. Make you call and ask them about the warranty before you order. Anyway, I didn’t order gray market lens. I asked for brand new US market lens with Nikon warranty. The price was $200 more from gray market lens. I received my order without any problem.

    1. +1

This was the best deal by far as you could sell that kit lens for $400-500 and get the body for $1000

  3. Received my Samyang (aka Rokinon, although mine is branded “Bower”, which was slightly cheaper on BH) last week and it’s a blast to use, as nice as their m43 lens but brighter!

Full-res samples in RAW and JPG (one from California Extreme at f/2.8 1600 ISO, the second from the 49ers Stadium [forget the aperture but certainly smaller than 2.8], both in Santa Clara.)

One other comment, at least according to the markings you can focus quite a bit past infinity. It’s hard to judge whether the markings are accurate but I believe they are. The m43 version didn’t go that far past infinity. Wish the lens had a way to adjust the stop so I could just turn all the way to infinity and leave it.

  4. I always thought that US prices were lower than European, but Kamerahuset in Denmark is selling the A77/16-50 kit for 10999DKK ~1800USD, 25% VAT included.

    1. No way. At 1399.99 it still stole the show… and with the current instant rebate at the REAL US PRICE of $1319.99, it’s even better. At $1200, it would have sold more, true, but it would have been undervalued entirely.

    1. Speaking for our company, we sell them well and have no complaints about moving the A77v. It sells itself. August/September is traditionally a very slow time for camera sales in general… just not our season. That being said and, to reiterate, the A77 still sells well here.

      1. “August/September is traditionally a very slow time for camera sales in general”

Wish the A99 preorders was earlier, like spring.

    2. As far as I can see the a77 has sold reasonably well with almost as many users as the a55 (which was on sale for a longer time than the a77 has been so far)… Considering the higher price of the a77 compared to the a55 I would consider this to mean that it has been quite a sales success.

This kind of price drop is quite normal in the life of pretty much any DSLR from any of the manufacturers…. lets compare to see how they drop….

      Sony a77 body only release price Sept 11 – £1150, now £949 = 17.5% drop.

Canon 7D body only release price Sept 09 – £1699, Sept 10 (oldest data available so closest I can get to similar length of time on the market) £1175 = 31% price drop.
Canon 60D body only release price Sept 10 – £1100, August 11 (so similar time on the market) £800 = 27% price drop.

Nikon D7000 body only release price Oct 10 – £1100, September 11 (again, similar time on market) £775 = 29.5% price drop.

If you are taking these price drops to be an indication of sales results vs expectations, then the Sony a77 has fared far better in the market than ANY of the comparable Nikon or Canon cameras have done.

Another fanboy trolling dullard shown for all to see.

  5. Funny enough: the one camera sold and the price is back to normal. Good thing, too. We’d happily report the violation to Sony and see to it that retailer lost their shipments. I can’t stand vendors who don’t play by the rules.

    1. And I can’t stand manufacturers and vendors who don’t play by the rules of a free market. Fixing prices is illegal for a good reason, at least where I live.

    1. as mentioned above… apparently it was one copy.

The price is back to $1,918.00 for new. Guess your assumption has a few holes in it.

      1. My assumption is based on this rumor, on the fact that Sony makes a new camera model every 15 minutes and that each new camera is very similar to the one it’s replacing.
But yes, it has a few or a lot of holes, I was not aware this was a Math or NASA site where everything is exact (maybe the word RUMOR means something to you), and don’t worry all the holes left by my assumption will be filled with new cameras about to be released, that are the same as the previous, with a sexier number and an extra button…

          1. Exactly, so we agree… T3 and T4 are the same POS, and so because Canon does it that way, Sony runs to mimic on the wrong things…
Where is Sony continuity? Lenses to match the ridicolous amount of bodies, for how long has the FF segment being discontinued? The new FF is coming not firm yet, but in a while, but you do have a thousand Nex with an n or an f or an n and an f and a thousand coming, no fw to back the already existing products, but just new products so you have all of the sudden an obsolete (discontinued, no fw, no availability= obsolete) model… nowthe new FF does not even include, according to the specs on this site, any Sony memory card, old or new… so the ones that have not yet sold alll that exclusive crap, end up having a lot of investment that is just not useful anymore, and if you look around no one else is exactly dying to buy all that from any of you, etc, etc, etc my friends…
