The image I posted here on top may not look that professional but what you see really works 🙂
This is the new Kipon EOS to NEX adapter that will allow full electronic control of the Canon EOS EF lenses on your NEX. Almost like you can do on the new Canon EOS-M camera.
“Manual” Kipon adapters for NEX can be found on [shoplink 5559 ebay]eBay (Click here)[/shoplink].

Hoped they could have something for alpha lenses to nex camera with AF, the current Sony LA-EA2 is too overprice.
Tere is also a LA-EA1, isn’t it? Don’t know how well it works without PD but it’s a half-price of the “2”. For lenses with SAM and SSM it might be enough…
It may be expensive, but it’s worth every penny! Having so much fun AND great results with mine!
It’s traditional to try to minimise internal reflections by blacking and covering shiny components, but what the hell! They’re only Canon lenses!
The image is prototype. The actual adapter won’t look like that with hanging wires
Hanging wires is kinda cool.
Andrea, when in the SONY new product announcement coming?
Wasn’t it today?
Much thanks 🙂
They announced a new lens yesterday. They’re also announcing some new video camera on Thursday. The countdown on Sony’s website says 3 hours to go until the announcement.
Much thanks BJ 🙂
For me, the countdown was set on midnight and now it looks stuck. GMT +1
I just checked and the countdown is already gone. It looks like a new Pro camera. Kind of obvious since it was on a Professional specific page of their site. Anyways, probably not news for the masses.
Just iris or AF too? I have the metabones, would be nice to have AF even if it isn’t super fast.
+1 Yeah, I’d like to know this, too. Is this more functional than the Metabones version that has electronic aperture control? i.e. AF control, too? Or is it the same basic thing?
From kipon’s website, it only mentioned aperture control from camera
will “IS” be working?
Does this mean the Sigma 120-300 F2.8 in Canon mount will work with the NEX cameras?
from Kipon web site, NO AF supported
Link please?
next thing. Nikon adapter!
What does it mean by full electronic control? Hoping to get more updates for this product. Thanks SAR
This means you can change the aperture in camera. Previously the aperture was wide open.
It will not give autofocus. This is not rationally possible
It IS rationally possible for CDAF focusing. You just need a small circuitboard with an ASIC that’ll convert the signal from camera to lens. It’s not that difficult to make work. The difficulty is in making it work well. Without optimization, the lens can well hunt for an infinite amount of time.
Then I suppose that you can rationally explain why it is not rationally possible?
What would be the point of this rumour if it wasn’t about AF and/or OSS support?
Aperture control. Unlike Nikon lens, Canon lens doesn’t have aperture ring.
But according to the links below the rumour text, we’ve had aperture control already.
Well, maybe this one is cheaper. Or maybe exactly the same product. The more the merrier.
The previous adapters provided manual aperture control only. These new adapters, like the Metabones, provide electronic aperture control through the camera interface.
As Steve referred to, Metabones already has this capability. Curious the difference. (Just yesterday sent Metabones preorder paypal for my Canon adapter.) Good to see multiple vendors in this space (just hope there’s no intellectual property theft/wars) and ditto on getting a Nikon adapter. Too bad most/all lenses nowadays have no manual aperture control on-lens.
