  1. Is this site still a Rumours site or just deals site? Not seen any decent rumours for ages. Where’s these lenses? Where’s the a6000 replacement? What’s next for alpha?

This site used to be awesome…

    1. It seems as though Sony has really managed to seal off information leaks. Apparently, the admin gets very little so we get very little.

      1. Yeah, it seems like they really tightened things up after the big hack last year. I’m sure consequences are pretty dire now for anyone caught leaking, so most probably won’t risk it.

    2. I see the same thing on Nikon Rumors. Nothing but new lenses, endless reviews of existing products, and advertised ‘deals’. I don’t know if the camera makers have actually been able to plug leaks – that’s pretty tough to do in big companies – or if this is just an indication that internally, they have no clear direction and are just sitting in endless meetings, wringing their hands about smartphones and how they have to push FF even harder.

    1. Gee, according to this site the successor to A6000 was announced and released almost an year a go. Just buy that friggin A6000 and don’t try to be smart 😉

    2. Don’t think so, I think it is cheap to make and a great way to build market share.
I doubt they will stop making it once they introduce the new aps-c body

  2. Does anyone know if this is a limited-time offer, or a permanent price reduction in anticipation of the succeeding model? B&H hasn’t responded to this question yet. Thanks…

      1. I thought so too at first. Forget my referral link if you want, read about them. I had nothing but great experience with GreenToe.com. I got 10-15% discount on 7 Sony lens, 2 Sony bodies compared to any other US official retailer.

        1. That’s actually good to hear. This website has been around for awhile now but the concept is still somewhat new. Maybe I’ll give it a chance.

          1. They have pretty good reviews http://www.resellerratings.com/store/Greentoe_com
            http://www.dpreview.com/forums/post/54629652
            https://www.reddit.com/r/photography/comments/2lge3j/has_anyone_had_any_experience_using_greentoe/

The site seems legit. Most likely will be ordering the 85 f/1.2 via these guys in a few weeks, if I can get it for $1720 that would be amazing!

Pavel – I’ll use your referral link too, hope you’ll get some credits from them 🙂

        2. I did a quick search on Dpreview and Resellerratings and it looks like a legit (almost 10/10 ratings). will check it out when I have a chance. This way you can negotiate with resellers.

        3. Pavel, I just pulled the trigger and got the 85 f/1.2 for $1649. Seems to be a nice price for a non-gray market lens. Make sure you’ll be getting your $25 and thank you for the info! No way I’m buying anything from B&H again 🙂

          1. Congrats Oleg! Something didn’t work out with referral link, but no worries. I’m glad you liked Green Toe, you’ll like it even better when it is in your hands and is as promised. The only thing I don’t like about it is that delivery is looong 5 business days. I’m spoiled my Amazon.

          2. Thank you Pavel! I can tolerate a 5 days delivery as long as the price is good 🙂 I’ll email the sales person (Andrew) your referral link in a min – man, you just saved me $250 and that’s the least I can do. I think it could be because I’ve opened the site prior clicking your link. I love Amazon too, but now I’m trying to avoid direct purchases from them due to the taxes. Luckily lots of major sellers outside of TX offer the “prime” shipping as well 🙂

P.S. emailed – will let you know when he responds, most likely tomorrow.

  3. Looking at the sales ranking in the link, its easy to see why CaNikon isn’t rushing to flush away piles of cash to make a mirrorless system that competes with the E-mount. The A6000 sale is the only mirrorless in the top 20. Everything else is DSLR, regardless of the decline, they’re still the bread and butter of the ILC market.

    1. I went out hiking yesterday. I took the A77II and my daughter took the Canon Rebel. The Canon for the cost isn’t all that bad. I assume most buying a camera are thinking the same thing. It gets the job done so why bother with yet another camera. I’ll just use my phone at that point.

I’m surprised how well the Canon does at exposing correctly and constant auto focusing. It needs good light though and it’s ugly as helll. The bears don’t seem to mind so.

      1. Going hiking is when I really love my a6000 – so small and light, and exact same image quality as my A77. If I just bring my 32mm and 12mm Touit primes (Sigma primes are good choices, too) along, it’s a really compact, killer kit. If I’m going out expressly to get killer landscape shots and want more flexibility in focal range, then I’ll instead pack a couple A-mount zooms (16-50mm f/2.8 and my beercan) with the adapter, but for general hikes with the family that basic prime kit is great. If I didn’t have that setup, honestly, I’d never bring anything but the iPhone, as I got sick of lugging around a DSLR for those times when *maybe* I’ll end up taking a few shots.

        1. The A77II I admit isn’t exactly lite. I imagine most would spring for the a6000 and that 10-18 they have is modestly priced as well.

I use an Olympus EP5, 9-18mm, 25mm 1.8 and 45mm 1.8 for a small compact kit. It’s stupid small and the quality is sadly really good. I say sadly because in may cases- I can’t tell the difference between that and anything Sony related I’ve owned or own.

          1. Yeah, the quality of even the smaller (m4/3) sensors are so good these days that I think the difference between m4/3, APS-C, and FF are really getting blurred unless you’re shooting high ISO or printing pretty large. If the “NEX” cameras weren’t so small, I probably would have gone m4/3 for my second system, but since I can get that larger sensor in smaller body, that’s the way I went. Of course, the native lens selection isn’t nearly as good as m4/3 yet…

    2. this make me remember how my nephew picked up his first DSLR.
Q: “Why do you pick Canon?”
A: “because my senior said canon is the best one”
Q: “why do you even pick DSLR”
A: “because it’s look uber cool”
      Q:”why not mirrorless”
      A: “uhh, what’s a mirrorless?”

  4. Do you think that the a6000 price will drop even more on the actual black friday? I’m thinking of getting one now but I’m afraid that when it comes to friday, the price will drop even more, as someone posted in another post that ebay is planning on reducing it to 499 (with kit lens).

      1. It is easy to track whether deals are worth it using http://camelcamelcamel.com.
For A6000 the deal is indeed great, it is record low price, see this for price history: http://camelcamelcamel.com/Sony-Alpha-Mirrorless-Digital-Camera/product/B00I8BICCG

I hope we will see also deals for A7 ii, A7r ii, A7s ii in a few days.

Once we see deals for them I suggest to use GreenToe and buy for even less. You will buy there even for less that retail now, but it make sense to wait few days. Go to GreenToe.com or use my referral link http://gtoe.me/l/77q5xNU0_w.
I waited for a deal on A6000 kit to use it as backup camera for my A7 ii and got it today for $475 compared $550 on Amazon/Adorama/B&H.

But for lenses, which are not replaced each year by a new model, Sony always drop price by the same amount several times a year, e.g. see history for randomly chosen SEL 10-18.

    1. It is, if you ask me… You have to click on the Base + Deluxe Bundle.

That makes the Camera Body + 2 batteries + Wall Charger + Car Adapter + Bag + 16 GB Card…. all for $398. Pretty Awesome…

  5. Maybe for $200. . . . If the engineering you can see is so tacky (plastic bayonets; the feel of the body) where have they cut too many corners where you can’t see them? Also from what I read the menu system is hard to use, and the kit lens is awful. At $200 I could get the metal conversion for the bayonet and a lens adapter, slap a Summicron on, and have a toy.

  6. Also, the Sony A7RII is the only $2000+ camera in the list. Even if its ranked 20, that’s quite a feat. That is also the only other Mirrorless Camera apart from the A6000 on the list.
